adies, it has always been in my heart as a woman, wife, mother, Co-Pastor/Spiritual Mother figure to inform, encourage, inspire and uplift women of all ages through a newsletter/magazine… Well! My dream has come to pass “Praise the Lord!!!” Dreaming is God’s idea! He would never give them if He wasn’t planning to bring them to pass. Acts 2:17 says, “young men/women will see visions and old men/women will dream dreams.” Why does He say “old men/ women?” Because we are to never stop dreaming! When we “Dream Big” we give “God” something to work with. Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” According to Habakkuk 2:2; we must write the vision/dream on the table of our heart; so the ones who read it may run with it; be inspired, uplifted and encouraged to pursue their dream. Never limit God! Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” I want to encourage all of my beautiful sisters/daughters to never settle with just surviving in life; Dream Big… It’s God’s will for us to live our life, enjoying it and have it in abundance, to the full, till it overflows. St. John 10:10b. Therefore, we must seek God’s will for our life. He’s given all of us talents, gifts and abilities. We are blessed to be a blessing!!! Never doubt in your heart!!! You may ask; can God use me? Can my dreams come to pass? Absolutely Yes!!! St. Matthew 6:33

says, “But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you.” Dreaming big is God’s idea and it enables Him to do what He longs to do in and through us for His glory!!! Now, decree and declare along with me by saying: I will think big, ask big, believe big and dream big. I will fill my heart with God’s promises, creating His dreams for my life. In Jesus’ name amen!!! In closing, much love and appreciation goes out to Sister Lisa Hamilton and Sister Cynthia Jordan, for believing in my vision/ dream; taking hold of it, running with it and bringing it to pass! Our very first VWOE Women’s Magazine!!! You both are very beautiful and brilliant, spiritual daughters of Word of Oasis. For that, Bishop and I are very grateful!!! I give double honor to the world’s greatest husband, father, Senior Pastor/Founder of Word of Oasis, Bishop/ Dr. Henry R. Williams; my amazing husband! Thank you for believing in me, praying and supporting my vision and dreams. I would also like to acknowledge my son, Aaron and my two gorgeous daughters, Rashonda and Shakira; who love, pray for and encourage their mom. I love you all to life!!! Last but not least, to my Word of Oasis family; remember this is our year of “Supernatural Recovery” in 2014!!! “Our past has passed.” (Nahum 1:9) You are greatly loved and appreciated!!!

looked nice it didn’t matter how much it cost. Since we serve an excellent God, who is outstanding and incredible, that’s what really made me say, OK, we are women and we need to represent God with excellence. The victorious part is because we serve a Holy God. Our morals are important and we should lead by example to the women in our community.

Pastor Gwen: As I stated, I had to learn a lot of things. Speaking from a Pastor’s wife/Co-Pastor perspective, I had to learn a lot through trial and error. Love Is Everything And Then

Bishop Henry R. Williams, D.D., A True Mighty Man of Valor!

o love and be loved; the very thing that most people desire and the very thing that some refuse to give. Love, the very thing that some say that they fall into but somehow so easily fall out of! It’s been said that “Love is what makes the world go round.” Love: the very quintessential character trait of a person who calls themselves Christians. Our Head and Founder, Christ Jesus, said it's what’s required so that men will know that we are His disciples. However, in the world today and even in the community of the church, it seems to be just a thing of the distant past. Jesus said in Matthew 24:12; “And because iniquity shall abound, the love on many shall wax cold.” The amplified version says, “And the love of the great body of people will grow cold because of multiplied law-

T

lessness (without restraint) and iniquity (twistedness or moral crookedness). In the Greek the word “wax” is: psoo'-kho; which means, reduction of temperature by evaporation to chill. The word cold in the Greek is the same word for wax. So, here it is, a double negative, being projected and the prophets hang on these commandments. You may ask; why is love so important to God?

