Billingshurst Lions support for Ukrainian refugees

Billingshurst & District Lions Club members voted unanimously to immediately donate £4000 for Ukraine Humanitarian Relief; part to the Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC) and part to the Lions Club International Disaster Appeal. All Lions funding is administered and distributed by Lions Clubs locally, in particular by the Lions Clubs in Poland, the Ukraine and Lions Clubs in other countries helping refugees and displaced families.

Charity Golf Day

Nearer to home, after two years’ absence, Billingshurst Lions are pleased to announce a return of their Charity Golf Day on Thursday, 26th May, at Slinfold Golf & Country Club, with all profits donated to Carers Support West Sussex – Young Carers, towards the 100 annual places for young carers to spend valuable time at one of their Summer Camps.

Support for Two Children’s Play Areas

All proceeds from the last Charity Golf Day were donated to the Jigsaw Trust for creating a safer environment within their play area. The Jigsaw Trust is dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by an autism spectrum disorder.

Billingshurst Lions have also supported the recent refurbish ment of the outside play area at the Wakoos Centre4Children in Billingshurst. Wakoos, (Weald Activities for Kids Out Of School), was founded in 1988, with a second site operating in Petworth since 2016. Wakoos provides support and childcare to almost 300 families in Billingshurst, Petworth and the surrounding areas.
