For more than 85 years, Metropolitan Window Fashions has provided window dressings for residential homes in northern New Jersey. Initially established in 1934, the family-owned business has spanned three generations. The core mission–to provide quality products and services–has remained intact since its inception.

Currently led by Bruce Heyman, the grandson of the founder, Metropolitan is New Jersey’s largest independent retailer of custom window fashions.

Metropolitan’s stores display beautiful fabrics and custom window fashions of all styles. All locations have the designation of Hunter Douglas Gallery Centurion dealer–the highest level possible. According to Heyman, “Hunter Douglas only sells through independent dealers; you cannot buy their product online or at a big box store.”

The showrooms provide a variety of custom draperies, blinds, shutters, motorized shades, and reupholstery. To assist clients with their selections, Metropolitan offers a free in-home decorating service.

Their 30 employees, eight decorators, and five installers are available to design, prepare, customize, and install the finished product. “Unlike the box stores and other competitors, we have the right-sized, knowledgeable staff that can deliver our services from design to installation,” states Heyman.

Metropolitan has received numerous local and national business awards for its quality products and services. Remarks Heyman, “Awards are nice, but we want our customers to be happy. That is why we are here–this is a service business.”
