HOW TO PACK THE
PERFECT SUITCASE Vincent Granville
PACKING CAN BE A CHALLENGE. Packing for your next vacation may seem like a simple task, but there is more strategy that goes into packing than just throwing in a few random shirts and pants. Packing can actually turn into a stressful ordeal if not thought out thoroughly. To maximize the fun on your next vacation, try out a few of these tips to pack the perfect suitcase.
DON’T USE A BIG SUITCASE IF YOU DON’T HAVE TO If you have extra room in your suitcase you will find yourself packing more than you need just to fill the extra space. Try packing your essentials into a suitcase no bigger than 22 inches tall. Limiting your suitcase to this size will not only limit what you are you are bringing, but you won’t have to check your bag.
FOLLOW THE 5,4,3,2,1 RULE Something that will help you to travel light is embracing the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 rule. This rule is perfect for a weeklong trip. Limit yourself to, 5 tops, 4 bottoms, 3 nice pieces, 2 pairs of shoes and 1 hat/watch/sunglasses. Depending on where you plan on traveling or your needs, you can easily adapt the rule. The rule is there to act as a guide.
PUT YOUR TETRIS SKILLS TO THE TEST Utilize every inch of space that your suitcase has to offer. Put your sock in your shoes, use any side pockets, and roll your clothes. Rolling helps keep your clothes wrinkle-free and allows you to see everything you packed more easily. While packing you can also try out different strategies like packing cubes or the bundle technique.
PACK YOUR TOILETRIES WISELY To avoid spills, keep your toiletries secured in a separate bag. If you plan on air traveling, use a clear plastic bag so T.S.A. can easily see the contents of the bag. Your toiletries should be the last thing you pack in your bag and located on top of your clothes. Keeping your toiletries separate from the rest of your luggage will help to ensure that you aren't forgetting anything.
