The Program
Brown Bag TV overview • An experience-based training course for diverse, underserved students. • Guided by a primary mentors (with participation of guest mentors). • In which the students produce a weekly streaming show & digital elements. • And gain experience, skills, portfolio and contacts / opportunities to enter digital/media industries workforce. • Supported by partners with an interest in community service, education opportunities, media and digital training, career support, workforce preparation. • Partners receive desired outputs valuable to their needs.
Brown Bag TV detail – Detail • Targeted Students: 18 – 35; underserved, diverse, non-radio listeners, social networks mavens. • Experience-based learning • 1-year program, 4 weeks of Spring Semester 2020 – Summer Bridge- Fall Semester 2020 • Creating a weekly streaming magazine and associated digital elements • Students take on all roles: writers, producers, director, camera, editing, web design and development, interviewing each potential MC sponsor to provide a brief extract of what they would like to provide in short-to-long form presentations. • Students will ultimately select course topics: digital distribution, careers in media • Guided by dedicated mentors, informed by guest mentors • Resulting in workforce preparedness: experience, portfolio, skills certification, and networked employment opportunities

The Pilot

Roots The DAKAR Foundation for the Performing Arts is a digitally-oriented arts and media community offering programs in digital media production and graphic design. Dakar is committed to re-engaging atrisk youth in danger of dropping, to give them a renewed passion for academic and vocational studies through new media skills and experience to help them qualify for entry-level entertainment and digital industry jobs. Dakar champions the performing arts, diversity marketing and interactive programs, with efforts that span the public and private sectors, combining efforts in urban marketing, advertising, event planning, content development & delivery, and business development.
