Before starting to lead a group of volunteers, you have to make sure that you are grounded in your values and know the goals that you hope to achieve during the time of your leadership. Values are a set of standards that determine attitudes, choices and actions. Understanding your values will help you focus on objectives that are important to both you and your teammates.

Ask Yourself Activity Two:

workshop Start the workshop with a big question. “What goal do you want to accomplish?” Bring in big sheets of paper and make your leaders in training fill the paper with the top 5 values they came up with the last meeting. Then branch out from there and encourage them to ask big questions.

It’s okay if you can’t answer them just all at once. You definitely need time to think about it so use your starting time wisely. Answering and understanding these questions enables you to keep in mind the major things in the journey of your leadership.
