PERFECT PORTRAITS.... 7 inspiring quotes
“YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW SOMEONE WHEN YOU WALK INTO A ROOM TO PHOTOGRAPH THEM, BUT IF YOU ARE ANY KIND OF PHOTOGRAPHER, YOU DO WHEN YOU LEAVE.” BRUCE WEBER “The most difficult thing for me is a portrait. You have to try to put your camera between the skin of a person and his shirt.” Henri Cartier-Bresson “THE PORTRAIT I DO BEST IS OF THE PERSON I KNOW BEST” NADAR
“The severe portrait, that is not the greatest joy in the world to the subject, may be of enormous interest to the reader.”Irving Penn “THE EYE SHOULD LEARN TO LISTEN BEFORE IT LOOKS” ROBERT FRANK
“Unpredictability. Accidents. Not good when you’re engaging in, say, brain surgery, but when lighting..wonderful!.” Joe McNally “FOR ME, THE SUBJECT OF THE PICTURE IS ALWAYS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE PICTURE” DIANE ARBUS
LITTLE LESSONS ABOUT
MACRO
DEPTH OF FIELD is tiny
so choose your point of focus careully, and try not to wiggle about too much... USE A TRIPOD. Or at least a monopod or gorillapod FOCUSSING IS TRICKY: one way to do it is to move slightly back and forward until the subject is in sharp focus. USE THE RIGHT LENS if you are photographing things that get scared easily, you’ll need at least a 100mm to 200mm lens to give you enough distance between your camera and the thing that might fly away. WINDY DAYS...never good days for macro photography...
