CARE/FERA Program Overview California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE)  

 

Offers an income-qualified customer a 20% discount or more on customer’s electric bill. Program criteria includes total number of people in household, and total combined annual household income. Customers receiving assistance through specific public assistance programs automatically qualify for CARE through “categorical enrollment.” Customers are required to recertify their eligibility. Customers that do not qualify for CARE may qualify for FERA.

Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA) 

Offers income-qualified households of 3 or more, bill savings when they use a certain amount of energy (tier 3 rates at tier 2 rates).

LIHEAP

Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance

Head Start Income Eligible (Tribal Only)

Energy Management Assistance Program (EMA) ď Ź

The EMA Program provides energy-saving appliances and services such as refrigerators, air conditioners, home weatherization and light bulbs to our incomequalified customers. SCE will pay all costs of purchasing and installing the appliances and services, which are FREE to qualified customers

Available appliances and services covered by the EMA Program are as follows:  Refrigerator replacement  Lighting Replacement (CFL, Torchiers)  Pool Pump Replacement  Home Weatherization Services  Evaporative Cooling Installation *  Room or Central Air Conditioner Replacement (HVAC)* * These services may not be available in all areas

SCE’s Capitation Program Guidelines

SCE’s Capitation program provides up to $15 to partners (capitation agencies) for each new CARE enrollment.

The capitation fee reimburses an organization for the incremental work associated with assisting customers in completing a CARE/FERA Program application.

Capitation agencies are assigned a source code that enables enrollment tracking and agency payments.


How can an agency become an SCE Capitation Agency? 

SCE CARE/FERA management establishes an Agreement directly with an approved capitation agency. The following documents are required: –
