Journey Through a World of Art + Nature at GROUNDS FOR SCULPTURE

Step into a wonderful world of art and nature at this day trip destination in Hamilton, New Jersey. Whether you love artwork, the outdoors, or just like to explore, it is time to schedule a trip to Grounds for Sculpture.

Across 42 landscaped acres, art and nature come together at this museum, sculpture garden and arboretum. With an outdoor collection of over 300 works and a number of horticultural highlights, Grounds for Sculpture is not just a destination—it is a journey. There is always something new to experience in the beautiful landscape which changes every season and the works of art that feature new additions each year.

From a towering depiction of the famous “American Gothic” couple to a sea creature popping out of the water, art is on display like you have never seen before. Intricately designed sculptures are scattered throughout the acres for guests to discover and marvel at. With each step you will be drawn to something new...mind-boggling architectural designs; life-like “people” laying in the grass; and even a lakeside table where you can “savour” a glass of sculpted wine. Snap photos posing with statues or walking underneath glorious arches. Each work will make you feel as though the art has come to life...for you to interact with!

Art is not the only attraction at Grounds For Sculpture. The beauty of nature is the backdrop to every sculpture, adding something special to not only your photos but your entire experience. Wander along manicured paths lined with exotic trees and flowers. Take a walk through a meadow to not only catch a glimpse of an artist’s creation but to smell the wildflowers. Over 2,000 trees have been planted across the property along with a variety of colorful flowers and other plants. Other unmissable sights include a pond and elegant reflecting pools; natural woodlands; bamboo groves; and themed gardens.

Founded by artist and philanthropist Seward Johnson, Grounds for Sculpture was designed with the purpose of displaying artwork within a serene landscape. Since opening in 1992, it has been committed to exhibiting the work of contemporary sculptures and making the sculptural arts and nature accessible to all.

The Grounds for Sculpture “journey” is one that is all about individual discovery. Visitors selfdirect their experience by exploring the grounds on their own, connecting with all that is around you. Guests are encouraged to respectfully touch and interact with the outdoor works, giving you the opportunity to truly discover the art and find meaning based on your own perception. Combining the wonder of sculptural art and the serenity of nature, Grounds for Sculpture is unlike anywhere you have been. Filled with unforgettable sights, you could wander the grounds for hours and still have more left to see! This day trip destination is truly an ongoing journey that you will want to come back to time and again to keep exploring.
