A Message from our Director Now that winter is behind us and spring is nearing, we have many programs and events planned for the 2019 season. The Community Garden season began on April 15th. The garden plots are located at Sunset Park, 729 Murphy Drive in Romeoville. Stop in at the Recreation Center, 900 W. Romeo Road to learn more about renting an available plot. We will begin construction at Budler Park this spring (1912 Trafalger Drive). The renovations will include a new playground, additional pathways, extensive landscaping and security lighting. This is a joint project with the Plainfield Park District and we hope to provide you with a fantastic new play area. Grab your racket and come on out to play tennis! We’ve installed new tennis court lights at Village Park in October of 2018. We are opening Discovery Park this summer. This was a tremendous undertaking and we’re happy to now offer our community 5 athletic fields, sand volleyball, three half-court basketball areas, and walking trails. This park was partially funded by a grant from the Illinois Open Space Land Acquisition Development (OSLAD). Take some time to recreate for you and your family. Look through the summer brochure and see the many programs our Recreation Staff have planned for you. You can also enjoy our many beautiful park sites with varying amenities. Remember to Take Time for Fun!

Resident Registration May 13 - May 26
Registration Dates: Non Resident Registration May 22 - May 26
DON’T WAIT IN LINES — REGISTER ONLINE
Make your registration experience quick and easy! Check online for the programs you want. Don’t wait in lines or miss out on registering for a class! Some programs are not eligible for online registration — please ask the front desk for details.
HOW DOES ONLINE REGISTRATION WORK? Anyone can register online for recreation programs. Romeoville residents must first acquire a user name and password to receive resident rates online. Heads of household must come in to the Recreation Center and provide proof of residency and identity. At that time, a user name and password will be issued. The password expires after one year and residency status must be renewed annually. Residents who do not update their residency at the Recreation Center will be charged non-refundable, non-resident fees.
ACQUIRING A FIRST TIME USER NAME AND PASSWORD 1. Romeoville residents must come in to the Recreation Center to show proof of residency and identity (once annually). 2. All family information must be updated at this time. 3. You will be given an Online Registration Login card. 4. Upon the first login, you will be prompted to change your password. This password will expire after one year. 5. Passwords will be issued to the head of household only. For technical assistance (i.e., lost password, troubleshooting, etc.) please call (815) 886-6222.
RESIDENCY INFORMATION Residents may register all days of registration by mail, over the counter or online (some programs are not eligible for online registration). In district fees are for Romeoville residents. Proof of identity/age and residency is required at the time of registration. Please provide one of the following: current utility bill (water bills are not accepted), current tax bill, vehicle registration, or home purchase/lease contract AND photo ID (state-issued ID or drivers license). Please be prepared to show identification during all registration periods to ensure residency and confirm information on file.
NON RESIDENCY INFORMATION Mail-in and walk-in registration from non residents will only be accepted during the non resident registration period. Non resident fees are 1.5 times more for programs unless otherwise noted. Please note: Romeoville residents have priority in registering for all programs. Some programs are not available for online registration.

If a class is canceled during the program, participants will be notified of the make up date by phone, in writing through a hand-out at class, through the mail, or via e-mail.
REFUND POLICY Refunds are issued as follows - 100% before the start of week one; 75% before the start of week two; 50% before the start of week three; 25% before the start of week four; and NO REFUND after week four. Refunds will be issued in 30 to 60 days.
INSURANCE The Romeoville Recreation Department carries no medical insurance and assumes no liability for personal injuries or loss of personal property while attending Recreation Department activities. A participant’s own policy must cover any medical costs incurred.
INCLUSION AIDES Northern Will County Special Recreation Association provides qualified staff to help assist the Romeoville Recreation Department’s community recreation leaders in providing recreational programs for children and adults with special needs in a safe environment. Inclusion aides assist participants with recreation activities and with any accommodations needed to make sure it is an optimal experience for participants. If your child needs assistance, please mention this on your registration form or upon registration. We do our best to provide inclusion aides for all requests; however, from time to time an aide may not be available because of the class time or day.
RESIDENT RATE A Resident Rate Status is available for non residents who wish to register for classes at a resident rate. This can be purchased for $100 per household and will allow non residents to register for classes at the resident rate during the non-resident registration period (walk-in registration only). A Resident Rate Status is good for one year from the date of issue. These passes are eligible for all recreation classes; they do not apply to the Birthday Party Packages, Open Gym, Child Care, Fit 4 Life, or rentals.
PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIPS Program scholarships are to assist families in need and are based on the availability of funds. These scholarships are only available to Romeoville residents who can provide proof of income or eligibility of need (i.e. free/ reduced school lunch program, IL Dept. of Public Aid recipient, most recent W-2 for all members living in household). In addition, proof of Romeoville residency is also required. Applications can be picked up at the Recreation Center and must be submitted during the registration period with supporting documentation. Notification of scholarship approval will be provided after the registration period. Scholarships will not provide 100% of program fees, do not pay for program supplies, and Day Camp, Pre-School, and Before and After School childcare programs are excluded. Please contact the Recreation Center for more information at 815-886-6222.

taekwondo early childhood and youth PERSERVERANCE PUNCH
What do Michael Jordan, Walt Disney, Thomas Edison, J.K. Rowling, and Mark Zuckerberg all have in common? PERSERVERANCE! Despite being told they couldn’t do something, they persevered to be famous and wildly successful. They kept “punching through” until they got what they wanted, and this is the growth mindset we want for our children. Through outrageously fun group games, kids will learn how amazing the “one-two” punch of perseverance can result in amazing opportunities. We will also explore when it’s not to appropriate to persevere. We will enjoy a cup of “decked out” party punch at the end of class to celebrate our new skills.

Tumbleweeds Tryouts: July 15-18
REGISTER FOR TRYOUTS BY JULY 5TH! Provide your daughter (age 6 through high school) the opportunity to learn, grow, develop, and mature into an outstanding young adult and athlete. Our team nurtures and instills confidence in athletes to achieve anything they put their minds to. With that said, the utmost priority is to provide an incredible experience for each gymnast. This happens because the gymnasts, parents, families, and coaches work together as a team. Being a part of the Romeoville Tumbleweeds is very rewarding and fun; however, it requires a huge commitment from both the gymnast and her family. If your child makes the team, commitments include: year-round practices, strict attendance policy, competitions (local and long-distance), additional fees for competitions & uniforms, and additional performances/appearances.
If you make the team: practices begin August 19th. Tryout results will be posted on Friday, July 19th at 4:30pm at the Recreation Center. There will be a MANDATORY parent meeting on Monday, August 12 at 6:30pm in the Drdak Room.
GET READY WITH TRYOUT PREP CLASSES! Age: 6 to 17 Fee: $8/R - $12/NR
Sign up for as many tryout prep classes as you would like, but you must already be signed up for tryouts. Join us for stretching, conditioning and preparation for tryouts. Team coaches will be there to monitor an open gym style of structured gymnastics.
TEAM TRYOUTS
Register according to your current Summer class or team level. All gymnasts must pre-register for tryouts by July 5. There is no cost to tryout - only sign up for one. Gymnasts will need to stay for the entire tryout.
