28th Annual Kemptville Winter Woodlot Conference February 25, 2015 Registration is now open for the 28th Annual Kemptville Winter Woodlot Conference to be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at our new venue! This year’s keynote speaker is Gord Miller the Environmental Commissioner of Ontario who will speak about “Woodlot Owners: Ontario’s Biodiversity Bankers”. Other speakers and topics include: Managing your Woodlot in a Changing Climate – Gary Nielsen, Climate Change Project Coordinator, Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry Invasive Species – Are we losing the battle – Iola Price, Chair Ontario Invasive Plant Council Lyme Disease and Ticks – Dr. Paula Stewart, Lanark Leeds Grenville Health Unit Wild Turkey Management – Kerry Coleman, Wildlife Biologist Regenerating Diverse Tree species in Your Woodlot: Some Success Stories – Martin Streit, Partnership Specialist, Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry NEW! This year the conference features live sawmill demonstrations by “Logs to Lumber” (Bob Parent, Oxford Mills, ON) courtesy of Wood-Mizer Canada.
