The Karunashraya Hospice Gardens are typical example of Restorative Gardens designed to provide comfort, aesthetics and a pleasant microclimate. Ambiguities are avoided and flow of water is abundantly used for ambient noise, evaporative cooling and visual relief. The nascent nursery is tucked at the back to provide only workable and not visual access. This live case study helped in determining the exact needs of a healing and integrated landscape. It is here that the manager pointed out the challenge of memorials and how it might disturb the structured design.

5 DERIVATION OF MAJOR ELEMENTS AND DESIGN PRINCIPLES
From the Above Case Studies, an attempt has been made to understand the significant elements and design principles surrounding the typology of a healing garden acting as a Memorial.
5.1 Design Elements
The following elements may be namely identified-
1. A distinct entrance or gateway- Even if symbolic or minimal, a distinct entrance has a psychological impact. existing iconic feature such as tree or Rock may be used or an interesting artwork may be created for the same.
