Jesus in the Streets: A Western Spanish Outreach Initative
On October 14, for the first time ever, the Western Spanish Church closed its doors on Sabbath morning and headed out to the streets of their community in Sunshine to be "Jesus in the Streets."
Their mission for the day was to foster a deeper connection with their community while imparting knowledge about health, overall well-being, and faith in Christ.
The church members worked together to bring these ideas to life by offering massages, conducting blood pressure checks, distributing health literature and signs magazines, and handing out water bottles and fruit juices (it was a warm day).
A dedicated group of church members also took on the important task of conducting home visitations to offer prayers, food parcels, and support to those facing difficulties or who had been absent from church.
In Acts 20:35, Paul quotes Jesus saying:
“In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
As they ventured out to bless and reconnect with their community on that warm, beautiful Sabbath day, the words of Jesus became a reality.
