Little People, Big World

Viking Pools had the pleasure of working with Matt Roloff and his family who star in their own familyoriented reality show Little People, Big World on TLC. Little People, Big World follows the lives of Matt and Amy Roloff, married dwarves who have four children, three of whom are average-sized while one is a dwarf. The family of six live near Portland, Oregon on their 34-acre farm.
“Viking has the benefit of a big corporation and the benefit of a family owned business.” – Matt Roloff
Working 15 hour stretches alongside the Roloff’s local electrician, masons, and TLC’s television crew, The Pool Guyz from Virginia Beach, Virginia installed a Viking pool in five days. A 16 x 40 foot Gulf Coast pool was installed with modified steps to accommodate the Roloff’s needs. Ric Reineke, President of The Pool Guyz, and his crew wanted to make sure that the Roloff’s daughter, Molly, could go swimming on her birthday. Reineke, who builds over 100 pools per year found this project to be especially memorable. “Working with the Roloff’s was amazing. Matt is such a hands-on person.” Ric was also educated about dwarfism while he was at the Roloff farm. “The most important thing I took away from this experience was that they are just like us. I feel blessed that Viking extended this opportunity to The Pool Guyz.”

Matt’s physician prescribed more cardiovascular exercise and after researching pool manufacturers, Matt concluded that Viking was the company of choice. “Swimming is ideal,” Roloff added. “I’ve increased my lung capacity in two short weeks (since the install). Now I’m swimming the entire length of the pool.” In January 2008, Matt Roloff joined the Viking team at the Atlantic City Pool and Spa Expo. Matt was a guest speaker at the Viking Pools booth, talking about his family, condition and the benefits of a swimming pool. When asked why Viking, Roloff explained, “We felt like we had the best in the world out there. Viking has the benefit of a big corporation and the benefit of a family owned business. We’re loving the pool.”
