education
Victor Ohlsson is my name, Im a 29 yo urban designer, graduated with a master’s degree in Sustainable Urban Design from Lund University and a bachelor’s degree in Spatial Planning at the Blekinge Institute of Technology. Being an urban-entusiast, my interest in how people act in relation with the city consistently motivates me to seek new perspectives of the urban environment. I’m always aiming to improve my skills and look for new tools during work and enjoy taking a creative role in problem solving throughout the process. I’m always interested in new projects! On my free time I like to do some activity with friends, do sports and travel to a new city whenever I can!

reclaim integrate, revitalize and overcoming physical barriers
INTRODUCTION. This project studys how a brownfield, that was once used as a railway yard, can be reclaimed and become a integrated part of the city. By breaking physical barriers, connect to the surroundings and extend the public realm this can be an opportunity for cities to activate abandoned areas and recycle what was once an active place. CONCEPT. Focus during this study has been aiming at looking into the specific site and the local situation. The proposal extends the city centre into the site with mixed-use blocks that answers to existing structures that integrates with the surrounding and takes advantage of commercial structures. Improved connections are made into the area and helps breaking a physical barrier by prolonging pedestrian movement patterns. Further on follows the municipality’s goals to become a bigger, environment-friendly, less car-oriented city with interesting public spaces.

block implementation The typologies that are being implemented can be divided into four different types. On most part of the site mixed-use blocks are being used, some of them on what is today empty ground and some that togheter with existing buildings create blocks. Along the edges of the railway, high rise buildings are used, and then a few blocks that are a mix of the mixed-use block and the high rise building.

linear spaces creating a network
INTRODUCTION. Dujiangyan, a city with 650 000 inhabitats, is located close to the city of Chengdu (10 million inhabitants), Sichuan. The site is next to the old town of Dujiangyan. 2008 there was a major earthquake that destroyed large areas of the city. CONCEPT. By creating a network of linear public spaces, the site connects to the surrounding city, creates meeting points and invites you into the area. By enhancing the river that runs through the site, a green belt along the river is created that gives the area an increased connection and creates a green linear public space and guides you throughout the area. In the north-west corner of the site there’s a major street intersection, between the Old town and the site, that becomes an integrator for the area and a natural meeting point.

The first section is showing the different volumes that characterize the proposal, a mix between high rise buldings and mixed-use blocks. here also together with a public building that works as generator for different activities in the area. the Second section is an example of a typical car street between some of the proposed blocks.
The model shows how a canal can have different water levels for water management.

defining the urban making an entrance
INTRODUCTION. Ă„ngelholm train station is located just outside the city centre, where large areas are open and merge into each other that gives the site an unclear character with several undefined places. the kronoforest

central train station
CONCEPT. A dense environment by the train station and throughout the site with mixed-use buildings and more defined spaces, streets and walkways, a clearer city character is made and the area gives you clearer directions and more characterized and defined spaces. Take better advantage of the location of the station which makes the area act as a link between the city centre and the beach and the forest that are popular for outdoor activity.

connecting ystad to the ocean
INTRODUCTION. Ystad is surrounded with high quality agricultural soil in the north and can not expand that way, there for it is motivated to expand towards the sea. The harbor area between the city centre and the coastline will play an important role in the future progress and development of Ystad. CONCEPT. Integrate the city and the sea, make the site accessible and connect with public spaces and a green spine through the site that ties the west and east green areas of the city together. Heavy winds affects parts of the site, therefore some areas the layout-design is based on decreasing wind. Canals throughout the site helps with water management and together with different parks and public spaces, the harbour goes from grey to green. Providing access to the sea with a public realm that prioritize pedestrians and encourage diversity with mixed-use buildings, the site can generate social interaction.

cultural center different impressions
main square
INTRODUCTION. This project presents a proposal for a cultural center in Karlskrona. A building including performance hall, gallery, offices, cafĂŠ and an urban public room, and had to be around 800 square meter. CONCEPT. The narrow street along the plot prohibits you from seeing the front of the building exept from close by. The the site
concept takes its form from this fact. Creating a building that gives different impressions depending on your perspective, wheather you see it from further away on the street or standing closely in front of it. The building is to be located between two buildings, with only the street front facade visible from the street, therefor enhance a welcoming and inviting design on the street level, where the buildings function is highly visible, while the rest part of the building lies on top.
