Located at the top of Fort Hill Drive, this classic colonial-style home has a commanding view of the Yazoo Diversion Canal and the Port of Vicksburg. Dr. George Street, one of the founders of the Street Clinic, and his wife Lois built the home in 1940. The architect was Raymond Birchett, who also designed Mercy Hospital and the Street Clinic. In 1954, the house became home to Dr. Street’s son-in-law, Lucian Ferris, and his wife. Upon her death in 2001, the home became the property of her children, Mac, Kim and Minor Ferris. It is now the home of Minor Ferris, who enjoys tending to the home’s extensive gardens and watching the changing seasons from the home’s magnificent view.
