The spirit of Vickyh is guided by a pleasure to discover, as well as by a profound respect for the natural resources of the territories we invite you to discover. Embark on a bespoke journey that suits your desires. Men, boats and precious family moments ; from dusk ’till dawn, the unique rush of a splash of salty water, the vibrant reflections of sunlight on the sea surface, the ocean breeze caressing your skin, and the renewed excitement of being at sea, as the first glimpse of sunshine appears on the horizon every morning. The exhilarating feeling induced by the discovery of a new cove, the unique sensation of being the first human being to step foot on virgin territory, the fascination provided by the vibrant marine wildlife. The ocean, you, your fins and mask, we can offer you all of it. Yet the sea has countless, and often untapped resources : its capacity to transmit energy, its humility and its profound solidarity. By becoming a sailor (an experience that has to be lived), the wind carries you away, to somewhere pure and authentic, real and palpable. In the words of the French poet Baudelaire, “free men have always cherished the sea”. ( « Homme libre, toujours tu chériras la mer. ») Welcome aboard ! We provide a gateway to a world of exclusivity, a universe filled with fabulous yachts and extraordinary destinations ; and highly attentive service. Wherever your preferred location stands on the map, our team of experienced charter brokers are here to assist you in creating your ideal itinerary. We can pinpoint the most secluded and beautiful coves and beaches, those hard to find gastronomic gems but also the best places to spot dolphins. For the more corporate minded, we can help plan the perfect visit to prestigious events. At your request, the yacht will take you wherever you desire. Be it away from crowds, politics, clocks and diaries ; or into the heart of the action to hotspots in the likes of St Tropez or St Barth, Vickyh Yachting knows the best locations. We travel the world to inspect luxury charter yachts and evaluate them. This effort ensures our yachts meet our clients’ expectations by providing the highest standards in the industry. You can depend on our discretion, experience and reputation to correctly identify the yacht and destination that meet your needs.

With no timetable, no crew, and an endless supply of beaches, coves and unique islands to visit ; a powerboat or sailing bareboat charter represents the ultimate get away vacation. There are many companies offering worldwide bareboat yacht charters, yet standards vary enormously so that choosing the right boat and company makes all the difference. There are many enticing bareboat charter sites on the internet, however in reality it is virtually impossible to judge a boat’s condition from a web site or a magazine ad. As an independent agency that works with the main bareboat charter companies (we represent fleets like The Moorings, Sunsail, Vernicos and Dream Yacht Charter for Switzerland), we can tell you how they compare and astutely describe each boat’s current condition.

Turkish Gulets are very similar to the working boats of old times, only equipped with engines and modern facilities. They allow charterers to explore the beautiful Turkish coast in comfort and style, while also experiencing a unique traditional atmosphere. We inspect all the Gulets every year and make a very careful selection, choosing each one for its standard but also –and most importantly- for its captain and crew. Gulets provide large open deck areas for sunbathing, and are equipped for watersports. The cabins are mostly doubles, with some twins, and all have en-suite shower and toilet. One way cruises and land excursions can be arranged, and the Gulets can also visit Greece. They are designed for comfort rather than speed, boasting a strong, heavy structure with powerful engines and beamy hulls. Boarding and disembarkation can take place from a number of ports along the Turkish coast, mainly Bodrum, Gocek, Marmaris and Kas allowing for one-way trips. Other choices of ports are also possible, incurring an additional fee. All our Gulets have experienced professional crews, at least one of whom speaks English, and all are child-friendly, and hold the promise of a superb holiday experience.

CRUISES What could be more delightful than having the waves gently rock you to sleep with nothing in sight but a ceiling of stars? MEDITERRANEAN

Fleur de sel Renowned as yacht enthusiasts’ favourite playground, the Mediterranean spoils visitors with infinite cruising options and delights aesthetes with its eye-opening diversity. The Mediterranean’s richness is such that it is impossible to describe her picturesque beauty with words. In the heart of all of us, her name resounds with deep emotions and feelings, for our collective imaginary has been infused by her story through books and traditions. Over the years, her legendary destinies have combined intricately to create a unique melting pot whose legacy we have inherited. From the Phoenicians to the Greeks, from dramatic straits to imposing volcanoes, and from pink sunsets to harbour treasures. More than anywhere else on the face of the earth, the breathtaking scenery meshes perfectly with the local cultures to give birth to a common destiny. Like a connecting bridge towards the rest of the world, and with the humble look that illuminates the eyes of its dignified inhabitants. Away from everything, from the never ending urban rumble, the Mediterranean sea is also where all our childhood memories came into being, during those cherished family moments by the sea shore. Beyond the immense greatness of civilizations passed, we are graced with the unpretentious beauty of her harbours, who still nourish their great values. From the extreme eastern point to the extreme western one, contrasts are so markedly strong that while travellong the very waters that saw the roots of our civilization, one might almost feel like he’s been around the world.

