Experience a trip to Sapa in Northern Vietnam

Nestled in the mountains, near the Chinese border, Sapa was first discovered by the French nearly a hundred years ago and has become a popular place for the residents of Hanoi today to escape the heat of summer, as well as enjoy being with local minorities who live in the mountains. Sapa is 3143 meters high at the foot of Mt.Fansipan, the highest mountain in Vietnam good for all kind of Sapa trekking and tours. The surrounding villages is home to several different tribal people, terraced buffaloes and pigs and ethnic villages. The largest of the local ethnic minorities are the H'mong and the Dzao people, whose traditional clothing and culture bring you back to a forgotten time that the rest of Vietnam's population has apparently forgotten. The ethnic minorities women wore bright, colored woven headscarf and clothes, and on their backs they carry their babies (one of the most photogenic scene you see in all Vietnam), which were seen everywhere in Sapa and the region which is really eclectic and picturesque. We visited local markets and bought masses of hand-woven pillow covers and runners, lamenting and bargaining for the

prices in cracked Vietnamese, while the shopkeepers laughed at our accent and promised to offer good prices if we were to buy more. They did it actually. If you are wondering when to visit Sapa I must say that even in the summer the weather is much cooler than in Hanoi and the air is fresh and clean. Sudden fog and rain occur quite often, as we quickly found out after we had rented motorcycles and muddy streets and exposed cliffs on the Tram Pass, near Lao Cai. Soon as we arrived to the area we saw a full expectation of a sensational view, the road disappeared in the thick fog. After several cups of local tea, which we drank at a local homes, we jumped back on the motorcycles and headed back to Sapa. Interested in travel to Vietnam and to Sapa?
