About me My name is VĂctor FernĂĄndez and I am an Architect post graduated at the Higher Technical School of Architecture (ETSAVA) in Valladolid, Spain. I am a curious, creative, self-disciplined, and hard-working ARCHITECT, DESIGNER and BIM EXPERT. During my international grant, I obtained the best marks in the international academic projects through teamwork and leadership. This experience has been very rewarding both professionally and personally. I am driven, and like making use of the latest software tools and working methodology to accomplish the functionality and attention to details in my projects. Because of that im very keen on BIM tools and methodology. Currently working for Vega Sustainability Engineering as BIM EXPERT, I achieved to implement the BIM methodology in the firm. Vega, located in Valladolid with an office in Ireland as well, specialises in engineering services, architecture and energy simulation. Moreover thanks to their experience and the implementation of BIM in its workflow Vega has become a company of reference in Spain in WELL and LEED projects development and certification.

L ost among Vineyards Ribera de Duero, Spain.

WINE CENTRE. HOTEL, RESTAURANT & SPA Sensory experimentation and relaxation center. The project emphasises the natural landscape in which it is set. As it is well known, the relevance of the wine and vineyards in the Spanish culture makes it paramount to highlight this environment. Architecture allows you to enjoy and get in tune with nature. Located in a privileged, setting Ribera de Duero, the project creates spaces for interrelation, recollection, contemplation, scents and sensations, pervaded by nature.. The program developed by this project focuses on the idea of a comfort place. This idea is translated into a restaurant where you can experience and enjoy the gastronomy of the place, the wine and the countless delicacies of the earth. The minimalistic hotel, a place whose cubic forms are lost among the vineyards, give the user the privacy and communion with nature that can only be achieved in such a place. Finally, the Spa, allows the visitor to enjoy the environment from the sensations of the water and the wine treatments. Main Square

The Wine Cave

Ribera de Duero, Spain. WINERY IN RIBERA DEL DUERO, SPAIN. The project consists in the construction of a Winery (industrial building). It must contain the main spaces necessary to realize every phase of the production line, such as the fermentation hall, the barrels room, bottling and bottle storage. Moreover administrative working areas will be also needed. As we found ourselves in a natural place, we propose a building that is integrated into the environment, which passes unnoticed and manages to blend in with the characteristics of the place. The project develops two overlapping vegetable covers, under which the functional program of the winery is concealed. These roofs penetrate the hillside leaving much of the building buried. This characteristic allows the building to take advantage of the thermal ground inertia used in the HVAC system.

Évora, Portugal. VISITORS CENTRE. WALKING AMONG HISTORY. The Visitors Center designed to be placed in Cromeleque dos Almendres in Évora, is the culmination of a synthesis process between the history and the enviroment that surrounds it. The abstraction of the monoliths located a few meters away, together with the lush vegetation around them and sheltered under the cover of a thin stony roof sets the identity of the project. In essence the project proposes a closedopen space where the boundaries between the two considerations are diffuse. Visitors walk among the rocks to observe them and discover their history, as reflected in the project. The simplicity and the purity of the form, which rests on the essence of the memory of those who, long ago, led the way by laying the first stone.

Cultural Rehabilitation Burgos, Spain.

MONASTERY OF SAN SALVADOR, OĂ‘A. OĂąa monastery has suffered many modifications along its history which have left their traces and scars. On this point, the project team states the need to relieve the monastery of this burden. Through the reference of Carlo Scarpa, it is proposed to free the space and open a large roof that enhances and renders the old door visible, being the main access to the tower. The arches that connect with the inner courtyard are covered in rusty steel, as a mark of the ravages of time. This reinterpretation of the space culminates with a low garden, as an orange tree courtyard, where fruit trees will grow allowing to generate a pleasant and fresh atmosphere. Several paths will criss-cross the garden generating perspectives and views of the door and the new open space extolling the grandeur of the monastery.

Madrid, Spain. SHOPPING CENTRE LA FINCA GRAND CAFÉ. Designed and conceived from the point of view of elegance and know-how, the project has innumerable strategies that will make it a benchmark. The use of water, spaces, the use of light and the filtering of it into its interior, as well as countless energy efficiency factors, will make this project an example to follow not only for its beauty but also for the use of the resources. In this project, the main collaboration has been through the design and calculation of the high efficiency facilities that the building requires. Very high standards of energy efficiency as well as user comfort have been pursued according to the strictest considerations marked by the LEED and WELL certification.

Residential

Cantabria, Spain. APARTMENT IN CANTABRIA The simplicity and marked guidelines requested by the owners translates into a minimalistic global design. Clear spaces that would make the most of the excellent views, were aspects that had to be present in the design. In this project, as well as in the previous one, I have developed the rendering shown here.

Residential

Cantabria, Spain. APARTMENT IN CANTABRIA In a housing in Santander located in Joaquin Costa street it is proposed a new layout project. It is about a 230 m2 flat which is very old and all the inner part is going to be demolished. The new proposal tries to find a new functional and confortable layout taking advantage of outer spaces. This way we can have a greater sense of spaciousness and the flat can be lit up in all spaces. This design has been developed in collaboration with Candela EguĂa, Architect.

Architecture, irrespective of the period, movement, type, model, technique or idea, invariably rests on the ground. this is the basis for this work: to present the reader with a clear and straightforward analysis of the importance of the relationship between architecture and the ground on which it rests.

Architects J. Herzog and P. de Meuron will be our companions on this journey, and we will be using their work as an example in order to demonstrate the importance of this relationship. Fourty years of professional practice and above all world wide recognition in the field of architecture answer for them.
