Overview: The Dakar Foundation Roots The DAKAR Foundation for the Performing Arts is a high tech, high touch arts and media community technology center offering programs in digital audio and video production, graphic design, and multimedia. At-risk youth in danger of dropping out can gain a renewed passion for academic and vocational studies while gaining new media skills and experience to qualify for entry-level entertainment industry jobs. Our organization forges broad efforts in Urban Marketing, Advertising, Event Planning, Content Delivery and Business Development Solutions. We champion to provide foundations for the performing arts, diversity marketing and interactive programs. Our programs span both public and private sectors.

Our Objective: Collapsing The Barriers To Entry In Digital Media Workforce

To inspire, empower, and propel emerging young black professionals towards key digital career paths by building lighthouses to industry and mentors who will help them change the world for the better.

FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Kevin Clark Kevin Clark has been a visionary and a content aggregator for more than a decade. His career spans across a broad landscape that has focused on broadcast media, content delivery, event and exhibit production. His insight and vision has always been focused on diversity marketing and feeding what is now being recognized as holy grail market share. Kevin has been and continues to fuel advertising and marketing obvious value programs to African American, Latino and Asian American consumers. Kevin is an icon and a beacon for relevant diversity rich content delivery and in this day and age, every business must have a strategic plan that speaks to the audiences consuming his content.

Lael Alexander Lael A. Alexander is driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for technology and electronics. He started his first venture while at the University of New Orleans where he pursued his degree in Computer Science and Industrial Design, and then went on to retool HR Analytics while serving in the United States Navy. Alexander continued to press his thumb in diverse industries, transferring his skills from the Energy industry to Oil & Gas Field Services and later into Telecom. For the aforementioned venture, Alexander was awarded the Telecom Industry Technology Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2018 following a list of industry awards that gave global recognition to his craft including the 2014 CES Innovation and Engineering Award for his contribution to the mobile industry. He founded his current company, Noitavonne Inc., in 2011 to be an award winning global manufacturer of high-quality, mobile hand-held devices and wireless solutions. Alexander has lead Noitavonne through tremendous high growth and product development and an ever-growing network of representatives across the globe to distribute its products. The company has established a manufacturing presence in China with rigid quality control standards and has offices in the USA, Dubai, Hong Kong, China (Shenzhen) and Trinidad.

General Arnold Gordon-Bray Gordon-Bray’s military education includes the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, the Combined Arms Services and Staff College the, the Naval War College, and numerous other military schools. Gordon-Bray became chief of the training division at Joint Special Operations command at Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1990. In 1996, he was named commander of the 1st Battalion of the 508th Airborne Combat Team in Vicenza, Italy. In 1999, he graduated from the Air War College in Montgomery, Alabama with his M.A. degree in military strategic studies; and, in 2001, Gordon-Bray graduated with his M.A. degree in operations management and supervision from the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. He then assumed command of the 2nd Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division, known as the “Falcon Brigade.” He led the Falcon Brigade during the early months of the Iraq War in 2003, and then served a second tour of duty in Iraq from 2006 to 2007 as the principal advisor to the Iraqi Ground Force Commander. During 2007, Gordon-Bray became deputy commanding general of the United States Army Cadet Command in Fort Monroe, Virginia. In 2011, Gordon-Bray became deputy director of operations for the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM). He then retired in November of 2012 and then started his own consulting firm, ANGB Consulting, in Fayetteville, North Carolina in January of 2013.

A Speaker’s Bureau 01 Our speakers bureau will deploy representatives from a range of disciplines and industries. Through Ted Talk’s platform and amplifying with two-way broadcast to student network classrooms. We’ll study analytics and results such as: our diverse companies really more innovative? In all of Speakers formatted by Ted Talk guidelines we’ll select speakers will focus on their experiences that showcase how to build a better, more robust company through data and the inclusion of fresher, more creative ideas by treating diversity as a competitive advantage.


Entertainment Career Partnerships 02 We center everything around the people we want to connect with.... Parents, Teachers, Educational Advocates Everything we do, is about a common cause...Student Activism What we stand for is clearly defined externally through....Student User Generated Social Media Channels We leverage the voice of Dakar/Valence Partnership in a meaningful way...Through Existing Subscribers and The Valence Community Los Angeles County K-16 becomes useful, and capitalized... When it connects with All Citizens in the region “Students” voice becomes Dakar/Valence Voice Their needs become Dakar/Valence’s solutions


Capitol Hill / Defense Innovation Engagements 03 The DoD host "Taking the Pentagon to the People" programs to discuss critical White House initiatives and DoD’s continued support of Presidential Executive Order 13532 "…to advance the development of the Nation’s full potential and to advance equal opportunity in higher education." DoD will focus on the participation by HBCU/MSIs in federally-sponsored programs; provide advice to the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness on how to increase the DoD’s role in strengthening HBCUs, with particular emphasis on enhancing institutional infrastructure and facilitating planning, development, and the use of new technologies to ensure the goal of long-term viability and enhancement of these institutions as a major resource for the DoD mission.


Talent Search Development 04 Dakar Foundation is an entertainment-tech art 501(c)(3) has partnered with Gig Shark LLC to create a sustainable smart pipeline system for developing and placing more inner-city talent into the creative-tech economy in Los Angeles County. The combined- mission for Dakar and GIG Shark is to provide opportunities to those in the under-resourced LAUSD Arts Entertainment Branch, The Regional Los Angeles Community College District, and California State University Entertainment Alliance. Within our partnerships, we are developing a tech-entertainment academy which will keep students engaged in their pursuit for higher education while simultaneously providing them the precise requirements for, placements in internships and in the future preapprenticeship to workforce placement with our Corporate partners: AT&T, Apple, Lionsgate and Sony.


L.A. Strategic Access, Presence & Partnerships 05 Dakar established a partnership with Mobil World Congress (MWC) that will enable us to design and co-locate inside of MWC LA 2020. Our focus will be in awareness, then engagement, and finally presentation, year round leading up the the 3-day experience in the LA Convention Center ACM SIGGRAPH showcases how inclusion, diversity, equity, and access encourage leadership to make us a vibrant, innovative, collaborative, and strong organization. The impact of diversity adds significant value to our community, encouraging us to make better decisions, develop better algorithms, and engage with art, media and design. We’ll send a delegation to Washington DC in August 2020 to fuse our initiatives .


Outcomes The goal is to fuse our initiatives: Gig Shark, The Hive, Brown Bag TV to create seamless smart-pipeline to supply companies with the demand for predators in New Media, Leadership Training, and Digital and Financial Literacy.

Next Steps

1 DIGITAL PATHWAY INITIATIVE We've created a Venn diagram mapping a coalition of the willing comprised of government agencies, educational institutions, and CBO’s who agree on a data set of universal problems in diversity metrics.

These bodies of work will distinguish candidates with evidence to connect with their academic, certifications and additional courseware to create a compelling case to place them in the Valence Community Network
