ACIL calls special meeting to approve nonprofit status ANZA – Anza Civic Improvement League, a 501(c)4, mutual benefit nonprofit corporation will hold a special called meeting Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Little Red School House in Anza’s Minor Park. According to a meeting notice issued by ACIL, it has long been determined by the ACIL Board of Directors that ACIL needs to be a

501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation so it can receive tax deductible contributions and qualify for government grants. “Therefore, the ACIL Board of Directors has researched alternatives, consulted with a nonprofit attorney and determined that the most cost effective and expedient method to accomplish the conversion is to create a new 501(c)(3)

successor corporation that would be able to receive tax deductible contributions and government grants to continue the work of ACIL; managing and improving Minor Park for the benefit of the community,” the notice states. During the special membership meeting, the creation of a 501(c) (3) successor corporation to ACIL named Anza Minor Park (AMP)

and the transfer of ACIL’s assets to the new corporation (except the nontransferable KOYT license), is expected to be approved. Under the new nonprofit, AMP will thereafter be the custodian and manager of Minor Park, the release announced. “The existing board of directors and Officers of ACIL will be the initial board of directors and Offi-

cers of AMP, to the extent they are willing to serve. All existing ACIL memberships will transfer to AMP. Once AMP receives its 501(c)(3) Determination Letter and the ACIL assets are transferred to AMP, the board of directors and officers of AMP will change to the then ACIL Board of Directors and officers.”

SUN ANZA from page A-1 solar array will be the first phase of a two-phase system. The second phase will include another two megawatt array that will be constructed as soon as possible in an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and control costs. “It is a build as needed project that is challenging to us in Arizona,” he said noting the Arizona Cooperatives tie in with the AEC cooperative, with all working together to provide power to rural customers in the Southwestern states. “The preliminary process is difficult.” Bill Pham, co-founder of Cenergy Power who is contracted to build the solar array, said “this project symbolizes a sense of cooperation along the five-year path… It was a give and take process and we asked ‘how do we keep going?’” He mentioned legal and engineering issues with Riverside County and the Department of Energy getting the project approved. Vern Lauritzen, Riverside County 3rd District Supervisor Chuck Washington’s chief of staff, admitted there were some project delays because of county permit requirements, but those were accomplished with the supervisors’ help. He promised the supervisors office in the future will work to expedite the project as it moves along. “You are going to get there,” he said. Kevin Short, AEC manager, addressing those attending said the new four megawatt solar system at buildout will support 14 percent of the AEC annual energy output. “We will see a stronger and more resilient power system… Welcome to the future of energy production,” he said With that, AEC Board of Directors, led by president Bill Adams, and energy officials picked up the “golden” shovels and broke ground for the Sun Energy project. Handed one of the shovels after the ceremony was special guest and a pioneer founder to AEC 94-yearold Barbara Bradford. She was a leader of the visionaries who saw the valley’s need for their own efficient electric power system 65 years ago. Other special guests attending the AEC Sun Energy solar project groundbreaking were John Wallace. CEO of Grand Canyon State Electric Cooperative and from Cynergy Power, Ryan Kretschmer and Chad Chabazi. The Sun Energy Solar Project is located at 58470 Highway 371

Who can you trust to help you with your Medical Insurance Needs? TesTimonial “We never realized how much difference it would mean to have the right medical group on your side. My husband is on Medicare and the ‘Medical Group’ he was with was stringing him along for over a year concerning his health issues. Egregious things kept happening and we were more than frustrated. I suggested we talk to Charise about what we were experiencing. I thought perhaps she would know what we should do. When my husband shared what was going on with Charise she took the matter seriously and moved into action; she even made phone calls to his current medical group to see if we could get some satisfaction. After getting nowhere herself she checked out the groups rating. She discovered their customer care rating was so bad they were in danger of losing their insurance companies that subscribe patients to them. She promptly found my husband a new group with excellent ratings. Come this last January 2016 for the first time someone took my husband’s cardiac Arrhythmia and other issues seriously. He was sent to an excellent Cardiologist who promptly sent him to a Superb Electrophysiologist who found what the problem was. Surgery was scheduled and using an ablation technique, the Electrophysiologist was able to fix his arrhythmia. My husband is doing much better and I believe her caring ways helped to save his quality and quantity of life. The right insurance group is important and having a knowledgeable caring person like Charise on your side is invaluable.” - The Thomas’

FTH Luncheons are held the second Saturday of the month unless there is a fundraising event that month.