Love is the person and personality of the only, One, true and living God! This is something Adam and Eve didn’t know and believe. Had they believed in God’s love for them, the devil would not have been successful in tempting them. Jesus answered this in His prayer for us in John 17:23, “I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.” God’s love for us is equivalent to the same love that He has for His Son,

12 Victorious Woman Spring 2014

Jesus. John 15:13 says, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” Love is important to God because He Himself is the very essence of Love. Love is God. When we choose to walk in God, love becomes who we are because He is Love. What Love got to do with it? Tina Turner said that “it’s just a second hand emotion.” Well, she was limited to her perspective at the time this song was written due to her environment. And secondly, she apparently didn’t know that love is not an emotion; Love is the person and personality of the only, One, true and living God! This is something Adam and Eve didn’t know and believe. Had they believed in God’s love for them, the devil would not have been successful in tempting them. Joseph Prince said this in his book, “The Power of Right Believing,” “the real reason believers are still entangled with sin and the world is because the love of the Father is not in him.” He based his assessment on 1 John 2:15, “If anyone loves the world, Visit www.wordofoasis.org

the love of the Father is not in him.” Notice that it is the love of the Father, not the love for the Father. So people who love the world and are trapped by worldly pursuits are actually people who don’t know or don’t believe in their hearts the love of the Father for them.” The scripture tells us that “faith worketh by love.” So, in order for my faith to work it means that I have to walk in love. We understand from the Word that “faith pleases God.” Ephesians 2:4–5 says, 4

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love

wherewith he loved us, 5Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)” So then, I need faith in order to receive salvation. In order for me to operate in faith I must have love at work in my life. The dimensions of God’s love for us is past finding out. Hum! So then, I conclude: what’s really important in life is that “Love is everything and then some;” because love not only keeps us in this life but will sustain us in the life to come.

P.S. I would like to express my love and devotion to the love of my life, and MY WIFE FOR LIFE, PASTOR GWEN. Thank you for standing by me and undergirding me for 32 YEARS in marriage and ministry! Discover the Passion You Have Inside Of You

F

inding a passion of yours can sometimes feel like a never ending journey. I don’t know about you but I was on that journey. I would always hear Pastor Gwen share her heart on wanting to see our newsletter evolve into a magazine. It hit my spirit one day when I heard her say it again. I began to wonder how I could be a part of making her desire for a magazine come to life. I began a search on the Internet on how to do a magazine cover, and the rest is history. I would get so caught up in learning how to do things for this project that I would not realize how much time I had been on the computer. Now talk about a passion for something; I had discovered one for sure. I have participated in several departments at church, but I started feeling I wanted to give more in another area in which I could share things I learned to do in my spare time on different computer programs. Pastor Gwen sharing her heart about this magazine pulled something out of me that I did not know was locked up inside of me. She helped me discover one of my passions. My question to you is have you discovered the passion you have inside of you? The passion you have locked up inside of you might have you thinking I want to do this, but I just don't know how or I am not an expertise at it. However, I heard Bishop Williams say one service that when you have a passion for something God will equip you with everything you need. Sometimes it may take doing a little more research, going back to school, or God just placing those prominent people in your path, but there are a ton of resources available to help you fill that passion. I know I truly had found one of my passions when I shared with

my husband that I wanted to help with this magazine venture. He listened to me go on and on about this magazine and what I had learned to do each time, I discovered something different in the computer programs. He said to me, I know you have found a passion inside of you because you should see the way your face lights up and how excited you get when you talk about this magazine. He was so happy for me. This melted my heart, and I am so grateful for how patient he and my children were with me while learning this new task. It wasn’t easy, but although you may not believe it sometimes when things are easy they don’t give the opportunity for things locked up inside of you to come out. When something is challenging it draws stuff out of you, and pushes you to want to learn more, especially after you have made it over that first hurdle. I can share with you that when I first started school to learn more about doing a magazine I got to class and my teacher wanted us to get right to work. My entire life I had always worked on a Windows PC, and had never operated a Mac computer. I wanted to cry the first day of class because I didn’t even know where to enter the disc that came with my book. I looked around the classroom and saw all these students operating these computers and programs like they were pros. I thought to myself what in the world have I gotten myself into. However, God always places people in your path. I just swallowed my pride and asked a guy sitting next to me, and he helped me. Then I was informed that the students who looked like pros to me really were kind of pros because they were in their last semester to graduate, lol. I was further informed that the classroom we worked in was also used for other classes, and any student was able to work on the computers even if a class is being taught. You can’t allow fear and intimidation to grip your heart. I sure wanted to walk out after seeing how much these students knew, but if I would have walked out, I would have never known that these students

