As time becomes non-linear and the past takes on new significance, the phrases ‘evolution’ and ‘future’ are inferred in different ways. Just like a fresh interpretation of a masterpiece, the incongruous and unlikely collaboration of the new and the old bring us back to a subtle era of romance and sumptuousness. The timelines are up for a major revamp as we see fresh pairings of hand crafted with digital technology, as galleries become “experiences”, and archiving turns into an artistic expression. As romance and opulence fills the air with a nostalgic appeal, TAW’s first addition is all geared up to show you the Past with a Modern twist.

hide side

Hide that cover our skin is the trend. its surface , colours , and forms are making us realise the statement of beauty. From the elaborate styling seen on the ramps to our day to day cat eye its catching us everywhere. Realisation of the realism in these trends is the hyde side of it.Everything is extracted from our subconscious mind. And in that state all we do is get inspired . And inspiration is practical when its comfortable.Looking around it can be a valid notion that we have become more comfortable in the hide .

Ever thought what makes us wanna look like them. The very freedom with which they soar high or because of the courage they hold to stride free in the woods. The eyes made of perfect brush strokes or the flamboyant colors that define their existence. What if the whole reason to look like them is a dire urge to create our own existence something that defines us beyond a human form. A form that is not afraid to survive in the concrete jungle or the one who can sore to the highest skyscrapers. On one side they are a subordinate category of living beings with no speech importance, hardly making a difference to the days that we live. The very obvious cat eye is perfection for any girl. Is the slant of that mammal’s eye so gorgeous that the most superior form living and breathing on this planet want to adapt it to look beautiful. The features that we own when enhanced with makeup have to be animalistic to be perfect. With all the trends that are swiping in, the human brain is finding it more appropriate to fit in features and colors of the vast fauna. Who would have ever imagined a specie would paint to look like another its sociological change which is no so big if we just see the surface of it. But deep within its a strike to of a human conscious giving up on its self and putting a brave front by doing that perfect cat eye and a face contouring as chiseled as of the deer . Its rather great to see how people on a every day to day life are adapting the change in makeup techniques in the best possible way. From the contouring tutorials to the workshops held to enhance the skills of a layman are on a really fast track. It’s no more a pale face scenario the cuts and depth are the new thing. The ombre shades are fading away to sediment as one bright color over the eyelid. Yes a patch of one bright color to flaunt is the trending fashion. This trend looks most inspired by the soft pop which is the Fun loving and passionate themes convey intellectually weight in another social atmosphere. Frilly deco can be subversive, and instinct impacts outline that grasps ‘delicate force’ and an imaginative blend of the faculties. This is driven by a more thorough way to deal with personality and the present day re-branding of woman’s rights, making for a comprehensive world view no more compelled by sex, sexuality or ethnicity.

Its balance in all sense just like a butterfly when u see is beautiful with all the abstract crazy shimmering patterns that it owns it glides in front of us and all we can wonder is the serene beauty. If you closely observe its balanced the colors might speak their own value . The trend that are passing on this 2016 season promise to be appropriate balance of loudest of colors and most outstanding metallic shades of gold silver and bronze, accompanied with the clearly very dramatic eyelashes that give the perfect almond shape to eye. The trends depict a clear derivation from the vivid color from the wildlife. It’s the age to be wild in the most outstanding methods. To be able to wear a bold deep blue block over the eyelid and have rest of the face most nude. and still be in trend. The chiseled face having an exceeding limit of shimmer to highlight the cheekbones is the now thing. The year where the metallic is not too much it’s just the right way. having a face that outshines the basic in 2016 spring summer is about. Whereas while the going through the runway shows of New York and Milan each face had a defined touch of colors and edge. Digital fashion is another turn up this season the brands are taking up makeup looks that give a digital edge when clicked. Definite patterns of colors and various such elements are another derivation from the texture of the wild. From snakeskin imprint on the face to the elaborate feather eyelashes .The gloss and the shine is adding another level of dimension to the new face of 2016. the year of mat passed away in all glory now is the time to imbibe the shining glossy looks which include the return of the metallics. Going through the runway looks somethings that are vividly visible are the gloss hint that given using metallics and lustrous product range. The race to perfection is all from the inspiration around the human race and from something that we haven’t made. From The nature the fluttering lustrous green leaf to the shining surfaces of a bird feather it’s all inspired . The surface of everything around us is inspiring to be comfortable in our own skin. 2016 brings us great opportunities to be one of them to be in trend and to be what makes us the most in trend.

Pixel stroke Retouching and digital imaging aren’t just art forms of manipulation, it’s a way of creative expression. It meets in the mid way of reality merging into the surrealism. We see different aspects of digital transformations everywhere around us, from the designs of the simplest things molded and transformed into the extra ordinary through the digital medium gives a new edge to digital expression. The most basic transformations come with images. Images are simple stills that portray a story in a single notion. The further manipulation of the image brings dimensions and depth to that basic image. Digital retouching and imaging bridged the gap of creating the extraordinary mystical world from the existence a viable prospect. It gave artist a medium that made things faster and a little easier. Advertising has been a performance stage for digital manupilation. This art has found its medium amidst the best source of digital and visual story telling. We all have seen and understood the power of visual advertising and what digital manipulations can help form. Christophe Gilbert, a Belgian photographer from Bruxelles. He perceives an eye for great details because he believes that the details tell the stories. His images aren’t pieces that he puts to together to formulate the idea in his head, it’s the process of experimentation and reinventing the same idea and taking it forward that counts. This isn’t about creating a good picture but about visually enhancing a basic concept into its layers of perfection. Clicking a picture is one thing but to reinvent it from that is where manipulation works its magic. Matt Wisniewski is an American artist who has created numerous digital collages by blending fashion and nature photographers together. He aims at creating surrealistic images. He blends his images with prints and images of nature in such ways that they part surrealistic fashion couture. His

portraits stylize a woman’s face in the most intriguing manners. In reality the basic simple portraits are nothing but flat images that he digitals transforms and creates a new dimension to that image. Some images can give you the illusion of 3-D makeup. In the same way a lot of this body shots are merged to look like enhanced and advanced clothing. These images distort reality and they provide expansion of the human senses. What is actually perceived is just a illusion but which can be transformed into reality with the right approach. Digital artists provide that path from the futuristic and unimaginable to the approachable and possible. It increases the horizon of creativity and imagination. Fashion is one the aspects that utilities digital retouching and imaging in its best forms. Its an art form which gives fashion a larger overview.

