A great adventure begins!
Feya Marc Lataste Strange creatures live in a lush timeless forest: a hairy magician, a little ghost who is fond of food, and a mushroom-hunting fox. No human beings disturb this funny, zany world because they have all disappeared.
Feya is a comic book which borrows its form from mangas and whose long story extends through two volumes. Through incredible adventures, the story confronts cyber technology with the supernatural aspects of a fairytale forest, and raises questions about ecology and the future of humanity dangling between Nature and Technology.
About the author: Self-taught, Marc Lataste took his first steps by working for the press and becoming a website designer. Nourished by mangas, cartoons, and video games, he thinks up magical worlds designed for young readers but enjoyable by everyone. Like a Shiver Aniss El Hamouri Renata is an unhappy young woman. For some time now, she has been feeling strange shivers that also turn to be a kind of power: they are premonitions of threats. Despite this gift, she hasn’t been able to keep her computer from being stolen. One evening, she comes across the thieves, but they won’t give back her precious computer. A vicious game involving blackmail and winning over another person’s trust begins—an adventure between outcasts who, each in his own way, is trying to find his or her place in society. Like a Shiver offers a long, violent tour through the life of a young, suffering, adult woman. The grim yet poetic narrative is accompanied by edgy, contemporary kinds of drawing. The author’s work revolves around metamorphosis: how can one change despite illness and the violence of the world, how can one blossom in a hostile environment and ultimately find oneself? About the author: Born in Morocco in 1989, Aniss El Hamouri is both Moroccan and Belgian. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in comic books at the École Supérieure des Arts SaintLuc in Liège, Belgium, then a master’s degree in illustration at the Royal Fine Arts Academy in Liège. He currently lives in Brussels and devotes himself to writing and illustrating comic books.
Vide Cocagne is an association founded in 2003 by Thierry Bedouet and Fabien Grolleau. They first created two fanzines: Quartier, then Soudain! 2010 marked a turning point for the association. It organized its first Fumetti Comic Book Festival and launched its first series of comic books. Ever since then, the editorial activity has revolved around various series : Alimentation Générale (“General Food Store” — Humor), Soudain (“Suddenly” — contemporary chronicles), the recent Grand Souk (“Big Souk” — children’s books), as well as the publication of several volumes that do not belong to a specific series. The editorial line of Vide Cocagne is meant to be very open, with a strong emphasis on narrative, an often humoristic spirit, and, sometimes, a socially committed dimension. In parallel, the association has developed several eventrelated activities: the festival, workshops, and meetthe-author events. These profuse activities resulted in the creation of Fumetti House, which is devoted to comic books and opened its doors in September 2016 in Nantes ! CONTACT US edition@videcocagne.fr
