The meeting was called to order at 9:07am. Due to low participation, we strayed from our agenda and focused on Tulare County since Gail Henry was our only Partner representative. Courtney Kalashian noted that it has been discussed to only meet every other month or quarterly because of this low attendance.

Gail would like the implementing partner to put together an article for her September 1st county newsletter. Courtney mentioned that we are going to be contacting all the Partners for the ‘VIEW the Success’ portion of the VIEW website so we could use the information from that for an article. The San Joaquin Valley Clean Energy Organization (SJVCEO) can utilize Mike Nemeth and Sandy Nax, former Fresno Bee reporters, to write the articles. We will try to have the article to Gail by the first week in August for review. Courtney also mentioned how Maureen Hoff has been in contact with the California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) representative to get brochures to pass out at VIEW events. These will be stamped with a special code so we can track the success of the campaign. She explained how there seemed to be a real need to focus on the low-income communities, exemplified by the Porterville Prospect Education Center Earth Day event on May 14th. Gail asked how we would like to proceed in community outreach in Tulare County. There is such a huge re-organization within the county departments so Gail will check to see who would be the best contact. Courtney noted that she and Maureen would be back in Tulare County on Tuesday the 8th and could be available for a meeting before lunch. Courtney will contact the Farm Bureau Wednesday or Thursday next week. Courtney mentioned we don’t have any dairy contacts so Gail will see what she can find. Bill DeLain felt that the next step for reaching the dairy community would be finding out how the county is capturing energy use. Jesse Langley said it might benefit everyone if SCE can first look into this and we can go from there; Jesse will get the information and then contact Gail. Bill mentioned that the dairies are all in the very rural areas so maybe the touch point should be the residential parts within those areas. Jesse felt that if we have the opportunity to talk specifically to these groups to show how the county is helping, then we could gain interest. Bill explained that it is important to have the education piece for constant reinforcement. Gail said she will keep using the terms ‘the county’s commitment’ in writing for next year’s county fiscal goals so that there is reinforcement. Gail also mentioned that the county has spent about $20 million on energy efficiency projects and is curious to know what is in the denominator in terms of what counts towards their tier level. Gail also stressed that she wanted to make sure that things that are not Tulare County are not being counted. Jesse said that Chris Coronel would know the answers.

It was agreed that the marketing meeting should be moved a quarterly system with the next meeting in September and the meeting after that in January. The next marketing meeting will be September 2nd at 9a.m.

Action Items: 1. Maureen Hoff will work with Courtney Kalashian and other SJVCEO staff to put together an article for the County of Tulare September newsletter. A draft will be completed and emailed to Gail Henry by August 1st for review. 2. Courtney Kalashian will contact the Farm Bureau Wednesday or Thursday of next week (June 9th or 10th) to make a connection for Tulare County outreach. 3. Jesse Langley will look into the Tulare County dairy energy usage piece and then be in contact with Gail Henry.