Anothony Frazier, calls himself the imaginative creator. He has worked in digital manipulation with retouching for the past ten years. He has worked on several projects that mix real objects in superficial surroundings. But the astonishing part lies where these surroundings look as if plucked out from real situations. TAW sat down with Anothony to explore the world of digital retouching and imaging through the eyes of an artist.

Q. Your work seems inspired with couture fashion with a very mythical approach. How do you reflect upon it.

Amazing eye to draw that from my work. I am a huge fan of elegance but still giving that dreamy and mythical approach. I love styles that evoke the most emotion and that will provide the viewer with their own stories sometimes just by viewing the image.

it’s much easier thanks to stock photos, to be able to grab different scenes and people from areas you’d normally wouldn’t have access to.

Q.Digital transformation creates a whole new dimension. What are the techniques that you commonly use.

your work.

I think the technique I use the most is masking via Photoshop. With composites you need to blend and erase and add, and I feel I use that technique more than any in the digital retouching area.

‘I think it has revamped and made it a bit easier bringing the photos to life. ’

Q.Do you have some artists who inspired you to move forward in

Q. How do you think that digital retouching and imaging has affected

I naturally became interested in the graphic element of design well before I got into photography. So once I starting dabbling into photography the retouching came a lot easier since I was already into graphics. I love how retouching gives me unlimited control over how the mood of my photos, yet I try not to over do it if it’s a regular fashion or portrait shoot, but when it comes to the creative side it gives me the opportunity to create anything and everything.

Q.Do you think it helps create stories that would rather be difficult to

actually create them in reality. It definitely does help create a story, for instance it would take a lot of work to create a fairy scene without the use of digital manipulation. It’s possible, but it would be difficult, but at the same time, to add a bit of realism to the photo for a scene like that it does take a lot of work in the editing stages to make it appear the subject has wings or is flying.

digital retouching in your photography Michael O is one of my favorite digital retouchers. His pieces are a work of art, and I am constantly pushing myself to learn and know what he knows.

Q.Christophe Gilbert, the extremely famous photographer and digital retoucher who has established himself with artworks that have changed the face of advertising with digital manipulation works. Would you like to comment something on his work. I am a huge fan of his work. Very clean and very well composited as well. I love his photo of the elephant.

Q.What edge does Digital transformation give

It gives the opportunity to create anything that you possibly imagine, and to make it almost feel believable.

Q.Talk about one project that made things easier for you with digital retouching and imaging.

I think one of the main projects I work on would be double exposure. You can create double exposure in camera which is still a talent in itself, but digital retouching gives me to turn double exposure more into a composite and art piece in my opinion. And

Spellbound Contours “I can flaunt it. It’s mine, and I can do with it as I please.”

At the source of ’once upon a time’ lies a woman’s eternal dream-a beautiful, firm and harmoniously proportioned body. A dream that has inspired painting, sculpture, and literature.Stuck somewhere between morals and trend? Society and wishes? Comfort and limits?

becomes judgemental with just a twist in the background. This is a vicious debate women have been fighting for ages. The end result makes one question the question. On one side its women who should control their cuts and on the other society should not judge. Both are wrong and both are right.

Its difficult to give an absolute answer to this relative question. No amount would seem enough for a photo shoot or a runway. While any, on a wedding day or a grocery store might be too much. The idea is to be comfortable while showing it and not be suggestive or provocative. Rather than looking at how much is acceptable limit. Women should define how much they are comfortable with and how much one can pull off with ease and sophistication. There would always be some people who would like to set limits, and there would be some who would be willing to push the limits. The question here raises more complex and socially differentiated issues. Bearing the fact that over-time and after continuous negotiations of meanings around ‘family’, ‘female sexuality’ and ‘morality’ we still have miles to go for the diminishing of that fine line between slutty and classy.Fashionably, it has been ever changing, increasing and decreasing in rotational basis. However, it depends on the situation. In fashion model industry showing cleavage is perfectly acceptable. The same goes for high society parties and weddings where every other woman must have dressed the same way. A Versace plunge on a red carpet makes you look chic, whereas the same in an ally would make you a stripper. The same set of eyes

If we date back to history of eras, women wore plunge necklines all the time, be it the Edwardian era or the pin up girls. Now there is a fine line in those eras. Women from high societies moved nowhere out of their houses and even if they did, it was with family or their husbands. Whereas women who moved out to perform at clubs and bars were considered less ethical and morally unstable. The point here was that it all depended on the time of the day as well as the area one walked in. The same happens currently, area and time

39

40

“The trouble with censors is that they worry if a girl has cleavage, They ought to worry if she hasn’t any” Marilyn Monroe

.One cant lay emphasis on either of the points and jump to a conclusion. Only a revolution can change the mind-set of all and sundry once and for all. For that, women need to join forces around the world and protest in a dignified manner instead of organising slut walks with a handful of them. Women from all societies should come together and put an end to this on going prejudice. Speaking of work places, women young and old have broken free from the masculine-styled suits with padded shoulders that asserted equality. Now, deep-cut scoop and V-neck tops are finding their places in the workingwoman’s closet.I think we still have miles to go where a middle class woman showing her cleavage (even slight) will not be a big deal. To say it depends from country to country would be wrong since the same scenario resides everywhere. Urban areas remain broadminded whereas the rural areas have a very narrow minded approach towards the

41

concept of cleavage. This is mainly because of many reasons like, cultural barrier since major percentage are still traditional. Mentality of mass population, the mind set of not only men but women too. They have a tendency of personal commenting and judgement. Another reason is that women blindly follow the page 3 and red carpet culture in areas where orthodox intelligence still lingers in the roots of every grandma’s nerves, realising little that celebrities are under a cocoon of security at all times even if they stroll on a street. Whereas, the commoners have to strike a balance between two societies with different perspectives and lesser security. This proves that we are stuck somewhere in between.

