The Los Angeles Unified School District The Arts Benefit Concert Series will become the signature annual fundraising event for the Arts Education Branch (AEB) to raise arts awareness and visibility, garner arts support from the broader community, and most importantly, generate revenue and resources for LAUSD’s arts programs who are most underserved as indicated on the Arts Equity Index. The 2016 Benefit Concert will be held March 24-26, and then annually at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood featuring top tier artists who are committed to giving back to the next generation of artists being developed in LAUSD, former LAUSD alumni who serve as important motivational role models, and selected current LAUSD students whose artistic skills will be showcased in this professional event. This year’s focus is “On Q!”, a celebration of the musical and artistic influence of Quincy Jones, who is also the namesake of one of our arts schools, Quincy Jones Elementary. Also embedded in this multi-day event is the Benefit Concert Master Class Forum, where working professionals (including those involved with the Benefit Concert) share career pathway options to hundreds of students from schools who may not have had the opportunity to be exposed to such transformative presentations and conversations. Through this Benefit Concert, the AEB will gain national and international recognition for LAUSD, raise necessary funding, and forge a closer partnerships with companies and individuals committed to the arts, young people and arts education.
