San Joaquin Valley Partnership Program November, 2009 Focus: San Joaquin Valley kWh and peak kW reductions

This Month’s Major Accomplishments: Jurisdictions began marketing their Holiday Light Exchange programs. Seven of the eight jurisdictions are participating in the program for a total of 1,000 light stands. The City of Visalia reported an exchange of 100 strands in the first two days of the program; City of Woodlake exchanged all of their lights in three weeks and residents wanted more! Professional Exchange continued work with Jurisdictions to develop website content. Jurisdictions have submitted photos of their city/county for inclusion on the website. Marketing and Outreach taskforce is looking to submit a letter to CPUC on behalf of the Partnership to keep marketing funding local to individual partnerships. Small Jurisdictions (populations under 35,000) all completed audits in preparation for EECBG applications. The City of Visalia and County of Tulare submitted letters of intent to the CEC as leads on multi-jurisdictional applications for funding under the State Energy Program. Both welcomed and encouraged smaller jurisdictions to join in order to better leverage VIEW and EECBG funding and increase effectiveness in the region. The City of Hanford and County of Kings had information meetings with its staff and SCE to better understand how the partnership functions and the opportunities it provides. Key Issues or Emerging Concerns: All partner jurisdictions are concerned about losing marketing and outreach dollars. The group consensus is the locally based outreach efforts are more effective because of regional diversity, and local understanding of the market. Upcoming Milestones All Partner Jurisdictions will participate in the 2009 Holiday Light Exchange program to develop awareness and promote energy efficiency within the Jurisdictions. Applications for EECBG and SEP finding will be submitted, bringing outside funding sources into the Partnership. City of Porterville still to receive their DOE EECBG funds which will allow them to complete projects lowering energy consumption.