AMIDST THE GREY

Once in a blue moon, a book is published that takes the entire world by storm, irrespective for what target audience it was initially aimed for...

42

..J.K Rowling’s “Harry Potter” relished this sections. From bared to you (a five book sort of sensation.as did “Hunger Games” by SuzzanCollins. for most the part, its very clear what gets people around the globe talking about such books, innovative storyline, well thought out characters, good quality writing and so on. However the same can’t be said about the most recent fictional sensation, E.L James’s Fifty Shades of Grey and many more fan fictions written on the same story lines. To be fair, it has received it’s part of media attention by being featured in shows like Ellen and Saturday Night Live. It has also congealed its place in pop culture, through the recent motion picture.

Christan Grey happens to be the novels central male character; he was a popular heartthrob even before the movie came out, despite the fact that the women hadn’t seen his face outside their imaginations. He happens to be rich, successful, handsome as hell and behind that lovely exterior he is just one “fucked up” person and yet he is the hottest fictional character since Edward Cullen. And it’s not just Twilight and Fifty Shades. These types of brooding jerks run rampant in today’s bestselling fictional

series) to Gabriel’s Inferno (Three book series). It’s a recurrent theme in books and movies. They also happens to be stalkers, for example Christian stalks the main lead, Ana right from the beginning , tracks her phone calls, buys her incredibly expensive gifts that she makes clear that she dint require, he overwhelms her with information about a lifestyle like BDSM she knows nothing about. In short manipulates her into a complete power exchange relationship- making him the dominant not just in bed but in the rest of her life. The super hot, mysterious, brooding, controlling man is the new fantasy of many. Nevertheless, the book generated a lot of debate, with a trending #boycott50shades on twitter and numerous hate filled blogs it’s important to know can one be feminist and like a book along abusive line of thought. While the supporting side stays with their drooling enthusiasm for Fifty Shades say that, sexual liberation means that women today have the freedom of speech and freedom to decide what to watch. Women are becoming more open about their sexual relationships. But Ana was an adult who

43

could have opted out of the relationship in its early stages. There argument point remains that if you have a problem with BDSM or mild abuse within a relationship, the answer is simple don’t read it! Numerous novelists have also hopped on the “50 Shades of Gray” genre of book’s short-lived trend, communicating their own particular perspectives, which tend to come down to a couple of diverse schools of thought. Some think that an erotica like “50 Shades of Gray” is a complete waste of time, as well as have the audacity to say they can degrade women. Others hop on the way that any lady who appreciates perusing BDSM stories plainly has “assault dreams and fantasies,” and that this whole sort of writing can be conceivably harming to ladies. Evaluating the nature of the quality of writing set aside, the issue that disappoints me the most in the greater part of this “50 Shades of Gray” hubub is how ladies are discussed in connection to perusing for sexual delight. It’s either looked upon as cutesy, in a “mom porn” kind of way, or else it’s something to be embarrassed about and covered up amongst alternate books in your Kindle.

44

So which part of the story do we think is right? Are such books against feministic principles and the women who hate it are right or is an outlook for women to explore their sexuality, in a manner that hasn’t been done before? I vote in favor of not one or the other. I say that while “50 Shades of Gray” wouldn’t have been my first (or hell, even 50th) decision for the book that gets every one of us discussing this kind of writing, here we are. In this way, we should discuss it like genuine grown-ups, and not treat it like the sideshow exhibition that it’s ended up. In the event that these books were showcased toward men, would we be seeing the same kind of equivalent amounts of mocking and belittling responses? Would the media dare coin the expression “daddy porn?” obviously not. Rather than ceasing with a standard book that has

permitted a few ladies the space to, at last discuss their sexual dreams and inclinations, how about we look past this one book to the bigger picture: The way that ladies are sexual creatures, and now and again they appreciate perusing sensual writing that occasionally dives into the unusual. In a society that basically takes into account men’s goals, it’s amazing, however not astounding, when individuals get ready to fight the minute a lady communicates some kind of longing desires. How about we move past the gendered way of disgrace and shame, where terms like “mom porn” exist, and treat it like the truth that it is. Without a doubt, “50 Shades of Gray” may have opened the way to discuss this, however ladies deserve more than sarcastic smiles and belittling remarks while examining sound female sexuality due to a book that

began off as “Twilight” fan fiction. While we can’t get back to better days and have another book or renewed series the standard exchange that demonstrates the ubiquity of erotica and female sexuality, maybe we can utilize this chance to start to change the discourse of what ladies like or need. We should quit regarding it as a sham, or fluke, or forbidden paradise, a grimy secret. How about we transform the discussion into a productive yet sensible one, where we’re not judging, snickering at or disgracing others for their inclinations, and rather, how about we approach the theme of female sexuality head on, similar to it should be talked about - with deference, respect, and a couple of less bits of knowledge from Ana’s “ inner goddess.”

Why should girls go on a diet and feed on salads and green vegetables while all the boys of the world continue to grow stout each day that passes. Teenage girls are using pictures, videos and quotes to battle dieting pressure.

56

In this generation, girls don’t resent cooking, rather they enjoy cooking as much as they are delighted to dress up and go on food dates with their friends to enjoy a gala time. There are no more movie nights without two large tubs of popcorn and nachos. It feels comforting to finally see the world soaring towards their utopian land. Food is becoming the new best friend of girls. The days of fast fashion include cargos and cardigans which have food made on them. This promotes their existence in the mob of foodies. For example- famous singer and the X-Factor star judge, Rita Ora was spotted wearing a dress with mouthwatering pictures of cheese and nachos printed on it. Simultaneously, Lady Gaga was seen wearing a dress with salamis and meat strips printed on an uneven short dress. To break all records we had Katy Perry setting the super bowl stage on fire, by creating a fancy dress style attire where all her dancers and she herself were disguised as delicious snacks. That particular performance is one that witnesses would never even think of forgetting. The world needs upfront and candid people who know how to hold their ground at all points of time. The positive change in this rebellion is that everyone is now changing their mindsets and accepting girls of all shapes and sizes. And why not? Don’t fat girls have the right to live and enjoy their life? Its high time that girls don’t get pestered to join workout sessions in order to fit into a slim-fit dress to go for some fancy party. A real man will see a girl’s character and not her structure.

