CELEBRATING OUR 25 TH ANNIVERSARY with your Viking memories
This year we’re celebrating our 25th year in business. During this time Chairman Torstein Hagen has built an award-winning fleet of over 80 state-of-the-art ships. We are proud of what we have achieved so far, but we wouldn’t be here without you our loyal guests, who have sailed on these ships and explored some of the world’s most iconic rivers, oceans, and destinations with us.
To commemorate this special milestone, we wanted to hear from you; where have you travelled with us, your favourite memories, what you love about Viking, plus any tips you had for your fellow travellers.
We loved reading your responses and have created this special 25th Anniversary flipbook which we hope you will enjoy, perhaps it will even inspire plans for your next Viking voyage.
Thank you for continuing to choose Viking year after year and we look forward to welcoming you back on board again soon and creating many more wonderful memories with you.

“The ship, Viking Sun, was beautiful. The staterooms very spacious and comfortable in all aspects. The crew was fabulous – everyone from the GM to cabin attendants. The destinations visited so interesting, particularly Greenland, the Caribbean Islands and Ushuaia, the only way we would have been able to see these places. All the well organised excursions we did in EVERY port – too many to name. The food was magnificent –especially the lobster meals, all definitely the best on the seas.
The entertainers and lecturers from magicians to astronauts and everything in between. Four of the best months of our lives. A truly magnificent experience.”

“Everything! It was the first cruise holiday and beyond expectation. The staff, service, food, comfort of the ship, excursions, etc. were 10 out of 10. It made the holiday very memorable.” Sophie W.

“Being on a Viking ship is like a home away from home. The appropriate level of comfort, but not excessive, excellent service and great food choices.”
David M.
“It is just so lovely to be treated like you are important guests. I will only ever travel with Viking when it comes to cruising as you look after your guests so well. The food, the wine, the cabins and staff are all top class.”
Sue G.
“Doing the official inaugural cruise on the Viking Star on the Into the Midnight Sun cruise and being greeted by fire boats cascading us with water at each new port. Eating at Mamsens, especially the brown cheese – unusual and different but nice.
Meeting new friends for life...amongst other great memories.”

“Having previously driven to the countries/cities that this river cruise visited, the appeal was arriving in the very centre of cities and disembarking so easily. No parking issues, no accommodation bookings to make and importantly superb food and accommodation to experience. Whilst there is a guided experience in each city/town it is so easy to plan other activities as your Viking Longship has premium locations to allow further exploration.” Gary T.

“The staff on our first ever voyage in 2014 made us come back for more and more. They made us feel ever so special from the moment we came aboard to the moment we reluctantly left our Viking Longship. Make sure you do and see as much as you can afford, you may not be back there again.”
Michelle R.
“There were many, but most memorable was the ship itself it was beyond our expectations (food, comfort, facilities, staff) we didn’t want to get off! Plus spectacular scenery, locations, and experiences.”

“Going to Iceland after the Viking Baltic Cruise on Viking Sea. Our tip; try the Snow Grotto on a Viking ocean cruise.”

“Behind the scenes of the Hermitage. The Guest Services manager on our Viking Homelands trip. The welcome back from the crew on return to the ship from the day trip into Berlin. The cultural lectures on board. And so so much more!”
“With an ocean cruise we didn’t have to worry about excursions because at every port docked there was an included excursion and the choice of optional excursions. Everything was included in the ocean cruise like gratuities, different restaurants, internet, drinks, and toiletries. You just know that you are in good hands when travelling with Viking, whether on the river or ocean.”

“Favourite memory is finally getting to my favourite countries, Iceland and Norway, and both countries did not disappoint. Also, we did the Viking Homelands cruise the following year in 2018, and we had the same housekeeper for our room which was a lovely surprise.”

“So many wonderful memories! Loved celebrating Bastille Day on our Normandy cruise, my favourite excursion ever was the Crab Safari on the Into the Midnight Sun cruise. On the same cruise, we were fortunate enough to sail into Trollfjord (first time it had been done with a ship our size), and the Canadian film crew from Mighty Cruise Ships of the World doing their filming. Love the fact that Viking serve local food of the area.
Too many memories to list!
Experience both ocean and river cruises if you get the opportunity. If doing a first cruise or uncertain about cruising, do a river cruise. There are fewer people, its more casual, with beautiful views while sailing and visiting a new town/country each day! An easy way to see the world.”

“We have done four river cruises in Europe and Asia. We have loved every one! The staff have made us feel like we are with family. The local tour guides have without exception been informative and well versed in their own areas. The food has always been to an exceptional standard. We recommend Viking to everyone we talk about our travels too. We are booked for our first ocean cruise next year cruising from Bangkok to India and can’t wait! Our tip; we like to travel a day or so ahead of our cruise starting so that we aren’t inconvenienced with any travel delays.”

“My favourite memory would be the people we have met whilst cruising, be they guests, lecturers or staff that we have subsequently kept in touch with and even enjoyed meeting again or planning to travel with them again on a future cruise. We particularly enjoy the casual nature of travelling with Viking – not having to get over dressed to attend any of the eating venues. The interaction with the staff and that everyone has a smile. We also enjoy the variety of excursions available that generally allow for peoples taste or level of expedition/adventure. There is something for everyone.”