LUNCHEON from page A-1 have been created throughout the year and delivered by the club themselves to the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Loma Linda. This year the Club will be delivering Lap quilts Nov. 11. The Thimble Club was created over the course of one summer in 1912 when the women of the Valley gathered at the different farms and ranches, sharing lunch and women’s work as the men were involved in men’s work. On one of these occurrences, the women decided they enjoyed getting together and that they should do so once a month. Thus, Thimble Club was born. Over the past 100 years, the area’s Thimble Club women have influenced the quality of life, the culture and change in the Anza Valley. Through all the hardships and challenges rural life can afford, one thing they knew was true, they could depend on each other. It still holds true to this day. Scrap books, now in the Hamilton Museum, chronicles the years gone by. Over the years the Thimble Club can be credited for numerous things. They were the hub of social and community life in the valley. The Thimble Club women planned and

threw all the parties for the school children, started the PTA, made sure everyone had a good Christmas dinner and raised money for needed emergency equipment, including ambulances and fire trucks. They helped plan and build the community halls in Terwilliger and in Anza Township. In the past, missionaries carried their lap quilts to faraway lands and the men coming home from war knew their comfort for they could be found at the Veterans hospitals. Whenever a need presented itself, chances were the women of the Thimble Club met them in some fashion. Big or small, in a group or individually, these women were formidable, quietly working mostly behind the scenes. They have left the area with a great legacy to live up to. Sadly, as time goes by the club’s membership is aging out and with younger women in the workforce membership in the club, which meets the first Thursday of the week at noon, has declined. Today, through fundraising, the Thimble Club women are still presenting monies yearly to many of the communities’ organizations, children’s programs and other service clubs. Scholarship programs like From The Heart, 4-H, Lions Club,

The Josh Crawley Fund, Boy Scouts, the Anza Citizens Patrol and many more groups, benefit the community. This philanthropic group of ladies welcomes all who are willing to join, sewing skills are not needed to belong, but a willing hearts and willing hands are. It was reported by Ashley at the FTH meeting that sadly their ability to hold fundraisers has declined for several reasons in the past few years. This decline has caused a ripple effect to the point there is much less money for the group to give back to the community. FTH is celebrating its 10th year in ministry reaching out as a dedicated providing force for good to the area’s economically needy children. Bi-annual rummage sales and the coming up holiday dinner Nov. 19 are ways From The Heart provides funds for their many programs including back to school backpacks, school supplies, shoes and haircuts in August; Christmas for those who may not see a Christmas without FTH’s programs and in the spring two college bound seniors receive a laptop to help them on their next educational journey. All are repeated yearly. Due to their fundraising activities and options over the next two

Hundreds flocked to enjoy the artistry at the 13th Annual Quilt Show hosted by the Mountain Quilters of Idyllwild Guild Oct. 8 and 9, at Buckhorn Camp in Idyllwild. This year’s theme was “Lucky to Quilt in a Cabin in the Woods.” If you have never been to the Mountain Quilters of Idyllwild Guild Quilt Show, you have missed something very special. There are hundreds of handcrafted quilts, all a colorful exploration of patterned artistry pieced together, that feeds the eyes and thus the soul. It is truly a piece of America, a true art form. This event is the annual fundraiser for the group, as they are involved in may philanthropic actives or “giving back programs” as they call them. Some of these are the “Dress-AGirl” project which is a global self-esteem building program with young girls in mind and the “Thank a Vet” program. The guild draws participating members from all over Southern California. At one time, some lived in the area, some have vacation homes in Idyllwild and others learned of this fun group by word-of-mouth. No matter how they heard of this fun group of ladies, they joined and never looked back. One of the highlights of the event is the Peoples’ Choice Awards, a coveted and prestigious award for guild members as it is the viewing public that makes the final choice. Pat Hughes media spokeswoman for the guild shared these sentiments about the winners: Barbara Baker, first place People’s Choice: “Guild member Barbara Baker of San Bernardino had just left the show on Sunday, much to her good friend’s Phyllis Wilson’s protests. Phyllis very badly wanted to see if her name would be pulled as a winner for one of the gifts baskets. Instead Barbara’s name was called as the Blue Ribbon Winner of the very prestigious ‘Viewer’s Choice Award.’

“Barbara learned this via an excited cell phone call as she drove her friend Phyllis home. I can just imagine Phyllis’ conversation with Barbara… ‘I told you so ...’ can’t you? “The intricate pattern of rings of her quilt is a very traditional design. It is known as Wedding Rings.” Second Place goes to Linda Taylor: “Linda Taylor of Hemet was already excited to hear her name called as the winner of the ‘President’s Choice’ selected by guild President Carmen Terrazas’ as her favorite entry in the entire show. “Then Linda heard her name announced once again as the ‘second Place Viewer’s Choice’ winner for her original embroidery-embellished Route 66 Quilt entry she had made for her husband.” Third Place and the guild’s Opportunity Quilt Winner ‘Cabin

