Space Making: 3D Organization
01
The project explores the three dimesional organization of a series of interconnected volumes and spaces by developing hierarchical volumes extruded from a two dimensional grid. Each of the volumes then is connected vertically and horizontally, creating complex and experiential spaces.
Abstraction: Community Garden
02
The project started by creating a series of a two dimensional drawings that reinterprets an abstract organizational system found on the site of the project. The final system was then integrated into the design of the community garden.
Translation: Culinary School
03
The design of the culinary school explores the idea of translating an existing two dimensional organizational system into a three dimensional system while constraining to a cubic form. This translation is then adapted to fulfill a set of programmatic requirements of a culinary school.

The 2727 Expo Housing project is located in the northeast side of the city of Los Angeles, adjacent to the juntion of the 405 and 10 freeway and close proximity to the Expo Metro line. This design proposal re-explores the idea of the typical los Angeles courtyard apatments. The design creates a connection between the interior space of the courtyard with the rest of the city by opening up the impermeable design of the traditional courtyard housing, and creating a more dynamic form that interacts with the surrounding urban context. The design proposal for the new Architecture Center for the city of Los Angeles (CALA) is to create a new presence of the AIA in the city, by expanding its services and relationship with the people of city. The proposed design incorporates the AIA Los Angeles headquarters and the A+D museum, producing an unique architectural hub that will provide special services to professionals and facilitate discourse around architecture issues for the general public. The building consists of two distinctive volumes that separate the AIA office and the Museum, connected through a series of bridges that facilitates the program relationship between the two volume. Furthermore, the proposal puts a large emphasis in the integration of sustainable technology as one of core concepts of the design, such as an implementation of an advance heat exchange system integrated into the facade of the building. The ‘Center for Urban Space & Culture is a proposal for the integration of San Francisco Public Spaces and cultural institutions in a non-traditional high-rise. The project is located in the south market neighborhood on the corner of Howard St. and Second St, a few blocks from the financial district and some of the most prestigious San Francisco cultural institutions. The proposal seeks to provide a new type of public space/building, where the people of San Francisco can learn, relax, play, shop and appreciate art through design that redefines the traditional extruded and stacked floors high-rise. The inefficacy and inadequacy of the Venezuelan government to solve social and economical problems has forced its citizens to seek their own solutions. In the year 2100, Venezuelan cities are independent from any social and economic control of the Venezuelan government, giving rise to self-organized and self-governed cities of co-op communities across Venezuela. This project particularly seeks to explore this idea in the northeastern coastal city of Barcelona, due to its slow and poor social and economic development.