22 Victorious Woman Spring 2014

weren’t even in my introductory class. Also there are times when the first door that opens seems so perfect but then it might end up not being the final door. I started off in school, but it didn't work in my favor. You actually sometimes know more than you think you do. You will be surprised what you can teach yourself. Then God has a special way of placing special people in your life to enhance what you've already learned. God did that just for me. God blessed me to be able to meet an individual that would be willing to give of his time to answer any questions that I had on this road to creating and designing a magazine. What an awesome God we serve. Whatever it is you have a passion for I support you by saying go for it and allow God to be in control. I want to thank Pastor Gwen for allowing me to be part of something so dear to her heart. Thank you to Bishop and Pastor Gwen for allowing me as you both taught us to bloom where we are planted. Words cannot express how truly grateful I am that we have such wonderful pastors that allow us to discover what God has called us to do and be in life. Thank you both for the countless hours of counseling and teaching that helped direct me in the right path. Thank you to your children, my spiritual siblings, Aaron, Rashonda, and Shakira. You all sacrifice so much as well to allow Bishop and Pastor Gwen to do all God has called them to do even if that takes a little away from you all. Thank you to Sister Cynthia Jordan who was in charge of our newsletter, and was so willing to allow me to be a part of helping to upgrade our newsletter into a magazine. Thank you again to my wonderful husband, Noel, and our three beautiful children, Alyssia, Makinzie, and Dylan for the sacrifices you made along with me to help me fulfill this passion of mine. Thank you to Word of Oasis for being the World’s Greatest Church!

“Is Your Hair Under the

WEATHER?”

Vivian Elaine Bennett Owner/Master Cosmetologist

S

pring is upon us and summer is fast approaching. Although it is a time for “fun in the sun”, the salt and chlorine along with warm weather, increased humidity,

sun-exposure and outdoor activities can cause the softest hair to become brittle. Chlorine and salt water can dry, discolor and damage hair. The mineral deposits in salt water can make hair brassy. I thus stress the importance of choosing the right products and

services as well as a protective style during these seasons. Is your hair natural or chemically processed? What are your plans for the spring and summer? Do you work out? These are some of the questions that your stylist should ask you when choosing a service or style. For example, I would not suggest any chemical services during the months of May, June, and July if your plans involve any swimming, trips to the beach or vigorous workouts because style retention would be difficult as well as time consuming. A protective style such as cornrows,

individual plaits, or twist would be a better choice being that you will have to wash your hair more frequently with a SULFATEFREE, clarifying shampoo followed by SULFATE-FREE hydrating shampoo and then a leave-in conditioner. NEVER let sweat, chlorine or saltwater sit in your

hair overnight. Whether you are natural or chemically processed, it is important that you DO NOT use grease. Use a light oil, such as jojoba, almond, coconut, or carrot

oil along with a daily GLYCERINFREE moisturizer. On humid days, the use of any product containing glycerin will only pull in more moisture and cause the shaft to swell and frizz. Avoid products containing mineral or petro oil because they block any moisture from penetrating the shaft. Avoid the use of heavy creams. Apply a light hair dress to your ends to prevent them from splitting. If you are going to be in the sun for an extended period of time, twist it up, or wrap it up with a beautiful scarf or wear a hat to prevent overexposure to the sun. If you are natural, I would not suggest any pressing during the summer because the heat causes sweat, Visit www.wordofoasis.org

from the inside. Water is the main source of energy for hair cells. Water clears the body of any pollutants which can also cause hair loss. When there is dehydration, you will also see dryness in your hair. So it is crucial that we drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day.