The Anza Quilters, Pat Sprit, were invited to display their opportunity quilt at the event. in the Woods’ goes to Barbara Pelham: “Barbara Pelham of Idyllwild who won the ‘third place Viewer’s Choice’ award for her Batik fabric creation titled ‘Idyllwild Blues.’ As luck would have it Barbara ended up a top double winner of the show as she learned her name was drawn from the thousands of tickets sold as the lucky person who was going to sleep under this year’s ‘Cabin in the Woods’ opportunity quilt.” Each year the guild choses a “Quilter of the Year.” This year that honor went to Billie Kercmar of Hemet. Kercmar was selected for her prolific and precise quilt work. This talent has Kercmar in the ribbons at local shows throughout the region. Also each year, guild members are asked to create a themed quilt project to reflect that year’s Quilt Show theme. This year’s theme was “Lucky to Quilt in a Cabin in the Woods” quilt challenge. The result was a 60-foot display hung from beautiful manzanita branches along the back wall. This year’s event also hosted many vendors who were warmly welcomed by the crowds. There were also a great number of opportunity raffles presented by the guild and the Anza Quilters were invited to display their opportunity quilt as well. It was titled “Friendship French Braid” tickets were sold throughout the event and in the months to come; the winner of which will be chosen Dec. 6. If you would like to join in on the fun; donate fabric, time, talent or monies call the guild’s PR person Pat Hughes at (951) 392-9750. The group meets the second Tuesday of every month from 9:30 a.m. until noon; downstairs in the community room of the Community Presbyterian Church located at 54400 North Circle Drive (corner of Cedar) in Idyllwild. The mailing address is Mountain Quilters of Idyllwild, P.O. Box 603, Idyllwild CA 92549. Guests are warmly welcomed.

Gillam has been a member of ASB (Associated Student Body) during his four years of high school. He has served as class president and vice president. He has participated in several school sports. He has been on the cross-country team for four years, the wrestling team for four years and served as team captain three of those years. He was also team captain for the track team for two years. Over the past four year Gillam has worked at the Boy Scout Summer Camp at Camp Emerson teaching Merit Badges to the Scouts who attend. After graduation in May 2017, Gillam plans to get his degree in criminal justice and the become a police officer. Becoming an Eagle Scout is not easy, it takes dedication on the part of the Troop’s leadership and the Scout as well as his family. The pride of earning his Eagle Scout rank is shared by all involved. To earn the Eagle Scout rank, the highest rank in Scouting, a Boy Scout must fulfill requirements and learn a number of specific skills to advance through the Scout ranks; Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life and Eagle. To advance, a Boy Scout must pass specific tests to meet requirements and complete a certain number of merit badges. Merit badges signify the mastery of certain outdoor skills, as well as skills in an area of personal interest. Of the 130 plus merit badges available, 21 must be earned to qualify for Eagle Scout. Of this group, 13 badges are required, including First Aid, Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the World, Communications, Cooking, Environmental Science, Personal Fitness, Personal Management, Camping and Family Life. In addition, a Scout has a choice between Emergency Preparedness and Lifesaving and a choice among Cycling, Hiking and Swimming. Gillam started his journey as a Tiger Cub Scout in 2006 and went on to earn the rank of Wolf. He took some time off from Scouting and went back a few years later as a Boy Scout in middle school. He has been with Troop 391 for six years now. He has enjoyed many fun trips and high adventures with Troop 319, from hiking up in the High Sierra’s to going to camp, getting evacuated from fires, participating in parades, doing numerous community service projects. Together with troop leaders, family and mentors Gillam has spent and many hours working hard on achieving his merit badges. The crowning achievement on the road to Eagle Scout is picking a project that will benefit a church or community organization. Gillam chose to do something for the Hamilton Museum. He followed Head Curator Margaret Wellman Jaenke around the museum and its grounds to figure out something that would be of benefit to the museum. They came up with the idea of a sign that would be a guide map for the Hamilton Museum grounds showing the locations of buildings and displays throughout. This sign represents over 100 man hours spent by Gillam and by parents and fellow scouts who helped.

On Sept. 28, Gillam’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony was held. His praises were sung by Troop 391 leadership as they led him through the Eagle Scout steps and pledges. His parents spoke and shared during the ceremony. Four mentors, Coach Craig Miller, Coach Juan Lopes, Teacher Mike Davies and Pastor Blake Booth; were men named by Gilliam as those who made a difference in his life, outside of Scouting. They were chosen to say a word and to share a portion of a Scout’s wisdom from a Scouting friend Nathan San Filippo who Gillam served with at Camp Emerson over the years. Booth was unable to attend the ceremony. Mike Davies shared from his heart and Micah 6:8. “He has told you, O man, what is good – and what does the Lord require of you, but to do justice and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”

The Bible MEV a passage he had picked because it reminded him of the Scouting way of life. He noted how well it fit with what Gillam had given him to share – Duty to God. Coach Craig Miller said he was impressed with Gillam’s leadership skills from the start. He was sure it was the Scouting that influenced this. He was picked to shared Duty to County. Coach Juan Lopes wanted to congratulate Gillam, his parents, the Scouting organization and the community for raising such an awesome young man. He stated that he recognized his leadership qualities and knew he had to be put him in a leadership role on the team. Coach Juan Lopes was picked to share Duty to Self. It was a moving evening. Afterward, everyone was invited to a meal in the fellowship hall to further celebrate Gillam’s achievements.