Greece

With more than a thousand sun drenched islands, Croatia has established itself as one of the most thrilling and spectacular cruising destinations in the Mediterranean. A pristine coastline, green lush mountainous inlands, and charming historic towns make for a delightful experience. From the Istrian peninsula’s picturesque harbours of Rijeka and Pula, to Dalmatia’s exquisite pine clad islands of Hvar and Brac, cruise the jewel of the Adriatic and get carried away by World Heritage Sites at Split and medieval Dubrovnik, whose stunning old city gives way to deep blue waters.

A unique blend of rich history, gorgeous natural backdrops and elegant civilization, Greece is a wonderfully enduring destination. From the archetypical white washed villages to the sun baked olive and citrus groves and the eye-opening archaeological wonders, Greece undoubtedly makes the shortlist of yacht destinations. A paradise for island hopping, Greece’s 4 eclectic archipelagos (the Ionian Islands, the Saronic Gulf, the Cyclades Islands and the Dodecanese Islands) combine turquoise waters with fascinating history, mythology and adorably welcoming fishing villages and harbours to drop anchor at. From Corfu to Zakynthos, and from Hydra to Spetses by way of the illustrious Mykonos and Santorini, and the legendary Samos and Patmos, Greece provides for the quintessential Mediterranean cruising experience.

taste of the place Mrs Stephania Karathanassis’s Tzatziki

Tzatziki is traditionally served as an appetizer and can be left on the table as an accompaniment to foods throughout the meal. The key to great tzatziki is the thick creamy texture that allows it to be eaten alone, as a dip, as a spread, and as a condiment. 16 ounces (2 cups) of thick Greek yogurt 4 to 10 cloves of garlic, finely chopped 1/2 cup of diced or grated cucumber 1 tablespoon of olive oil 2 teaspoons of lemon juice Prepare all ingredients in advance. Combine oil and lemon juice in a medium mixing bowl. Fold the yogurt in slowly, making sure it mixes completely with the oil. Add the garlic, according to taste, and the cucumber. Stir until evenly distributed. Garnish with a bit of green and serve well chilled.

Antiquities and turtles on mystical Patara Beach – Kalkan. The silence of the Lycian tombs. Kalkan to Kas, like the Amalfi coast without the crowds. Secret garden’s marvellous meze – Bodrum. Kornati archipelago – 100 islands of bright white rock in an azure sea. Plump scampi from Murter and spiced lamb from Brac. Start your cruise in Venice and dine in the fragrant garden of the Cipriani.

When Orient seduces Occident, passion can only be reciprocal, and from their union, dynasties of beautiful children are born. Established around the Bosphorus, they cultivate cultural lavishness with their eclectic accents. This condensed richness is diffused in the turquoise waters and reaches to the surrounding coast of the Aegean Sea, herself heart struck by the Mediterranean. First encounter with a culture of the thousand and one nights served on golden plates in an authentically delicious cuisine that takes your palate on a journey. So close to home, yet one feels so far away. The temptation to disembark and get a taste of the country’s rich heritage is so strong, like an attempt at taming the Trojan horse. On the Gulet’s inviting deck, when the sun is ready to disappear over the horizon and the flamboyant sun diffuses its golden rays on the sublime sea, families can reach for happiness with their bare hands, or so the legend says. As the dark settles in, thousands of votives light up from the Bazaar, narghile pipes fill the atmosphere with their intoxicating smell, and Arabian night’s unique hospitality stands out as an evidence.