Towards the end of our lives, the only thing that will hold meaning will be the way we enjoyed every moment of our life and not the body fitted dresses that we wore after such sweaty hardships. Girls should not look back at their past and think “I should have eaten that.” There should be a life with no regrets. Nowadays famous quotes are shared worldwide, like- “make pasta. Not war.” Which is precisely true. The world of apprehensions has been completely demolished from our society as now, girls don’t stop themselves from eating just because of one insignificant gain of kilograms. Just like we have the various rights of freedom, the new movement proposes that every human should have the RIGHT TO EAT! They say ‘anything can happen over coffee’. Well then ‘anything can happen over a good bowl of pasta too’. The conclusion simply implies that girls should not feel ashamed in asking for extra cheese or a double coating of chocolate on their pastries. This rebellion should go on till the time every single soul on this earth runs out of chocolate. it’s time to step out of the stereotypes.

LOVE, EAT, LIVE!

Beyond the Canvas ‘ Fine art is that in which the hand. The head, and the heart of a man go together.’ John Ruskin Art involves what our senses perceive and our mind and heart in sync produce the output. Fine art merely acts a medium through which we formulate stories in the visual aesthetics. Fine art becomes a form of taste we hold to perceive art in its various dimensions. It requires the finesse and thought process to produce a world out of the simplest and most of structures that sustain life itself. Everything this mind formulates comes from something that this world creates, but what our mind produces, is a travel farther away from this world; Simply a new dimension. Art is a way, a journey you take to initiate something that needs to be created, given structure to because it still doesn’t exist. You hold the power of giving birth to a new seed of thought. It’s the most basic thought of story telling but with art and not words. It requires a depth in the vision that drives the creation. Understanding fine art is a not a play with words but perception. It’s the understanding that a person acquires to widen their horizons. Its spread across the sevens seas and the cultural diversity we live in. It’s there where we chose to look. The thing that differs is where and how it is portrayed. Fashion is one of its strongest portrayers. It implements art in its material form and gives the viewer an eye full of imagination coming to life. Bill Gibb, Alexander Mcqueen, Izzy Miyake, and various designers have been a part of this merge. They have created great pieces of art in fashion. Artists like Gustav Klimt have been a source of inspiration for photographers and fashion designers to recreate the magic of art in their works.

Many artists have influenced and inspired designers to create whole collections on a single artwork. When we review designers like Alexander Mcqueen’s work we see great art pieces of fashion. All from his pieces to even his fashion shows. In spring 1999 he placed his model Shanon Harlow as a human canvas. She stood in the center of a revolving platform and her dress was spraypainted. It was art with drama. Most of his shows were highly inspired in fall 2003 he did a collection inspired by a nomad’s desolate journey into the tundra. To provide a real feel to his pieces he made the models stand inside a high wind blowing tunnel. They wore the hand painted silk and chiffon fabric that stretched over 20 feet. We have even seen elaborate enticing headgears where he has presented in his collections like the spring-summer 2008 where he collaborated with Phillip Treacy and made headgears with metal visors and butterfly swarms. The butterfly swarms are so magnificently and alluringly set, you can feel as if butterflies have come alive and are buzzing on the headgear together. Alexander Mcqueen believed in creating the imaginary fantastical world into substance, his pieces were fine art because of the depth of story each piece held. The famous armadillo shoe which he created for his ‘Plato’s Atlantis’ collection comes from the mind mystical outerspace aliens, mythological sea creatures. He wanted to make them look like alien ballerinas. The story his pieces narrated were extraordinary. His detailing and narration through his art didn’t stop at his garments and or

61

accessories, the make up on his models was so detailed. The dark and mysterious ways of abstracting the face. His canvas was beyond the paper, it was in his clothes and the design they exhibited. Izzy Miyake, the sentational and iconic Japanese designer has an unwavering approach to his creations. He believes that the freedom to think and create is what holds a sensational design together. His garments narrate a very clean and smart story. His pieces are those pieces of art that define a new era and a new horizon of design. There are no preexisting rules or a system that defines the spread of a concepts birth but rather the in-depth research and the journey that leads on to the final product. Izzy Miyake uses the simplest of elements that form the most exotic and complex garmets. His garments aren’t just fabric wrapped around the body but actually are structures. His garments arise from simple concepts of origami and pleats and he has wonderfully grown on those. His 2015 autumn winter was the magic drawn from the kaleidoscope. The kaleidoscope creating it’s aura on the coats and with an exquisite vibrancy that brightens the depths of your senses. Strong color blocking is a straight feature with all of his collections, he plays around with simple lines that are surrealistically placed to create structural illusions on the garments. He plays with the small details of the placement and flow of the thread work and color blocking to provide an anatomy to the garment.

His work doesn’t stop till his garments, when you cross by the BAO BAO stores you are drawn in by the graphically enhanced walls that are a part of his simple concept of altering the simple shapes to form bags and pouches. In this line he has cleverly used shapes that accommodates and transforms itself to create dynamic and dramatic new shape. The flexibility in the functionality is an innovation of intelligence. Izzy miyake’s work is intelligent art that goes through the layers of deception. The finesse and intricate work that builds up the boldness of most of his collection lies in the settings. Izzy Miyake or Alexander Mcqueen have changed the face and meaning of fashion. There is a depth in each of their details whether it’s the make up on the model, the garments, accessories or shoes. They have created concepts that are larger than a simple piece of substance. Art will be a constant sense of inspiration for it’s the beginning of fashion itself. pieces of dynamic We walk across fashion that originate to form a world. Givenchy in its recent edition of fall winter 2015 created face embellishments for their looks. They glinted up the face with heavy art deco. Riccardo’s collection is an inspiration from the dark and poetic spirit of the Victorian juxtaposed against the aesthetics of the South American girls known for their aggressive aesthetics. He has beautifully translated this into sensual and dangerous silhouettes where jewels have invaded the face to underline an intense beauty. This addition of the face embellishments gives a depth to the mystery and angst of the collection. Fine art in fashion is everywhere and in various forms. It camouflages itself in various forms. It may be bold blocks or intricate designs but the elaborate designs and settings set the bar. Art and fashion are a system that collaborate and compliment each other. There seems to be a co-existential relationship. It’ll be cruel to grow without each other. Every season designers and brands surprise fashion that sets statements. Those pieces aren’t garments or accessories but concept art that narrates a story in the work put in to create them.

