The modern-day practices have seen the birth of designers who have set the wheel in motion for crafts by integrating them in their practices. The use and applications of craft have found in the commercial market are varied like the objectives of integrating them. This has shown a way to the participatory design process, where craft and design amalgamate, and designers and craftspeople work together on a common platform to create and produce something. A conscious effort of collaborating the two segments together, craft and design, in this sense can be seen as an emerging approach to design.

Luxury by craft-Switch woods Introduction : Craft has always been part prophecy and part fantasy. It is also a prediction because the increasing concern about the future of our planet, about the possibilities we have to inhabit a greener world, to be more autonomous and in control of life and the human impact on nature is shaping craft revival. As several crafts from all over the world Mysore Rosewood inlay is on of them which need a taste of modernism. Crafts has been practiced from centuries and decades in a same way and techniques with a little deviation but the content and the product as still somehow constant. For the revival of craft there is need of a thoughts in terms of art, design and technology to rejuvenate the crafts and make it more useful in todays modern worlds. Project Brief: To bring novelty in the traditional Mysore Rosewood inlay craft. {New could be thought, material or process.}

Concepts for the noval products
Available wooden switchboards
Concept 1 : There would be designed and pattern inlayed on the outer frames of a modular switchboard box. The patterns would be matching to the interior design of the room it can also be customise. The designs would be inlayed with different colours of wood. The inner housing of the box would be same only the upper frame would be made up of rosewood. Concept 2 : Some area in our rooms have switchboards which needs to be shown even in dark for example bedside socket switch, washroom lights boards. So the switch board upper plates would be inlayed with some vinyl sheets that will glow in dark. Concept 3 : Spikes guards are the most important object in our house but it is never been emphasis, it can also be designed to match the switchboard installed in your home and the interior of your house. These switchboards have an opportunity in the new upcoming homes, hotels, cafe, restaurants. Till now if a person is planning to design his house and want to give wooden theme, for example wooden floorings, wooden textured wall, wooden furnitures than there is a gap in switchboards, as modern modular switch boards are available in plastic, glass, and metals but not in wood. Traditional hotels, palaces, cafe etc will new the market for this kind of switchboards. Using rosewood has also one more advantage that it is hard and durable to more extant.