INDIAN OCEAN

Amongst the untouched forests, the bird sanctuaries, the virgin fishing grounds and the stunning diving spots where few have gone before, the Seychelles deserve their comparison to the original Garden of Eden. As the largest water-based country in the world, the Maldives are in close competition to make the yachtsman’s shortlist of favourite spots. Yet with time, islands and bays become familiar, each standing apart from the others with its own unique character. Praslin’s aphrodisiac coconuts, the atoll of Cosmoledo’s majestic seagulls, and Amirantes’ perfect white sands. A journey across the Indian ocean rimes with mellowness, and in the Indian-coloured waters, the sails’ radiance seems brighter than ever. If the Maldives are giant manta rays’ secret garden, their warm waters are also home to fabulous sea life. No special equipment is required, so take the time to discover the dramatic submarine beauty and realize the extent of our planet’s richness. You’ll come home a little different.

CARIBBEAN

Spicy salt The Caribbean has forever been a favourite destination with sailors. An epitome of relaxation, these enchanting tropical islands fascinate with their vivid colours, the unique scent of their spices and exotic flowers, and the lively atmosphere pertaining to the Caribbean way of life. Stylish yet laid-back, the Caribbean isles are where sea-enthusiasts come to enjoy the charismatic sound and breathtaking scenery so particular to that region. You’ll drop anchor in one of the world’s most beautiful bays, knowing that the morning after, the scenery may well be even more divine. There, the winds brush heavenly coloured skies, and uniquely hued seas. The Caribbean’s exhilarating cultural diversity springs from the pilgrims’ eclectic influence, which they so dearly held on to while they were fiercely island grabbing on their way to discover the new continent. Locals stand out for their ever-present “joie de vivre”, and the land will reveal secret old pirates’ trophies for those who know where to look for them. We recommend you set out in search for the good old Jack Sparrow, he most probably is somewhere over the oceans, on board her legendary “Black Pearl”, looking for peace in a hidden corner of the Martinique or Saint Lucia.

taste of the place Mrs Zadie Livingstone’s Steamed Flying Fish

Steamed Flying Fish and Coo-Coo is the national dish of Barbados. No visit to that island would be complete without a taste of this treat. These fishes, which grow to around 15 inches long, live on the surface of the ocean and do not actually fly. They leap into the air and spread their enlarged pectoral fins allowing them to glide over the ocean’s surface with recorded distances of over 600 feet. However, the normal distance is around 30 feet. Yield : 4 servings - 8 flying fish fillets - 3 limes - 1 tbs salt - 3 tbs Barbadian Seasoning - 1 large onion sliced - 6 cloves garlic minced - 1 green bell pepper cut in julienne strips - ½ oz fresh thyme - ½ oz fresh marjoram - 1 tsp parsley chopped - 1 large tomato chopped - 1 tsp limejuice - 2 cups water - ½ tsp hot pepper sauce - ½ tsp curry powder - 3 tbs margarine - seasoned salt to taste

Rub the fish with the juice of the limes and the salt and leave to stand for 10 minutes. Rinse the fish and pat dry with paper towels, then rub in the Barbadian Seasoning. Roll each up (like a sausage) and secure with a toothpick. Heat the margarine in a saucepan and sauté the onion and garlic for 3 minutes, or until the onions become transparent. Add the tomato and parsley and continue to cook for a further 2 minutes. Tie the thyme and marjoram together and add to the pan together with the remaining ingredients – except the fish. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Add the fish and continue to simmer for 10 minutes. Highlights Caribbean

NEW ENGLAND

Stars & Stripes Salt The history of New England’s coastline is one of encounters and exchanges. It is where the American story first started, and where the rescue missions to the Old continent departed. Rebellious during the Prohibition period, it is more often synonymous with the elegance brought upon by the discerned students of the Ivy Leagues schools it was the first to home, and which bred generations of influential men who were to mark the history of the young United States of America. Boswash, for instance, was the Kennedys motherland. After taking refuge in Hyannis harbour, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket island became their favourite playgrounds. Further south in the direction of Florida, Ellis island, for a long time the crossing point from Europe- stands proud, under the watchful eye of miss Liberty. New England’s waters are undoubtedly the theatre of the world’s most beautiful regattas. In fact locals wont fail to remind you that the America’s cup was, after all, American to start with.

7. Drain. 8. Remove chicken from pan, whisk in flour until sauce is thickened and bubbly. 9. For the last 10 minutes of the chicken cooking, add the mushrooms and the vegetable mixture to the chicken. 10. Alternatively, if preparing ahead, once the sauce is thickened and bubbly, you can put the chicken, vegetables, and mushrooms in an oven safe serving dish, and pour the sauce over the top. Place in oven on “warm setting.” Do not increase oven temp, so you don’t dry out the chicken.

