The relationship betweenRobert Schumann, Clara Schumann (née Wieck), and Johannes Brahms has long been the subject of speculation. Following three programs on this subject in 2021/22, we continue our three-year exploration of the life and times of this artistic circle, as well as the romantic and musical relationships that link them. To enhance the depth of this focus, with the support of the Hugh Davidson Fund at the Victoria Foundation, the Victoria Symphony and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestras have jointly commissioned Ian Cusson and Cassandra Miller to compose responses to symphonic works by Schumann.