They say classics are back, we say when did they go out of Style? In a 1983 interview, French designer Yves Saint Laurent said that “... if you want to discuss fashion, I like to think that fashion passes but style remains.” 32 years later, Saint Laurent’s response could not be truer. From street apparel to corporate offices, classic styles are being freshened up into modern fashion. Since we understand dressing like a dude is easy but dressing like a gentleman is a bit harder. TAW bring to you the best ways for men to dress modern with classic flavor.

There are multiple types to pick from, the butterfly, batwing, diamond point and rounded. Not to confuse you any further, add a modern twist to the classic staple by opting for a printed one instead.

Large Lapel Coats The return of an exemplary customized suit for men is a much welcomed development in style. Uniquely designed suits with expansive shoulders and åvast lapels can be found in celebrated Italian styles of Zegna, Armani, Gucci amongst others. Nehru Jacket Quick flashback ,Nehru came into public consciousness when Jacqueline Kennedy visited Nehru in 1962. As Americans watched the first lady’s dress, they also learned what Nehru wore. The Nehru jacket appeared as one of these brief fads after George Harrison and the Beatles went to India in 1966 and brought back the Nehru jacket . Need it to be anymore classic? Pocket Square

Brown Shoes

What makes the difference between successful and unsuccessful men? Attention to detail, of course! Add a little flavor to your classic look with an embellishment like the pocket square. Simply recollect that it shouldnt be a shout point to any suit. There are various approaches to overlap a pocket square. Level or one-point folds are cool yet a man can really demonstrate his own style by acreating new folds.

These can be anything from brogues to wingtips to leather loafers. Brown shoes work the best as they are more stylish than boring black and pair well with practically anything and everything. The brown adds the much needed touch of colour, style and personality than black ever will. And when they start aging, they look vintage and covetable. But make sure they are highly polished, if you want the desired look.

With the designers getting more innovative and creative about their fashion shows, the music, set design and the choreography at the runways are now seen changing. Live music, models sashaying down the ramps, playing with the props, quirky choreography, off center set ups for the runway, are some of the new frenzies that were witnessed at the fashion weeks like Paris Fashion Week Pre Fall”16, New York fashion week, Amazon India Fashion Week Sumer Spring”16, naming a few.

“Fashion shows are branding exercises, so a bit of novelty and fun are always welcome. For me, having live singers who fit in with the design sensibility and contribute to the atmosphere can be terrific.”

Says the ace designer Tarun Tahiliani .

The designers are breaking the tedium at fashion weeks and are coming out of their conventional moulds. Even though the collection of the designer is of utmost importance but an avant garde set or backdrop, amazing music and an out of the box choreography can do wonders to a fashion show. The designers are getting a lot more innovative and are now seen experimenting with their fashion shows. Reputed musicians, artists are being roped in to perform live at the shows. This not only charges up the atmosphere but also gives a new dimension to the runway shows. Also the choreography at fashion shows is metamorphosing. We no more witness models walking with a straight face. Now a days the models shake a leg at the music which is being played at the fashion shows while they walk down the ramps. Also another trend that is well received this season is that ramps are being adorned with various props like tables and chairs, beds and also cupboards. Let alone props at the runways, now days massive sets are being crated at fashion shows which are treat to the eyes. All of this definitely suffuses up the environment and creates a curiosity amongst the viewers that what is going to happen next.

73

Internationally we have been seeing this trend of massive set constructions and backdrops for a while now. Recently Chanel headed to Rome for its latest Metiers Art Show. The Paris based luxury brand was all set to amaze the viewers and with Karl Lagerfeld one cannot help but expect the best. The show took place at Cinecitta Film Studio No.5. The whole studio was changed into an idealized Paris neighborhood. Yes, the designer literally brought Paris to Rome. A whole black and white neighborhood was constructed with wine merchants, bakeries, cheese shops, an oyster bar and a cinema. Lagerfeld also premiered ‘once and Forever” an 11 mimiute movie he directed that featured the beautiful and charming Kristen Stewart. Forever” an 11 minute movie he directed that featured the beautiful and charming Kristen Stewart. Also at New York Fashion Week Spring’16 very unique and out of the box sets were seen. Thom Browne created a topsy-turvy oneroom classroom where he hosted his spring collection. The models would go inside the classroom after their walk at a square shaped runway and would sit at the desks. Also Rodarte at New York Fashion Week’16 had a very different set, which was specially designed by Bureau Betak. The set was made up of fluorescent light columns wrapped with vines. It looked magnificent.

THE BLURRED By- Vidhi Bhasin

Fashion has a wonderful way of adapting to new realities. From the beginning of time, we have known Men are from Mars and the women are from Venus, no wonder they had to meet on Earth. Androgyny the art of blending the masculine n feminine is not a mystery in fashion anymore, but voila what a captivating inexactness. The blending of the styles is a beautiful ambiguity. In today’s society it’s more subversive to show a male figure in traditionally female garb—women have been wearing pants and suiting since the early 20th century, after all—but we can’t help but wonder, Where are the women in men’s ads and on men’s runways? Its very difficult to decide whether Gender differences are biologically determined or socially constructed. The latest trend this year is the incorporation of genderfree labels. The entire fashion community has ganged up to capitalize on fashion’s gender blur that is narrowing the sexual divide and bridging the abyss’ between the wardrobes of men n women. The entire rafts of designers are bent on eroding the once rigid demarcation between conventionally feminine and masculine clothes and rigid classifiers. The visions that materialized on the catwalks kept you wondering: is it winter or summer, homme or femme, predator or prey? Speaking gender neutrality is a boon for the designers. Design wise fashion doesn’t have any boundaries, it’s vast.