Anza Opinion

The real issue, Trump threatens the globalist Harold Pease, Ph. D. SPECIAL TO ANZA VALLEY OUTLOOK Not since Barry Goldwater in 1964 have I seen the establishment turn on one man with a unity and vehemence, as though from the very bowels of hell, as it has Donald Trump. It’s a full court press consisting of big governments types from both political parties, the establishment press (all networks except Fox), Hollywood moguls such as Steven Spielberg, and the billionaire club notably: David Rockefeller, George Soros, Warren Buffett, Michael Bloomberg, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg. They all benefit by the billions of dollars from this alliance, and it›s in all of their interests to protect one another and destroy anyone who threatens this money and power flow, thus their warfare on Trump. They are not all that concerned about the character of Trump – not even his disgusting video – as the character of Hillary, the one they do support, is far more flawed; nor do they particularly care about his sometimes hurtful comments. Bill Clinton is accused of having sexually assaulted women; even raping Juanita Broaddrick, while his wife used her power to punish his victims. As a defense attorney Hillary defended the rapist of a 12-year-old child, even knowing the perpetrator was guilty, and we all saw the www.anzavalleyoutlook.com

video of her laughing about her success in doing so. With a President Hillary the elite will stay in power so they use their power to minimize her many scandals and maximize Trump’s character flaws. It is as simple as this. They have even allowed her to garner about $300 million after leaving broke from the Whitehouse. She is one of them. So-called conservatives, like former president George H. Bush, plan to vote for so-called liberals (actually socialists) like Hillary Clinton in this election. Loyalty to this semi-secret combination is very strong. Virtually all of these elites mentioned can be described as “globalists” or friendly to globalism, a term that emphasizes transferring power from nations to an international body such as the U.N. If successful the Constitution will not be the ruling document and the United States will not be a separate, independent and sovereign nation. Such eventually spells the end of the United States and liberty as we know it. Even the phrase “open borders,” as used by Hillary (revealed in Wikileak’s

October dump), calls for an “open border hemisphere,” implies the same. What happened to political opposition to globalism? In fact, there never really was much after J.P. Morgan purchased the 25 largest newspapers in 1917 and personally placed an editor at each “paper to insure that all published information was in keeping with the new policy” determined by a new organization that he co-founded with John D. Rockefeller, The Council on Foreign Relations. The CFR is the most powerful special interest group working for world government in the U.S. The New York Times, now leading the charge against Trump, was the most powerful newspaper purchased. The financial elite have always had consensus on preserving their power and wealth and have always owned most of the mainstream media and both major political parties. The big government, big business, and big media forces that now wish to drop an atomic bomb on Trump because he is opposing them on free trade, open borders and America first, each sacred to them, are exposing themselves as having

always been on the same side. As with Hillary and George H. Bush, they always have had a private message that differed from their public message. This is why there is so little difference in foreign policy between Democrat and Republican presidents. They get their advisors from the same Wall Street special interest group, The CFR. They all support extensive foreign aid, policing the world with over 900 military bases in other lands, and continual wars without declaration or pre-established end. They all support international trade agreements that undermine the interests of our country and export jobs formerly held by Americans. Despite Republican opposition to open borders such was never effectively stopped when they were in power; the flood of illegals never ended. Finally, the establishment despises nationalism. On domestic policy the elites all supported the bank bailouts and their management of the money supply through the bankers private Federal Reserve Bank, which they manage. Despite Republicans having the purse power they have allowed

Barack Obama to double the national debt. None problem solve with the Constitution as first consideration. They all support problem-solving on the federal or international level rather than the state level. Nor do they talk about limited government. The establishment opposition to Trump certifies that he is not one of them. He will not be controlled by them, as have his predecessors from both parties. Nor will any special interest group control him. This may be the first time in 100 years that this is the case. Now Trump has many “warts,” is not a particularly righteous man, is not politically polished or verbally refined and is sometimes offensive to those around him, but he still represents the best chance to break free from the 100-year-old elitist secret combination which now has a choke-hold on our government, the Constitution and liberty itself. Certainly he has a much better chance of doing so than Barry Goldwater, the last presidential candidate that really tried. If he does not score a win this time there may not be another chance.
