WELCOME n behalf of Logansport and Cass County, I extend to you a heartfelt welcome to our community. Our diverse community is proud of our historic past, yet we remain ever mindful of the strategic initiatives necessary to build a dynamic thriving community today and into the future.
O
Always present are two beautiful rivers to remind us that Logansport is more than just a place where two rivers meet, but where friendships are formed, families are raised and businesses grow. The Hoosier Heartland Corridor highway truly represents the resounding theme in our community: At the core of Logansport, Hoosiers are giving their all to show the world we are the heart of Indiana. So, whether you are stopping by for a quick meal on your way to another destination, or here to enjoy a memorable cultural experience, or you are making Cass County your new home, we welcome you and we wish that you find our community one to be remembered and revisited. Respectfully, Brian Shafer, IOM, President/CEO The Logansport/Cass County, IN Chamber of Commerce

The roots of this powerful region go as far back as 1826, when the first permanent European settler arrived in present-day Logansport. The settler, Alexander Chamberlain, began providing overnight shelter to travelers, establishing the area’s hospitality and business-mindedness early on. Colonel John B. Duret proposed that the area be called Captain Logan in honor of a Shawnee Indian who had befriended the settlers, but Logan’s Port, in reference to the town’s unique two-river border and now popularly known as Logansport, seemed more fitting.