76

All the runway shows, high end fashion labels who are keen on blurring the rigid demarcation between conventional feminine and masculine clothes. All of the above are embracing all sort of shirts, blouses, skirts, crop pants in their latest ensembles. It’s becoming exceedingly clear that what the trend is going to be in 2016. The question here is not why bend the gender rules or why change something that has been going on for ages? It’s WHY NOT? Spring 2016 will be all about floral prints, lacy shirts, silky fabrics, asymmetric drapes, crop pants, but most importantly, all these for - MEN and what is wrong in that? With gender blur or gender neutrality being one of the most talked about trends lately we can say that the end of gender partitioning is not very far away. The designers are all set to dissolve this bold distinction between the outfits.

After being one of the most astounded celebrities stylist and showcasing her captivating collection worldwide Anamika khanna showcased her first ready to wear collection at AIFW. The designer as she said, presented a collection bound by no rules and blended the norms beautifully. Her collection showcased a lot of gender blurring elements. Loose fitting trousers, oversized jackets and overcoats, easy shirts are the few elements amongst the rest. The ensembles were sprinkled with very sporty elements. We caught a glimpse of track pants, long jackets, flared pants, and fitted trousers with long flowy capes. The collection was adorned with little embellishments, started with stark white and blacks to indigo dyeing process and concluded with a burst of color with some breathtaking patchwork. Also the motifs and the embellishments as seen in the collection are becoming more gender neutral.

However the experts feel that in the traditional Indian clothing, gender-neutral clothes are something that has been there for ages. Be it the churidars or the kurtas. Renowned fashion consultant, Meher Castelino says, “They have been around in India for ages. The lungi in the south is worn by both men and women. So gender-neutrality in terms of clothes is not a new concept in India. Even during the Mughal Empire men and women both wore angrakhas and anarkalis. The crossover was also seen in the capital and in Mumbai at the Amazon India Fashion Week Spring Summer’16 and Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015.

“Showcasing my first ready to wear collection at the Amazon India Fashion Week Spring-Summer’16. It is an experiment and the idea is to essentially present a collection bound by no rules,” says the designer.

PAST MODERN The world is in hysteria as we experience the funeral of the fashion eras. Fast fashion has taken over the world by storm. Each time a sense of nostalgia hits the soul the dressing up therapy always has got our back. Fashion is achieving a satisfaction level for any curse or boom in this present scenario. Seeing how fashion has evolved in past century has always made us want to live one of the eras if only we ever exited in those times. However fast fashion has made it all easy such quick transitions in the trends are making us live all that we missed during our inexistence. We’d all love to travel back in time, only if it were possible. Inspired by the 1900s and their style per decade retail stores now stock all sorts of clothes for the world to experience the fashion from past eras in today’s time and age. Fast fashion really has changed the scenario and allowed us to relive different styles from all the century that went by. The role played by this evolution has made us live the dream that the past gave us going through the pictures lying in the old albums. This era has the liberty to relive all that was once past. It’s like recreating that always existed but was fading in order to invent something new. Now is the time to appreciate the old that is holding the foundation to any idea or upcoming trend

1900’s Shape and outline always developed. More radical styles like the stumble skirt and the lampshade skirt each making the most of during this era. The Edwardians turned out to be more energetic and creative, taking keen interest in asymmetric draping system. Significantly less boning was utilized as a part of bodices and boning was presently exclusively to support the shape instead of evolving it.

1920’S Neck areas were normally a basic scoop or “V” however when collars were utilized they stressed the long line. Sleeves were either long and straight or with chime molding. Chiffons, light silks, delicate velvets, lamés, lightweight fleeces and delicate cottons made up the fabrics. As the “flapper period” got to be built up, hemlines proceeded with their outrageous climb and had come to the knee by 1926. The drop waist proceeded with its prevalence yet skirts and bodices turned out to be more perplexing with seaming, roundabout frills and gliding boards. Embellishing seaming, differentiating fabrics, and overlays started to show up. Quality, already clear by method for confused fit and development was presently conveying everything that needs to be conveyed through fabric and by controlling a solitary layer of material. Tedious and expensive beading was monstrously famous, particularly for night time dance dresses.

Ever wondered what the commoners do while the tourists luxuriate on the streets of London? A sky full of dark dreams, Inviting icy winds and fallen leaves. The ride on “94 to Piccadilly Circus” A man on the sidewalk reciting verses. Changing of Selfridges display windows From Armani to Prada, Dior to Louboutin. Oozing chocolate on my Wafflemiester, Tea break at the ‘House of Frazer” Leisure riding on a rental Santander Pathless in hyde park like a wanderer. A late night whisper on Carnaby Street Its dark and Elite, Trick or a treat. Long drives on the M4 Entering home from the backdoor. It grew on me like a cocoon on a caterpillar Forever and always, proud to be a Londoner. London is a different world altogether from the perspective of a commoner. Our happiness lies in the little little things we do or notice. Like street decorations for Christmas, or the sale crossing a percentile of 60. We see what we see, unlike the tourists, who see what they come to see. Some of the tourists, if lucky, are able to discover the fact that the bridge they mistake to be the London Bridge is actually the tower bridge that run’s parallel to the prior. As a fashion student, I find most of my inspiration from London. While I was walking one day on oxford street, I happened to lay my gaze on the display windows of all the shops. Selfridges however, caught my attention. The detailing and styling in one window. I went through all the other windows and found that I had discovered a whole new angle of looking at the lesser important things that styled the city. I moved away from selfridges and started to notice other small things on the roadside, like the bagpiper playing around the crowd. A clock for a boutique mushrooms on a hedge, lights on trees. Strings of silver balls hung from building to building on the whole oxford street. A little ride to the houses of parliament and I notice, next to the bridge is a stand up of locks and a few worn out stickers. The coffee on a roadside stall tastes better than costa coffee and the fish in house of frazer has been outdone by that of Garfunkels. The globe theatre on southbank looks empty whereas the skateboard arena is buzzing with young boys performing stunts. The red bus has changed its shape from sharp to spherical and the charges of the black cab have increased this New Year. The underground is getting more cramped while people are continuing to be increasing in diverse cultures. The city grows familiar with acquaintances turning into favourite restaurants and pubs, cinemas, film festivals, museums and walks. I love the life I’ve carved in London, the people I’ve met, the places I’ve been to and the routines I’ve established. The city is known for its newness and oldness squashed together. “ It’s a trap, except; I don’t want to climb out this time.”

