The most difficult subject matter for any composer is the heartbreaking passing of a beloved person. Gina Pellettiere tragically passed away in the Farmingdale High School bus accident of September 2023. Gina was a spitfire personality filled with kindness, love, and generosity. She was a respected and beloved colleague and a devoted teacher and mentor to her students.
To Soar With Angels is a gift in Gina’s honor from her Nassau-Suffolk Performing Arts family. The piece was conceived to celebrate her legacy rather than mourn her untimely passing. It consists of two parts - the first being a dignified fanfare, and the second being a lyrical song. This lyrical song develops into a celebratory finale, which I hope will uplift both Gina’s legacy and all those who knew and loved her.