1. Melt butter in a dutch oven, add bacon, onions, carrots, garlic, and shallots. 2. Brown lightly. 3. Remove veggies to a separate plate with a slotted spoon, and brown the chicken in the remaining juices. 4. Remove the chicken to a separate plate, add the wine and seasonings, and stir to incorporate all the little brown bits in the pan. 5. Put the chicken back in, turn to low, and simmer for 40 minutes with lid OFF. 6. Lightly saute mushrooms to get rid of the moisture.

Gulets offer large open deck areas for sunbathing, and are fully equipped for watersport activities. The cabins are mostly doubles, with some twins, and all have en-suite shower and toilet. One way cruises and land excursions can be arranged, and the Gulets can also take you to neighbouring Greece. Gulets are designed for comfort rather than speed, boasting strong, heavy construction with powerful engines and beamy hulls. Some have better sailing performance than others : if you are keen to use the sails as much as possible, please tell us at the time of enquiry, so we can ensure the selected Gulet and itinerary suits your desires. Boarding and disembarkation are possible from various ports along the Turkish coast – mainly Gocek, Marmaris and Bodrum- allowing for one-way trips. Other ports may be selected at additional cost. In Turkey, Vickyh Yachting acts as an agent for Flama Tours- one of the most experienced and respected Gulet companies- to ensure you are provided with the best boats and conditions. All their Gulets come with experienced professional crew members, at least one of whom speaks English, and all are child-friendly. A few gulet-style yachts are available for destinations other than Turkey, please ask us for more details. We have divided them into 2 classes : the “luxury” and the “classic” gulets.

The prices include Turkish VAT, transfers from and to nearest airport, windsurfs, dinghies, canoes, fuel for average 4 hours cruising a day, ship’s laundry and water and harbour dues in Turkish waters. The prices do not include clients’ and crew’s food and drinks, harbour taxes and custom formalities if you cruise in Greek waters. Full board provisioning at approx. € 35.– per person per day (breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner) is usually selected by our customers. Soft and alcoholic drinks and seafood are not included in the full board provisioning.

How to book Once you have decided upon your preferred cruising ground and yacht, we will draw up a Charter contract between yourself (the Charterer) and the vessel’s Owner. In this contract, Vickyh Yachting will be mentioned as the Charterer’s Agent. Our commission is included in the charter fee. In order to build a correct budget, it is important to understand the MYBA (Mediterranean Yacht Broker Association) terms under which all yachts usually operate nowadays. These terms are usually applied to charters in the Mediterranean or the Caribbean. The charter fee based on these terms includes the use of the yacht and equipment, the crew’s wages and its food and insurance. All other expenses, such as fuel, food and beverages for the charter party, berthing charges, eventual cruising taxes and onboard communication fees will be charged additionally (Advance Provisioning Allowance). When signing the charter agreement, a deposit of 50 % will be required to confirm the booking. The total remaining balance will be due 4 weeks prior to the agreed boarding date. The additional Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA is usually equivalent to 25% to 30% of the charter fee), and eventual positioning (delivery) charges –if your charter involves meeting or leaving the yacht in a place other than its home port– are to be made together with the second instalment. Upon completion of the charter, you will be presented a final itemised account statement of the APA, showing whether a refund or any further payment is due. Eventual outstanding balance will be refunded to you.

Catering & preference sheet Along with your charter contract, a preference sheet will be provided, which we kindly ask you to complete. This will enable us to itemise in detail your requirements for provisions, recreational interests, any cruising preferences along with any other requests. The completed preference sheet should be sent to us at least 2 weeks before your charter begins and will be forwarded to your captain. Most cooks are able to cater for any dietary requirements. Shall you desire so, we will put you in touch with your captain or cook before your departure to ensure you every desire are fulfilled by our bespoke services.

Crew’s gratuity The crew’s gratuity is entirely at your personal discretion. Should you feel satisfied with the level of service received on board, the usual gratuity amounts to about 5 to 10% of the charter fee. It is customary for the charter party to leave the entire gratuity with the captain with suggestion as to how the gratuity should be distributed among the crew.
