HOTEL BRANDING NOTES Guests have the opion to sit and relax in the lobby waiing area provided. The deep blue carpet sets the space apart from the rest of the lobby to difereniate the waiing area from the recepion space. Abstract painings incorporate the lively hues of the Painted Hills to lighten and bring vibrancy to the space. The wood feature wall that separates the lobby and retail shop resembles the grain in wood. This brings a natural yet sophisicated aspect to the lobby waiing area.

KEY PLAN

Accreion, the restaurant name, originated from the process by which The Wallowas were created. Sediments and other materials are added to a tectonic plate to create a unique landmass. The various materials that relect The Wallowas are displayed through coarse textures, wood and stone surfaces, and organic wall features.

RESTAURANT BAR

The back-lit bar, mimics the mountainous terrain as well as wooded areas found intertwined within The Wallowas. A feature living wall greets guests at the restaurant’s grand entrance, and captures the organic essence of The Wallowas. Rough textures surround the private dining area to imitate the coarse landscape on the mountain side. Bold colors are accented in the space among the natural hues on the looring and wood accents.

AESTAS

CHALLENGE Design a restaurant using cultural research of an internaional city. Develop an ideniiable concept and branding that will atract both locals and tourists to the dining facility.

CONCEPT Aestas is a leisurely restaurant located in Gothenburg, Sweden, and is inspired by the annual Swedish Midsummer Fesival. Swedes adore the anicipated arrival of the yearly summer solsice and the simplicity of summer months to come. This holiday honors the Earth’s forthcoming prosperity of growth, and the fundamental design features of Aestas relects Mother Nature’s four major elements which are most dominant during the summer solsice. Earth, wind, ire, and water features envelope the space so that every new scene is a diferent experience.

SOLUTION

By combining the four elements: earth, wind, ire, and water, diferent experiences are achieved in the restaurant. A variety of table seings and seaing opions enable guests to select their own dining experience. Earth tone colors, natural textures, and materials are incorporated to further the concept of the four elements.

SWEETGUM BREWERY

CHALLENGE

A collaboraive design project emphasizing a group interacion between Architecture, Building Construcion Science, Graphic Design, and Interior Design students to research and recreate an exising building within downtown Starkville. This space will serve as an upcoming brew house for the Starkville based brewery, SweetGum, as well as a community gathering spot for public events to take place.

CONCEPT

Located in downtown Starkville, Mississippi, SweetGum Brewing Company is inspired by the 3-ier system focusing on the idea of “center”. Staring with the interior, the brewing process is highlighted by being the center of the actual structure, where tours take place. The building structure then serves as the “center” of the site as it meshes with the interacion of outside. The community becomes the main “center” of the site when community based events take place at SweetGum’s outdoor gathering area, thus forming a 3-ier center.

SOLUTION

Based on the 3-ier center, the interior, the building, and the community, the design of the brewery is intended to highlight the brewing process within the interior space, the mixed-use site of the exterior space, and how those together create a community based area for the public to enjoy.

CHALLENGE

Create a space and lighing plan using Cooper Lighing Industries products. Include in the lighing plan ixtures for ambient, task, and accent lighing to provide the interior environment with proper illuminaion.

CONCEPT

The pet store, Life is Ruf, was inspired by the idea of luxury for pets. The space plan of the overall store is a whimsical interpretaion of a dog’s proile which is also relected in the store branding. The highend design of the interior leads customers around the space staring from the entrance and ulimately ending with purchases at the cash wrap. The lighing plan accentuates glam merchandise for pampered pets, and the retail experience, while also providing ambient lighing for everyday tasks.

SOLUTION

Cooper Lighing Industries track and cove lighing was selected for the perimeter of the store to highlight the custom product displays. The feature lighing design behind the cash wrap includes wall sconces which present the illusion of a lavish tuted wall. The grooming room lighing includes pendants above each grooming and bathing tub to provide extra task lighing for the space. Fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and exit signs have also been supplied to ensure safety during an emergency.

CHALLENGE

Research and develop a muli-service corporate oice that promotes the idea of lexibility, community, and collaboraion, among the variety of spaces. The spaces should cater equally to the interacive crowd as well as provide muliple areas that support areas for focused work. A combinaion of Steelcase furniture should be incorporated to exemplify a palete of place and posture.

CONCEPT

The concept of this space is based on the illustraions of a city subway mapping system. A map is a picture, chart, or representaion, that highlights the feature of an area or porion of the earth, showing areas in their respecive forms, sizes, and relaionships according to diferent convenions. Maps are tradiionally used to guide people towards a certain direcion, but they also interconnect millions of people every day. The intertwining lines of a city subway map can be compared to how a coworking space funcions, and will serve as diferent points of collaboraion as well as connect people throughout the space.

SOLUTION The goal of this space is diferent from a typical oice since the overall purpose is to cater to a varied demographic of workers, all under the same roof. This is achieved by providing an array of transformable and mulipurpose spaces that ensure wellbeing, creaivity, and producivity of the members. Concept

Based on research of coworking spaces, the goal of this space is different from a typical office because the overall purpose is to cater to a varied demographic of workers, all under the same roof. The idea of flexibility, community, and collaboration all resonate throughout this space to ensure wellbeing, creativity, and productivity of the members. This space is designed to care equally to both the interactive crowd as well as the people that prefer to do heads down focused work. Coworking spaces work best together when they are transformable, multipurpose, and create an overall flow throughout the space. The palette of place and posture are the two major factors in designing this space. These four settings work together to form a space that has flexible boundaries, and overall succeeds at creating an interconnected work place.

MEN’S RESTROOM IN BETWEEN SPACE

Located among the bustling streets of downtown Atlanta, the NEXT Coworking Office is an upcoming space for NEXT members, and the like, to gather and retreat from the typical office work space. NEXTers are members that range from early entrepreneurs to the on the go mobile worker in search of a new and exciting environment to work at away from home and the typical office.

The concept of this space is based on the illustrations of a city subway mapping system. A map is a picture, chart or representation, usually on a flat surface, that highlights the features of an area or portion of the earth, showing areas in their respective forms, sizes, and relationships according to different conventions of representation. Maps are traditionally used to guide or lead people some certain direction, and they also interconnect millions of people every day. The intertwining lines of a city subway map can be compared to how a coworking space functions, and will serve as different points of collaboration as well as connect people throughout the space. The linear and geometric shapes are used as inspiration throughout the space as well as a means of way-finding on the floor. PRODUCT DESIGN

HAVANA LIGHTS CHANDELIER The design concept of the Havana Lights luminaire relates to the reuse, recycle, and rebuild of everyday ordinary materials. The materials incorporated into the design include two simple items, cut up cigar boxes, and bronze safety pins. The main pendant holder is a single unique cigar box placed upside down to suspend the lamping underneath. The chandelier strings are a mix of cut up cigar box pieces as well as strung safety pins. The chain is a reused pendant element from the 1980’s and the lamp is turned on and of with a switch. The pendant is designed to appeal to a masculine vintage design palete and aestheic.

In Unison

Furniture Design Compeiion The In Unison chair, made for Knoll, is modeled ater the popular Brno Chair by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. The design of the chair focuses on the linear aspect of the assembly of the chair, and how the pieces come together to form one beauiful piece of work. The potenial use of the chair can be anything from casual to formal use. The texile upholstered on the chair is from the Knoll Luxe Collecion, and the frame of the chair is made from polished stainless steel, replicaing the original.
