Why Entertainment for Mobile Operators?

1.  MNOs become “broadcasters*.” 5G will enable MNOs to scale their internet/TV/OTT offerings vs. cable and satellite – especially in countries where mobile is the first/only reliable infrastructure (fixed wireless access).

New capabilities will double worldwide annual “mobile media” revenues (video, music, gaming) in 10 years to $420B based on 10X faster and 10X quicker 5G networks. 3.  Supercharge digital advertising. 5G will accelerate the move from traditional display advertising toward social and media immersive experiences (e.g., in-game placements; visual formats in AR/VR environments). Scale, delivery and measurement are challenges for mobile advertising today which will be improved by 5G. 4.  New ways to Interact with media – New forms of media. 5G will unlock AR, VR and gaming apps and content enabling new channels to customers (e.g., via virtual items and characters, augmented contextual information). 5G will enable new applications that do not exist today such as 3D holographic displays, self-driving car entertainment and connected “haptic” suits bringing new senses to media touch and feel.
