A local workforce Enfield is home to a diverse community of over 290,000 residents. People from all over the world choose to locate here and Middlesex University, with its Trent Park campus located in the borough, is the most popular UK university with international students. The council and our partners are working with Enfield businesses to create strong links with the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London (CHENEL) and Southgate College to optimise local employment opportunities. A total of 60% of all jobs in the borough are filled by local people – one of the highest in London and 189,000 people are of working age – the ninth largest in London. Enfield Council’s apprenticeship scheme works in partnership with companies – providing the administration and initial work experience alongside the training necessary to enable young people to move into employment with local businesses.
