Pinktober — more formally known around the globe as Breast Cancer Awareness month, is a major health awareness campaign, designed to increase the awareness of breast cancer as well as inspire action. According to the Jamaica Cancer Society, breast cancer is the number one cause of cancer related deaths in Jamaica. Inspire hope among your mothers, sisters and friends by encouraging them to seek early detection through mammograms, education and support through organisations, like the Jamaica Cancer Society.
Schedule yearly mammogram screening with your healthcare provider
•
Do monthly breast examinations (done by you, a nurse or doctor), especially if you are over 40 years old
•
Eat less fat and consume more fruits and vegetables
•
Manage stress, reduce stress, exercise often and sleep well

VM TIDBITS CONGRATULATIONS NICOLE ADAMSON! CFA BOARD APPOINTMENT Congratulations to our very own Nicole Adamson, Research Manager, VM Wealth, on being appointed to the Board of the Chartered Financial Analyst Society Jamaica (CFA). Nicole joins other distinguished professionals within the financial sector in Jamaica, in a bid to raise professional standards within the industry. The CFA Jamaica Society is the local chapter of the CFA Institute. CFA is the gold standard in the community of investment professionals and promotes awareness, understanding of securities analysis, investing, and the operation of the securities market. It should be noted that the CFA Society Jamaica members are well-known within the investment decision-making community, as knowledgeable and ethical. Together the CFA Institute and CFA Society Jamaica, provide practitioners with a passport to the global professional industry in over 160 financial markets around the world. THE SPECIAL TEAM MEMBER ASSISTANCE PROGRAMME (STMAP) The VM Group continues to be a strong advocate for our Team Members’ well-being. Our Special Team Member Assistance Programme (STMAP), was specially designed to provide an avenue for charitable contributions to VM Group Team Members, as well as their immediate family members. The assistance should be towards meeting medical and social emergencies. In cases of emergencies, assistance will be considered for VM Group Team Members, and their immediate family members including children, stepchildren, parents, spouses (as defined by law), siblings and grandparents in particular cases. Our STMAP will be administered by a cross-functional committee, comprising of six VM Group Team Members. All requests for the programme will be screened by the Committee, to determine authenticity and eligibility based on pre-determined criteria.