WEATHERPROOF YOUR HAIR, LADIES‌ sweat prevents style retention and too much pressing can permanently press out your curl pattern. For those of you who may opt-out of a protective style it is recommended that you DO NOT wash your hair more than once a week. Wear a swim-cap when swimming to protect your hair. If necessary, you may co-wash your

hair with a conditioning rinse in between shampoos. A conditioning rinse will lift any build-up and deposit moisture without stripping your hair. Last but not least, DRINK MORE WATER!!!! Did you know that your hair is one quarter water. Water carries vital vitamins to the hair root and hydrates the entire hair strand

I want to share the importance of letting go of past or present hurts and how it blesses your life. me angry, bitter, resentful, mean, although I told myself that I forgave the ones involved, I discovered the problem was that I never let go. I found out that forgiving someone is only half the battle, but to experience the true freedom of victory comes when you release that individual or situation. Then, you can take advantage of the promise Jesus gave us in John 16:33, letting us know we can triumph over challenges and receive a peace in being victorious. For over twenty years every time I would pray about peace and challenges in my life the Lord would always take me back to Romans 12:1-2. As always I would

just say man, Lord what are you saying I know what that scripture says, I can quote it without even turning to the page. Then, one day after hearing a message that Bishop preached, the light came on in my heart and I had to go home and read it again. Not only that but it also prompted me to send him and Pastor Gwen an email and come clean about some issues that were unresolved in my heart. It was that founded revelation given to me in love by our Bishop that has inspired me to share what I have learned. Now, Praise God that we don’t have to hide our scars, the scars of the event whatever it maybe is not who you are. But rather look at it as a reminder of where God has brought you from. This is what God showed me in Romans, and I just sat there in His glory as the tears of healing locked under my chin. All the while the Lord was admonishing me to allow the Word and the teachings under the ministry where I was now set to renew my way of thinking and transform my way of living so that I can see change. LOVING THE REAL YOU Written By: Shakira R. Williams

W

ebster defines love as being an “n. 1. feeling of strong attachment induced by that which delights or commands admiration; preeminent kindness or devotion to another; affection; tenderness….v. 3. To take delight in; to have a strong liking or desire for, or interest in, to be pleased with, to like.” Love is the highest and most sacred form of devotion to God, ourselves and others. However, living in today’s society, love is undermined to meet a stipulation which in turn has distorted its true meaning. For example, love is at its greatest only when you feel and look your best, your relationships are tighter than ever, your spiritual clout is at its highest and everything is going great. Although, we all wish that were true for everyday life, sadly this picture of perfection is one-sided to an unrealistic standard. But the good news, as believers, we do not have to accept what the world says love is limited to because we know that love does not have any conditions. Love remains the same through the good, bad, and the ugly. God is love and He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. According to James 1:17(CEB), “Every good gift, every perfect gift, comes from above. These gifts come down from the Father, the creator of the heavenly lights, in whose character there is no change at all.” Our heavenly Father gave us His Son, Jesus, as a gift to signify His unfailing love for humanity and once we recognize who we really are in Christ Jesus then our love for ourselves and others will begin to reflect His unchanging love for us. Love is like a chain reaction, if you love God the way that you are supposed to then you will know how to love yourself and others. In order to embark on the journey towards loving the real you, you must reexamine your relationship with God, your thought life, and daily confession. It is imperative to have a personal relationship with God because you will begin to find out who you really are in Him and start loving the real you. Growing up, my mother always told me how important it was to build an intimate, personal relationship with God, but I did not come into that realization until I reached middle school. For most people, middle school age is when your eyes come open to a world of pressures from a mental, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual perspective. You become cognizant of various insecurities, such as physical features, due to the metamorphic process that takes place during the time of puberty. Oh yes, the process seems like a horrific time where

