Helping Patients to Deal with Anxiety Due to the Pandemic
Coping during the ongoing pandemic can seem challenging. Health professionals say it is not uncommon for people to experience both good days and bad days.
“I remind everyone that these days, you’re making up your coping skills as you go,” says Dr. Keith Morgen, Ph.D, LPC, ACS, of Discovery Wellness Center in Morristown. “So it’s OK to have some not-so-great days. That may also mean you need support, whereas before the pandemic, perhaps you were more autonomous. That’s also OK.”
Dr. Keith Morgen
Dr. Morgen advises that, “if you feel distressed, seek out a mental health professional who can help you manage your emotions and thoughts.”
Other helpful tips for coping during the pandemic include getting enough sleep, eating nutritious foods and exercising. In addition, staying connected with supportive family members, friends and colleagues can be beneficial.
Dr. Morgen welcomes anyone needing help to call for an appointment or more information about the services provided for individuals and families.
To ensure everyone’s safety, virtual appointments by phone or video are available. “We have made it our responsibility and have taken multiple steps to minimize health risks to our staff and clients while still being able to provide for therapeutic needs. We are all in this together and we look forward to keeping contact with you during this period of distance. Feel free to call today for any inquiries or appointments.”

This Year, Having the BACKYARD of Your DREAMS
Will Be All the Rage!
If 2020 is any indication of how many people will be investing in their backyards in 2021—there will be a lot according to Ion Colbasiuc, owner of Deck Guardian. With the onset of COVID, Deck Guardian, which specializes in building maintenance-free decks, upgrading and resurfacing existing decks and installing gazebos, patios, porches and Louvered Roofing Systems, built over 400 decks, and expects the numbers to be even higher in 2021.
Colbasiuc suggests that anyone looking to enhance their backyard this summer, should start planning now, so as to avoid having to wait too long for appointments once spring and summer arrive. All new decks require multiple permits, a process that takes time to approve and adds to the timeline, and that even purchasing materials takes time, especially in light of the pandemic.
“These days, now that social distancing and visiting with friends and family outdoors is the new norm, having a deck or outside space is more essential than ever,” says Colbasiuc. “Decks provide a great addition to the house by creating an extra room and by adding the space everyone needs to be able to use and enjoy outdoors.”
Colbasiuc, who launched Deck Guardian in 2015, after spending 10 years in the industry, says
Deck Guardian provides top-notch service and addresses the needs of all homeowners – those with small projects and those with large, elaborate ones too. In addition, Deck Guardian is dedicated to using the most innovative technologies to deliver unique long-last decks.
He adds that Deck Guardian partners with trusted decking brands including Trex, Azek, and Fiberon, and employs innovative construction methods like the use of steel helical piers that have three to five times more load capacities than traditional cement. Colbasiuc says these manufacturers have revolutionized the decking industry and offer materials that withstand the weather elements for up to 25, even 30 years with little maintenance. These relationships enable Deck Guardian to provide clients with a great value on their investment, as well as great warranties on all builds.
“When we complete a project, our clients are amazed at how beautiful and durable the finished project is,” says Colbasiuc.
