Victoria Moulin architect
Be an architect, a desire which came to me at the age of 14 and never left me. I have always liked imagine, creating, drawing, matching, doing odd jobs, ... I’m a perfectionist and rigorous, i do not stop as long as I am not satisfied by the accomplished work. I know how to work in a group, I rather have the temperament of a leader, I like making the decisions and to organize the work. I like working the smallest dimension of the architecture, the
scale of live, needs for humans within architecture. Heigne street n°4 Viesville 6230, Belgique Saint Bernardus Street n°73, Saint Gilles 1060, Belgique

The project consists on the realization of an apartment building in a fictional context which was imposed on us. The project has a north-west facade with street and a south-east facade in contact with the garden. The last two facades are against adjoining 14 meters high. The program consists on 12 apartments frome 0 to 4 bedrooms. The first desire was to open the building towards the back to take advantage of the south east orientation. The challenge was to allow every apartment to benefit from the best orientation. The apartments overlap along the adjoining, from the largest four bedrooms apartment to the small studio, giving place to an inner courtyard. The entrane to the building is made by a void at all levels on the side of the facade. The inhabitants can take one of the 2 circulations or enjoy the courtyard. Servants spaces are settled along the adjoining. Adjoinings become inhabited walls where bathroom, small office space, storage, laundry follow on after the other. Living rooms and bedrooms enjoy large corner openings and balconies overlooking the courtyard.

The project consist on the realization of a fitness gym and a community center in the North of the city center of Charleroi. The plot is at the end of an avenue. A park, which covers the ring of Charleroi, borders the rear of the plot. The program requires working with small and large ranges at the structural level. We chose to work with a wood structure. The project settles down a few meters back from the street to create a smal place that allows users to settle. A contrast is created between the horizontality of the gym, which is part of the slope, and the verticality of the neighborhood house, which aligns with the templates of other buidings in the street. Pedestrian and bike access to the park is created along the gym. The ascent is slow and allows to observe the athletes in full exercise. The ground floor welcome a ÂŤ game coffee ÂŤ where young and old can come to play a board game or a eletronic game. Locker rooms is located in the back side of the park. They allow the players to reach directly the fitness gym. The cafetaria settle down on the first floor, with a wide view on the gym, an access to the terraces but also a terrace that leads to the park. The following floors welcome the functions of the community center : a library, creative studios, an computer room and a multipurpose room on the top floor to enjoy the view of the city. We chose to work with completely glazed facades in front of which a wooden cladding sieve the light.
A MUSICAL HIDING Individual Project second year of Bachelor 2014 - 2015, semester 2
The project is set up in Saint-Gilles, a municipality in the Brussels metropolitan. The plot was chosen during a preliminary group work. The program consists on housing and a commercial function to choose according to the needs of the neighborhood. The chosen plot is located on one of the main street of the town, ChaussÊe de Waterloo. It is lined with small shops and housing in floors. The plots of the street are, on the whole, very narrow in front and long towards the interior. The worked plot of land measures 4 meter of wide and 28 meter of length. The town hosts several music school but no concert place to allow young artists to occur. The creation of a musical hiding offers to all a meeting place, learning and the opportunity to occur in front of a small public. The project is divided into 3 parts separated by patios. The first part consist on a ground floor for the musical hiding and a triplex 3 bedrooms. The second part is a small concert hall. The third place is a duplex intended to welcome a student. 3 parts are connected between them by corridors opened on patios. The triplex works in half-levels to win a maximun of place by avoiding big flights of staircase. A central core stiffens the structure of the complex and houses the water features. The inhabitants of the triplex share their life with the musical hiding. Indeed, during concert evenings, a gallery is accessible trough the resident’s stay to admire the artists. This concert space changes function as the day progresses. In the morning and afternoon, it is a place of learning. At the end of the afternoon, it is a place of meetings and sharing for adults and children. In the evening, the room livens up and becomes a place of scenic performance.

the project is located in Tubize, in Brabant Wallon, Belgium. The town has been hit several times by major floods further to the overflowing of the Seine. A meadow, situated in the middle of the city and crossed by the Sein, serves as storm basin. It’s on this meadow that we were suggested us to set up a dike accompanied by a lake and a restaurant area. The dike established discreetly in the landscape. it is composed of triangular panels covered with grass of different sizes and different slopes. The dike winds, dilates and retracts. Cones of 3 triangular pieces stand on the dike to protect and guide the users along the sinuous course. The restaurant area is hidden in the dike. It can be reached by being on the dike by a staircase along a cone or by a ramp which comes down directly along the water point. Cabins for the bathing and the restauration area are enlightened by 2 light shaft. These are created by the absence of a piece of cones installed on the dike. The shape of cones is visible from the inside. The terrace allows to settle down at the water’s edge.