32 Victorious Woman Spring 2014

you feel, look, and act like a mutant; but thank God for deliverance. The saying, “this too shall pass”, definitely described my pre-teen years. If it was not for my personal relationship with God, the spirit of mild-depression would have had a strong grip on my life. I had to get serious about my walk with Christ at an early age because that is when the enemy starts to throw his detrimental darts of discouragement. Once I totally surrendered my life over to Christ that is when I recognized that I had the greater One within me and His love helped me get through the awkward phases of pre-teen and teenage years. Moreover, once you accept the love of God into your heart, in turn you will learn to accept yourself for who you really are. I agree with Joyce Meyers when she stated that, “once you realize you are loved by God, not because of anything you are or anything you have done, you can quit trying to earn His love and simply receive and enjoy it.” Building a personal relationship with God is just the foundation towards loving the real you; however, you must become transformed and renewed in your mind through the washing of the Word of God. A negative thought life can prevent you from freely receiving the unconditional love of God and stagnant the love for yourself. It is human nature to want to take matters into your own hands and sort out issues within yourself. However, God did not design us to take on the cares of life because He knew it would eventually begin to weigh on our brains which in turn will affect other areas in our lives. Love drives out fear which is caused by various negative factors such as stress, anxiety, doubt, and unbelief. That is why Jesus commanded us in Matthew 22:37-38(AMP), “….You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect). This is the great (most important, principal) and first commandment.” At times, you may feel like you do not measure up to what society may call beautiful or successful, but know that God created you for specific purpose, plan, and destiny that only you can fulfill which sets you apart from everyone else. We are always on the mind and heart of God, according to Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.” God loves us so much that He already prearranged for us since the beginning of time to experience the good life which also includes wholeness of mind. The only way you can receive this peace is through reading, meditating, and applying His Word to your life. God’s

WE WILL NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH GOD LOVED US UNLESS WE UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH HE LOVED JESUS BUT YET GAVE HIM UP TO RESCUE US".

BISHOP HENRY R. WILLIAMS Word brings truth, light, and healing to any circumstances you are confronted with; however, you must be willing to allow His Word to lead, guide and direct your paths. Speaking from a personal perspective, if you are like me, being logical and realistic about situations can seem like the fair route to take toward the highway of being right. However, coming from that perspective all the time will be a conflict of interest when you need to trust and rely on God. The line between being logical, realistic, and pessimistic is very fine; therefore, Philippians 4:6-7(NLT) brings clarity to how we should conduct ourselves through the highs and the lows. “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” I know, I know, easier said than done, right. Wrong! In order to keep your mind steadfast on the Word of God, it takes discipline and selfcontrol, it takes practice, but most importantly, you must be willing. That is why Philippians 4:8-9 (NLT) takes it a step further by saying, “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me, everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.” Moreover, God not only wants us to meditate on His Word day and night, but He also wants us to hide His

Visit www.wordofoasis.org

Word into our hearts because our Heavenly Father knows that whatever is in the abundance of the heart the mouth will speak it. Whatever is in your heart and mind will line up with what you are speaking on a daily basis. Words do have power! It can set atmospheres in a room, break up relationships, discourage future endeavors, cause low self-esteem, and sadly, prevent the blessings that God have in stored for you. Your words can help or hurt you! That is why I love, honor, and respect the world’s greatest pastors, Bishop Henry and Co-Pastor Gwendolyn Williams, because they lead and direct Word of Oasis (WOO) according to the Word, and not only do we get the Word but we speak the Word. My dad would always say, “don’t just read the Bible, believe the Bible, and take it a step further, live the Bible.” Daily confessions are like weapons of mass destruction to counteract the lies that the enemy may plant in your head concerning your true identity in Christ. It is pivotal that you know who you are in Christ Jesus because the enemy uses your insecurities against you to make you fall prey to his tactics of destruction which is another form of bondage. That is why I love Jesus because He laid His life down so that we may have life and life more abundantly. According to 2 Corinthians 5:19-21 (AMP), “It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but cancelling them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the restoration to favor). So we are Christ’s ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We [as Christ’s personal representatives] beg you for His

sake to lay hold of the divine favor [now offered you] and be reconciled to God. For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].” As believers, we are the righteousness of God. Now say, I am the righteousness of God, I am the righteousness of God; I am the righteousness of God! This is a simple daily confession that can be utilized in any situation. Just believe it and receive it! Your daily confession coupled with the Word of God will help you not only think but know the love God has for you which will force you to start loving the real you and others the way God intended. Moreover, just as I stated earlier in the article, love is like a chain reaction. You will only love others the way that you love God and yourself. They all work hand and hand. You cannot say that you love God and yourself, if you do not love your neighbor. Therefore, Matthew 22:37-39 (AMP) states, “…. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect). This is the great (most important, principal) and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as [you do] yourself.” I love my mother’s motto, “no one can beat you at being you!”

