TROMSDALEN CHURCH AKA THE ARCTIC CATHEDRAL: the late Norwegian architect Jan Inge Hovig, eleven aluminium-coated concrete panels on either side of the roof provide the cathedral’s bold form. Because of its brilliant acoustics, many musical events are held here.
HAVE A BEER AT ØLHALLEN: Ølhallen is the oldest pub in Tromsø and serves beer from 72 different taps, including those brewed by Mack – the world’s northernmost brewery.
JUMP ON BOARD TROMSØ’S CABLE CAR: ledge of Storsteinen about 420 metres above sea level. Enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Tromsø and the surrounding islands, mountains and fjords from the viewing platform.
THE POLAR MUSEUM: Learn all about life in the Arctic, from the history of fox and polar bear trapping to the ground-breaking expeditions of Nansen and Amundsen. Hundreds of artefacts and black-and-white archive photos are on display.
