01 MARC CENTER LOCATION: FAYETTEVILLE, AR DURATION: 4 MONTHS YEAR: SPRING 2016

The mission of this studio was to create a live artist community with a comfortable apartment that represents home for the residents of Fayetteville, Arkansas and adds more social activity to the busy downtown Dickson street. The building facade was designed to reveal the richness of the Ozark wood texture and quality. The design allows individuals to admire the volumetric towers stacked on top of the solid horizontal block and appreciate the intervention of contemporary design which is often not found in small college towns. Imaginative creation is the primary art form allowing the artists to explore, create, and display for the community. There are eighteen workspace studios, three galleries, eighteen apartments, gift shop, cafe & bar, skylight and open terrace.

02 WILLIAM EGGLESTON MUSEUM LOCATION: MEMPHIS, TN DURATION: 4 MONTHS YEAR: FALL 2016

This studio aimed to design a museum with metal facade skin wrapping 75% of the building. The facade made of bronze metal which is semitransparent. The envelope acts as a shield protecting from strong western lights and creates a sense of security, protecting the interior from sharp sun beams yet benefiting the daylight at optimum. Through the placement of the bronze metal panels in the same size and variation, the facade perceived as an assortment of new geometries, which cast shadow pattern onto the interior space. At ground floor the cafe, shop and lobby space have a transparent glass facade, allowing visitors from street level to have a visual connection to the building. Visitors move up to the galleries and event space through a large staircase along the east facade, which allows for a view of downtown Memphis. The building is designed to receive the filtered sunlight from the North with channel glass as the facade material and allows for views to the Mississippi River. 10|11

BIKE TRAIL TEAM PROJECT

Springfield

The objective of the bike trail team was to connect the trail from the city to the bike shop whereby creating a loop around the city. After working as a three-person team, we individually designed recreational centre concepts. The goal was to develop a mixed-use complex containing several different institutions for both communities and individual users.

The city of Pineville, Missouri is the county seat of Mc Donald county. Pineville is situated where Big Sugar creek merges to become the Elk River. The area is home to 25 canoe outfitters and several campgrounds; just to the northeast are Big Sugar Creek Park and Huckleberry Ridge Conservation area. The mission of this studio was to work with the city council of Pineville to help address bike trails, and pedestrian paths, design a riverfront, create a new streetscape along the square and design a new recreational center.

Housing Non Housing

BIKE ZONE Pineville is adding a bike shop at the northwest part of town at the end of a long field owned by an indigene of the city. The path will add a bike lane that will connect the town to the bike shop. An additional bike trail is attached along the riverfront, linking back to the bike shop. From there the bike trail will continue down the river and back up to the city creating a loop. The main construction of this will be concrete; it is cheap, durable, and can withstand the flooding that happens multiple times during the year. The average cost of a 5ft concrete bike trail is around $300,000 per mile with an average yearly maintenance cost of $130,000.

TOURIST ZONE Pineville would like to bring more tourists to their city annually and not only during the peak floating seasons which is usually from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The boat launch will be designed to give individuals a unique reason to visit the town. The bike trail cuts through the tower and connects with the boat launch. The bike trail will work with the riverfront of these areas to create a pleasant experience with the river and the natural landscape of the city.

04 MUSIC OFFICE TOWER LOCATION: CHICAGO,IL DURATION: 4 MONTHS YEAR: SPRING 2014

This studio aimed to design an office tower with a central core supported by structures. Throughout the process of urbanization, towers have been symbols of technological excellence, prime capitals and the societal projections of wealth and prosperity. The inspiration for this project came from the sign of a music symbol. This activation of flow forms organic punctuation in the landscape. The goal was to challenge the sustenance of commonplace boxy towers. The elegant, natural shape of the building mixes passion and drama with an adequate footprint ideal for offices and other commercial uses which create a unique experience of the city, a heterarchical distribution. At the podium, the cadence of the floors rising into the sky echo the modular rhythms of the human experience, yet emphasize the movement of an adoring figure. It can perceive from different corners of the street as an illusion of a dancing woman or a building in motion. 24|25