Chikenkari has been a fundamental piece of Indian society since 655 AD. It delighted in patronization of the Moguls as well as achieved flawlessness as the enigmatic embroidery and hand work experienced further refinement. Appreciated world over today, the craftsmanship has streamed into each area of design world and all aspects of India. This art is more than the details of the flowers and leaves but the credit goes to the craftsmen to create such fine embroidery on fabric like chiffon and light cotton. It’s a master piece of it’s own kind. There is a mystical quality about Bandhini: lively hues, capturing mixes, emotional whirls and spins… It’s a romance of colours that beautifully transform the mode of the fabric. It enriches the smallest of emotions that hides in the wavy lines of the fabric. Phulkari Generally created by a family for its own utilization, the certainty of having finished a phulkari implied an essential stride for a young lady on her approach to turning into a lady. This Punjabi art is traditional in its richest forms. In weddings it’s considered auspicious to wear a Phulkari. Methods and examples were not reported but rather transmitted by overhearing people’s conversations. Consequently, each provincial gathering was identifiable by its novel weaving work. The best feature of a Phulkari are it’s vibrant colours and the positive energy it emits. Despite the fact that the material business today, is copying this craftsmanship with the assistance of machines, phulkari work has very nearly vanished in its unique structure..

I think it’s a great concept, firstly it gives the chefs to try out new recipes, modern techniques and secondly gives a chance to normal people to try them .. there are so many different things that are out in the world which normal people won’t ever get at home cooking . 4.There is a new hero in the picture these days where people mostly youngsters are tempted with thought of fast cooking using the microwave for baking cakes in the regular coffee mug. Would you like to tell us few suggestions about this new thing where baking is no longer the slow cooking treat and maybe share a recipe or a suggestion ? 4) Yes lots of quick bake recipes have flooded the internet. The microwave itself has made our lives so much more easier. for example you can bake a cake in just 5 mins !! any basic cake recipe, pop in the microwave (combo ) and you ll have a cake in literally 5 mins ! 5.Describe us how it feels when people recognize your profession as your passion? and tell us what is the future of baking for the young generation is the taste going to compromise with patience ? 5) Oh the feeling is beyond explanation. There is no greater joy in this world for me than to get appreciated or acknowledged because of my work ! its the best feeling :) Umm I don’t think so . It’s not something you can compromise with, if something is going to take 10 mins to bake, it will take 10 mins to bake, there isn’t anything you can do about it. so not much scope for compromising on that ! For me baking is more than just a profession so when I bake, I put my heart n soul in it and I hope the younger generation also does the same . 6.What are your thoughts about this fact that maybe in future good taste will only be related to restaurants not to those grandmas secret recipes ? 6) Let me tell you something, the best dessert I have ever had was at a local cafe near London. a cute lil place run by a family having the recipes come down from generations ! so when I go out to a new place, I look for local restaurants, local baakeries that give me authentic food. but then I have my days, sometimes even I want the restaurant made food but I don’t think so it can take over the grandma’s secret recipes ever !

Drifter Be the girl who travels.

Be the girl who travels and reawaken your sense of hope in the world. Let it change you, transform you, and give you a sort of longing that few other things ever will. Be the girl who travels and is continuously blown away by the sheer beauty of unknown. Let it make you laugh, let it make you cry, and let it shake you to your core. Be the girl who travels with bad hair, tanned skin, and more scars from travel than she could ever count. Embrace it fully. Let every strand, every tan line, and every flaw on your body be a reminder of the story that accompanies it. Like it, love it, and cherish it. It’s yours, and only yours. Be the girl who travels as it reiterates your independent, free, and radiant spirit. Prove to yourself (and the world) that you can do anything. And that you will do anything. Instead, be the girl who enjoys navigating this beautiful world alone. Be the girl who travels and relies on no one but herself. Be the girl who few people can ever keep up with, or count on to be content in one place. Be the girl who doesn’t need another person to be happy, and is self-sufficient in succeeding in life by herself. And most importantly, be the girl who never settles in anything- work, love, life, or otherwise. Be the girl who travels, unless of course, traveling isn’t for you. In which case, be the person you want to be, and be it fully.

Like most Indian girls, coming from the conservative town of Patiala, Navmalika Sidhu dint know she’ll find her solace in travelling. She has travelled to the most interior part of Bangladesh and backpacked through entire Europe all by herself, at the mere age 20! Not just that she was a part of the managing committee for Skydiving Olympics 2015. To celebrate Solo Female Travelers around the world, TAW brings to you an inspirational passage interview.

Q : We come from a background where women aren’t supposed to be too adventurers by themselves and the men are the strong ones , did u ever feel theses prejudices in your line of work where people looked at you with doubt.

such short instance is where I learnt how to play chess and from a person who didn’t even speak the same language. That’s how I became a pro at chess, just kidding.

Travelling alone isn’t such a big a deal as it is made up to be. According to me you just need to be in the right state of mind and most importantly the willingness to do it. It obviously is not like those sudden trips you make, it needs planning and also somewhere the thirst to find something new about the place or about yourself. And according to me everybody has that inside them, all we need is a little push!

Q Favourite memory of travelling alone.

