S ix stations on the green line Ve r s a i l l e s - O r l y a i r p o r t o f t h e G re ater Pa ris’ ex p re ss m e tro. Th e G re ate r Pa r i s Au t h o r i t y h a s s e l e c te d A R E P w i t h t h e s u p p o r t o f t h e te c h n i c a l consultant SYSTR A for the feasibilit y studies of six rail stations and their inser t in the u r ba n s u rro un d in g. This pro j ec t o f t ran sp o r tat ion is related to the creation of a n e w h i gh c apac i t y net work of 150 km length. It will connec t Paris to “competitive clusters� of the reg ion w h i l e se r vin g th e te rritor y of the u rban agglomerati on . This n et wo r k co n n e c te d to the existing one includes 5 0 s tati on s. Th e m e tro w i l l pro v i d e a re a l co m p l e m e nt a r i t y w i t h t h e c u r re nt n e t wo r k a s i t w i l l l i n k b e t we e n e a c h oth e r a l l ra dial lin e s ex te n ding from Paris and will offer i nte r-s u bu rb con n e c ti on s. For the integration of the stations in their urban surrounding, we worked at diff ere nt s ca l es: l arg e te r r ito r y / u rban agglomeration / dis tri c t an d we s tu di e d th e acce s s i bi l i t y, t he mo b il it y as well as the u rban and natural contex t. Two s t y l es o f co mp o sit io n in the existing layout: - To t h e E st, an ur b an d e si gn based on the French st yle garde n s’ patte rn , s tru c tured by a n o r t ho g o n al urba n fabric, with the use of the s y m m e tr y an d m as te rfu l pe r sp ec tive s. - To the West, a layout referring to the English st yle gardens’ pattern, offering a l ot o f d i ffe re nt visual se q uences with intimate a nd rom anti c atm os ph e re s al on g w i n di n g path s.
