San Joaquin Valley Partnership Program May 2010 Focus: San Joaquin Valley kWh and peak kW reductions This Month’s Major Accomplishments: All Partners created demand response awareness by signing up for Flex Alerts. The Jurisdiction Needs Assessment that was developed in March was provided to all Partners. Face to face meetings were completed with the City of Hanford, the County of Tulare, and the City of Porterville. The City of Woodlake held its Lions Rodeo on May 8th – 9th where the MEU 2nd unit was present. Implementing partner staff, Courtney Kalashian and Maureen Hoff, attended the Porterville Prospect Education Center Earth Day celebration on May 14 th on behalf of the Partnership. The Partnership, through the implementing Partner, continued to edit the marketing plan based on feedback from the ME&O Task Force meetings. This will be treated as a living document and further developed with jurisdiction input at the each month. Partners filled out customer information forms to release their energy data records through December 31, 2012 to the implementer. Gas Company representative, Paulo Morais, presented on the current programs, rebates, and incentives available to customers at the May Partners meeting. Sandi Miller from the Tulare County Workforce Investment Board and Janelle Villalba from SCE’s AgTAC presented on the Residential Retrofit Forum that will be held at AgTAC on June 2nd. Several Partners, including the implementing Partner, plan to attend. The Cities of Tulare and Lindsay had previously shown interest in the Cool Center program and the City of Tulare confirmed at the May Partners meeting that they had submitted an application. Key Issues or Emerging Concerns: More time was spent in conversation with the Gas Company on acceptance of reimbursement requests and staying within budget. The implementer continues to work with the Utility representatives in the process of revising all 2010 invoices for resubmission. All partners are concerned that their OBF projects make the list and want to make sure that they are considered when the program roles out. All partner jurisdictions continue to be concerned about losing marketing and outreach dollars. The group consensus remains that locally based outreach efforts are more effective because of regional diversity, and local understanding of the market.

Upcoming Milestones Implementing partner staff, Courtney Kalashian and Maureen Hoff, will travel to Downey, California for the June 14th All Partners Meeting. Looking beyond May, several jurisdictions are scheduled to have the MEU 2 nd unit at their summer Farmers Markets, also with bilingual staff. More Jurisdiction Needs Assessment face to face meetings will be scheduled with the remaining Partners.

The Partnership website is scheduled to go live before the June 3 rd Partners meeting. The implementing Partner, Utility Partners, and County of Tulare Partner, Gail Henry, are scheduled to meet with the newly consolidated Capital Projects/Facilities management team of Tulare County in order to educate them on the Partnership’s purpose, activities, and available programs.