The project of the year in master's degree invites the students to wonder about a territory and to develop a vision thoughout a project . The chosen site is located west of Charleroi city center, the old mining town in southern Belgium. A wide zone abandoned by the man where falls in ruins what remains coal mines and steel industry. For the first part of the analysis, we were interested in the nature of the soil and the plants that invaded the old industrial facilities. It is an extremely polluted site. it is morever for that reason that this territory stays without new function In the second part of the project, we suggest cleaning up the site by the phytoremediation. this technique involves planting plant species that can accumulate heavy metals in their sheets. The site being vast we suggest proceeding in 3 times on 3 different pieces of the territory. Each of these zones, once cleared , could be reused. One of the areas was particulary developed, the one that we were most impressed due to the scale of the vestiges of the industry, the one that we shall consider as symbolic. We suggest to cleaning up the zone in several phasesand by installing, as one goes along, the necessary equipments. A training place, offices, cafetaria take place in an already present industrial building on the site. Secondly, a storage place as well as a greenhouse settle down in two others small buildings on the site. The last stage of the project proposes to create a square along the road of Mons with a building of exhibition and concert on the high part of the site. A new public place which emphasizes the industrial heritage of the ÂŤblack CountryÂť

The materiality and eco-design module A option is developed over a semester and aims particularly at the constructive design and at the perfomances. The project consists in designing a new envelope for a building (Ucl Agro Faculty located at Croix du Sud 1-4) In Louvain-La-Neuve. This building is mainly built of concrete. Circular columns ending in capitals support large concrete slabs. These slabs extend in front to create a corridor serving as evacuation path. The railings create lonh horizontal bands. The entire facade is glazed between columns. The thermal losses of these buildings are catastrophic. The simple glazing hangs on the column by a simple joint. The slab that extends outside represents a significant thermal weakness. The first part of the work will try to solve the problems of energy perfomance and physical environments (light, acoustic, hydrothermal). The second part will consist in putting in place the devices chosen in the first part by reaching a good technical (watertighnesses, thermal and acoustic resistances, ...) We chose to work on a facade exposed south. The challenge was to protect from glare throughout the day but also to enjoy the sun to warm up the classes in winter. We chose horiontal sunshades. We determined their nombers and their orientations by a series of iterations tested on Velux Daylight Vizualizer as well as on Ecotect. The different situations have been tested in order to avoid a maximum dazzling of the users. Technically, we chose to work with a curtain wall. On each floor, we placed a lenght of 1 meter 20 to reduce thermal losses that would have generated a completely glazed facade. This one consists on a sandwich panel. The curtain walls create facades punctuated by the amounts and the through which are the only elements in relief. We wanted to avoid the visual impact of this structure of curtain wall by choosing profiles with a cap to create vacuum joints between components. The attachment of the sunshade system has also been studied in detail.

A CARDBOARD FACADE Materiality and eco design option, three student work 2017 - 2018, semester 1
Module B of the materiality and eco-design options aims to experiment with the different aspects and requirements related to the materiality of an envelope built by the realization of a prototype. The exercise involves designing and creating a life-size facade wall. The design is based on several theoretical supports concerning envrionmental impacts of building materials, the analysis of life cycles, the adaptability, the flexibility and the reversibility of construction systems. twelve students work on the same wall with a primary structure common. The wall is then divided into 4 strips of 1m wide by 3m high. Groups of three students are formed to work on the facing of the facade : thermal insulation, air and watertightness, interior finish, ... Our group of twelve chose to work with recycled or re-used materials. During the discussions two materials drew our attention : the tire, using in the constructions ÂŤEarthshipÂť and the cardboard, in particular the cardboard tubes used by the Japanese architecte Shigeru Ban. After several weeks of discussions, drawings and harvest of materials we were able to realize a sample to test the constructive system which we had just invented. This experience allowed us to understand that it was not easy to operate certain details as we had drawn. The structure is finally composed of 18cm diameter cardboard mandrels anchored in three tires. Then, we create a coffering OSB and DWD filled with cellulose. We also wanted to use cardboard for the floor. The latter is composed of mandrels, small cardboard tubes of 5cm diameter and honeycombed cardboard of 6cm thick. Finally, it was necessary to attack the construction of the entire wall. A big challenge for a part of the groupe which had never had the opportunity to make such a structure. It was neccessary to us one week to build the total of our prototype. For the facade material, our groupe of three chose plastic. We discovered Govaplasr, which makes panel from recycled plastic chips. The panels produced by the compagny are used to make terraces and fences. We met the challenge to adapt their system to be able to apply it in facade. The firm supplied us the small pastic plays which allows to fix panels. We completed the fixing system with small steel angles. The plastic panels are fixed to the structure by means of a wooden battens. I personally chose to take care of the organization of the group (realieation planning, distribution of the tasks, ...) but also the drawing of the technical detail.