NOW, START LOVING THE REAL YOU!!!!

Going Through The Process: Being Healed and Whole M any people look over their lives especially as they move into a new decade of life. That’s what I had been doing for a couple of months prior to celebrating my 50th birthday. I must admit that turning 50

in January was a wonderful blessing. Thinking back 10 years ago I was in the military and my family and I had just moved to Valdosta. Our lives were going well. My husband and I were happy in our marriage, we had just purchased a new home and our children were doing well. Then, life took a turn. I was diagnosed with leukemia in March 2004. I didn't even know what it was but I knew it was cancer and it was bad. In July 2004, I came down with pneumonia which put my life at an even greater risk. As my mother arrived from Connecticut in time to see me being transported to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida, a nurse told my mother it would be a miracle if I lived to see the next day. I was placed on life support and put in the ICU because I was not breathing on my own. The doctors did not know if I was going to live, but God knew my future. Once I got over the crisis of almost dying, I was told that I needed a bone marrow transplant to increase my rate of survival. At that time, they had done a worldwide search to see if there was a donor match for me. Not having siblings, an unrelated donor was my only option. However, They couldn’t locate an unrelated match for me. I started maintenance chemotherapy and was told if they could keep

the leukemia away for two-years, I had an 80 percent chance of surviving, but if it came back, it would be more aggressive and I would die. I heard what they had shared with me, but I didn’t accept it. I prayed, Isaiah 53:5, "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole. (Amplified Bible)." I was told in October 2004, there was a match for me to have a stem cell transplant. My stem cell transplant consisted of donor cells coming from a baby’s umbilical cord. I have to be honest; I was shocked and scared when the doctor told me this information. The doctor was throwing out so much information and it just didn’t seem real or register with me at the time. I passed all the tests to receive my transplant, and was scheduled to have my transplant in November 2004, but it was delayed. My dad passed away in the midst of what was going on. I was already going through so much and then to have my father pass away seemed to be too much, but I kept my mind and focus on the Word of God. I was getting ready to go down to have a procedure done that was required for my transplant. I was praying and asking God to be with me. I remembered hearing a voice that told me I was going to be fine, this was just a process. As I looked around, I thought someone was in the room with me talking. I realized it was God telling me that I was going to be fine. When I got back from the procedure, I began to praise God because I believed and received what He told me. This process was part of my healing and being made whole. I received my transplant on December 20, 2004. I will always remember my two nurses (Nurse Lois and Nurse Barbara). They prayed over those donor cells that my body would accept them and not reject them. Then they sang Stevie

Wonder’s version of “Happy Birthday to You” while those donor cells were flowing from the bag into my body. I had been through so much physically and mentally to get to that point, but God was faithful and like He had already told me, by His stripes I was already healed and made whole. I was going through the process to get to what God through His son Jesus Christ had already done for me and all mankind. Throughout my process God placed so many Christians in my path. Nurse Lois ministered to me one day while I was going through the preparation to have my transplant. I began to cry because I was in pain. Through her care and compassion she started to witness to me. We found out we were both Christians. Countless other medical personnel prayed for me and encouraged me. I can never forget my great spiritual parents, Bishop and Pastor Gwen Williams. They prayed for not only me, but my family during this process. They came to Shands Hospital to visit with me. They sacrificed time for me, and I am so thankful for the prayers and so much support along with my Word of Oasis family. We truly do have the world’s greatest pastors who give so much of themselves and never look for anything in return. I look back over my life and it makes me smile. I thank God for all that I have gone through to get to this point in my life. Yes, you read that right, I thanked God for all that I have gone through in my life. It was not easy, but I now realize it all has worked together for my good. I remembered telling my husband with God’s help, I was going to be healed from this leukemia, and declared I was going to live a long life. I was determined to do what Psalm 118:17 stated, "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord (KJV)".
