About Brazil

From north to south, Brazil is a country of many wonders. Friendly and warm people, amazing weather, insanely beautiful landscapes and a vivid cultural life can’t even star to describe this country. 5th bigest economy and 8th largest country, Brazil is a country marked by diversity, with imigrants from all over the world taking part in our history and culture. The Brazilian culture is based on three main ethnic roots: indigenous, Portuguese and African. All this created a unique civilization, especially inclusive, something that it does not found in any other part in the world. Among of the main Brazilian features are hospitality, easy sociability and happiness. Be prepared to meet intense and hospitable people, see places as diverse as the deep rain forest and lively cities with tens of millions of habitants.

About rio

Known as “Wonderful City”, is one of the largest cities in Brazil, a vivid and vibrant urban, cultural and economical center. Known by it’s famous carnaval, Rio has a relaxed atmosphere wherever you go and the beauties of nature and city brought together. The inhabitants, who are known as cariocas, are known mainly for being fun and laid-back. Cariocas are usually polite with strangers and they are recognized for their receptiveness of foreign people. Two kisses on the cheeks is a normal greeting in informal situations. Rio de Janeiro is quite a cosmopolitan city, with a vivid urban life. It is home of many different religious beliefs and ethnic backgrounds and, in 2012, the city received the title of UNESCO World Heritage Site. Rio is a state of contrasts. In the same neighborhood you’ll see rich people living in an very expensive apartment in front of the beach while there are families that live in the same neighborhood that live with only one minimum wage (less than U$360).

why choose rio

Rio is way more than it’s beauties. The iconic city can garantee a great experience for any traveler, but it is way more for AIESECer. In this big cultural and economical center of South America, social inequality is a latent problem that many generation of govermental policies are not even beggining to solve. The big events – World Youth Day, World Cup, Olimpic Games – have brought the city even more to the world attention, exposing it’s good and not-sobeautiful sides. With all the movement and growth the city is living, now is the time to make the difference. A time when empowered youth find opportunities to be the change they want to see in the world and in their very own city.
