PROJECT TYPE: Logo Design DESCRIPTION: Random letters (a and b) are assigned to create a balanced logo. The final design is a combination of uppercase “B” in Baskerville and lower case “a” in Bodoni. They are integrated into a playful shape. The design breaks the general expectation that lowercase letter should be smaller than uppercase letter. Also the straight left edge creates a nice contrast with the curvilinear right edge.

visual
Vibration Colors of high chroma or high hue contrast against each other will produce visual vibration, and it attracts attention immediately, but the audience may not be able to look at it for long. Delicate use of high saturation colors of mid to high value against certain grays or subdued colors will also produce visual vibration. It is still effective but less disturbing to eyes.
Mind Grenades: Manifestos from the Future This book cover creates strong visual vibration by using high chroma red and high chroma yellow.

Neutrals & Hue 4
Hue is the most obvious color property that we could appreciate and it differentiates red from green, blue from violet, etc. The opposite of hue is neutrals. Neutral usually means without color. What could color add to a black-and-white world? You could image the answer.
In left photo, the artist created a tension between neutral and hue. Our focus is directed to the right part of the model with because of vivid red. Hue grasped audiences’ attention immediately against a neutral background.
These two studies compare the same compositions of neutral and hue. Color is selected to match the black, grays and white, therefore to keep the structure and composition. The colored one may has more specified meaning for individual audience.

This animation is based on Froebel’s third gift. Ground Form is a simple combination of elements.Beauty Forms are evolved from Ground Form by moving the same elements logically and precisely. In this particular project, letters are used instead of blocks in Froebel’s original gift. The whole progress is based on a 2-D grid. The animation pays attention to a methodical evolvement. Rhythm is another important element. It is achieved by the use of varied speed and consistent effects.
PROJECT TYPE: Progressive Type Transformation Animation DESCRIPTION: Same letter forms are used to create four beauty forms. The animation shows the creative flow of letterforms. Story board is created for major frames.
