Fitness and Fundraising in Memory of Maddie

I’m Dee, a qualified fitness instructor with a passion for dance, and I run a fitness class called Beatz. One of my most loyal participants was my Mum, Maddy (Madeline). She was a real inspiration dancing right up until May of last year when she fell ill and was diagnosed with cancer. Mum fought hard until finally being admitted to St John’s Hospice, where she sadly died a few days later. I miss her terribly, but I cannot speak highly enough of the care that both Mum and all our family received from the incredible staff at the Hospice. Mum also attended Zumba Gold classes run my good friend and fellow instructor, Lisa Hillier, so we teamed up to host a fitness event in memory of my lovely Mum to raise funds for the Hospice. In March we welcomed everyone to 3 fabulous hours of dance, fitness, and fun! Running 3 back-to-back sessions including Zumba Gold, Beatz and Glow Beatz we raised a whopping £2,740! Special thanks to The Weatherley Centre for providing the venue and to Step N Pump Women’s Activewear for attending and donating a prize to our fundraising square. Our thanks also to Avanti Hair Studio and FitJAM Events for kindly donating prizes. We were overwhelmed by the support we received and would like to extend a massive thank you to everyone involved for helping us make this event such a huge success!