Q : They say travel makes a person evolve and instills a deeper sense of being, how has travel changed you as a person? First of all it instilled in me the confidence that you can be what you wish to be and also achieve anything you want if you strive for it. For me the most fun part is the journey to it where you are figuring out everything on your own, that’s when you feel like you are superwoman or something. I mean there is absolutely nothing what you can’t achieve. And yeah I have this weird feeling where I look around at all the strangers and everybody is just so kind, it just feels like everybody is so happy with you and they are like ‘Go for it girl’. Q : 5 Tips for solo female travellers. Be humble, go crazy, go wild but don’t ever forget to be sensitive towards everything around you because that’s when things go deep down to your heart. Touch, feel everything you want. And be generous. That’s more than five but yeah why not. Q : Whats the gernal approach of people when they see solo female travelers? Any instances you’d like to share? Well I have never had any bad experiences, I wouldn’t call it luck. I think every time i step out I always have one thing at the back of my mind that nothing bad can ever come my way. My father always taught me one thing which I imply everyday of my life that be good and everything good will come your way. There are too many instances to count, but one

Well I have a memory from when I was travelling with my sister, we were in Bhutan. So I and her, we would go separate paths in the beginning of the day and discover everything, we can do whatever we would want. And at the end of the day just sit together and drink together to the discoveries and share the experiences. That way even when we went separate ways you still have an account of what was on the other path. Q : Your must visit list of countries. Well all the countries that I have been, namely Italy, Bhutan and of course all the cities in our country. But on my to go list is literally every country you can name, I want to go to every small place and feel it. Also say two three years down the line I want to have a world map and just dart my way to places, I am sure each one of us want to do that. Q : Other than the basic packing what should be the state of mind to be packed before leaving for a trip alone ? Well of course don’t forget to pack but other than that like I said earlier, you need to have the thirst to absorb everything around you where ever you go. And yes you should be able to adjust to every condition, to people. Personally in the tiniest of places is where you find the most magic and the kindest hearts. So write your life story the way it is meant to be written

Vieled Leh Ladakh may be a popular tourist destination, but what is there to be written about, that has not been discovered yet?

147

TAW got in touch with a local resident Tensing Thung, who also happens to be the area mazager for Airtel in Leh and probed him about the well hidden and not so touristy places of his lovely hometown. Leh redefines quietness, tranquility and it makes you feel as though you have entered a heaven far away from hustle and bustle the city life, where you can overlook everything else and just appreciate each minute that you spend here. It has an intriguing one of a kind cultural ambiance and a visit to old monasteries gives you a chance to investigate the absolute most excellent Buddhist statues, relics and sacred books.

Tso Moriri Though tourist rather prefers Pangong Lake, Tso Moriri is a far more undiscovered destination. The place is a canvas colored with the blue-white skies, blue-green mountains with white tops, the calm blue water of the lake and lush green pastures create a scenic beauty and serene environment. The place appears to be almost unreal for someone who visits for the first time. The Lake is known for its fresh waters, unlike the Pangong Lake, which has saline waters. Journey from Leh to this magnanimous lake reveals a sudden change in landscape from rugged terrains to lush green lands.

Lamayuru Monastery Ever wondered why the sky looks so beautiful when seen in movies but not from your home? This place shows you how being in the lap of nature and away from all the over crowded city scape, can let you have one of the best nights of star-gazing in your life. If you want to have the maximum from The Lamayuru monastery, plan your trip to Ladakh in sync with the time of shooting stars in the area.

Nubra Valley The last thing one would expect while heading to Leh would be a desert! Amongst the snow craved mountainous region of Ladhak is the desert valley of Nubra. It’s valley originated from the Tethis Sea; from the depths of which the Himalayas are said to have risen. The famous two humped camels provide the animal lovers a place to cherish. The Leh Palace A popular place with tourists but cant be left out of the “must visit places”. The view of a Palace placed on a nine-story dun leaves one overwhelmed with the structure and symbol of Ladhak’s historic architecture.

Namgyal has been basically vacant since the Ladakhi royals were stripped of force and rearranged off to Stok in 1846. Today the strong dividers encase some beautiful display spaces, which leave you with a sense of nostalgia in the air, yet the most pleasant place of a visit is wandering up to the roof for the mesmerizing view. Fascinating structures extended around the royal residence’s base incorporate the conspicuous Namgyal Stupa, the brilliantly muralled Chandazik Gompa consists of two little 15th-century temple buildings. One enshrines an 8m-tall gold-faced Maitreya, the other is a more atmospheric Gonkhang of protector deities. You can access it by footway through a steep, dusty path from Leh Palace..

The FOOD It’s a basic amenity but isn’t it also the best part about travel? The tradition meal is very different from any other part of Kashmir as most would suggest. Here are some the of the little tranquil cafes you need to try while you are there. •Booklovers Retreat has an amazing terrace and a small yet fascinated bookstore, must for all the book lovers. Find it at: Changspa Lane, Cafe Jeevan. •La Piazzetta creates a perfect under lit appeal with lanterns and openfires. This garden restaurant is buzzing till wee hours and ofcorse the food is to die for. Find it at :Changspa Road •Old Town Café is hidden under the glooms of Leh palace, the old Lonpo Houe still has a 17 th century kitchen room, the perfect place to sit, unwind and travel back in time. Find it at :Chokhang Village gate. •Lala’s Art Café is idea for old-town ambience, this tiny, mud-brick house was saved from demolition and brilliantly restored . It has trip-you-up stone steps and an open roof terrace serving French-press coffee and original cakes-of-the-day. Check out art and photography exhibitions plus the ancient carved steles downstairs. Find it at: Old Town

Bearing a passing comparability to the Potala Palace in Lhasa (Tibet), this nine-story dune-shaded royal residence, came to fruition under seventeenth century lord Sengge

What Else Will You Find There The hospitality There are a few places in the whole wide world where you can just knock on the door and ask for a cup of tea, a meal or a place to crash. Leh happens to be one on them , the residents don’t have much materialistic wealth but are very wealthy in matters of heart. The colors Where else will you find mountains that change their color with passing shades of sunlight, from browns to olive from rust to purple. Combine it with the amazing textures; it can only be expressed poetically. To find the unexpected There is always something unique to everyday you wake up in the lost paradise. Walking out the door might see a huge yak in the middle of the road, meet a filmmaker, share a car with a bunch of chatty and bubbly old women, get invited over tea by a monk. You never know what waiting for you at the next curb‌
