ADVANCED PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM 2014 - Naples The panel is deformed according to the position of the sun, inspired by the movement of sunflower and its phototropism. As the cells of sunflower spread out and create movement toward the sun, so the panel material deforms in the chosen direction. Its movement is fluid and organic such as that of a muscle. The hexagonal shape is inspired by the observation of bees and their cells that starts since ancient times and the characteristic of the hexagon tessellate the surface using fewer edges. A new concept of photovoltaic system wich follow the sun in every moment of a day and of the year: Just like an evergreen sunflower without heavy machinery to generate movement. Ultra thin and ultra light, panel takes advantage of innovative an sustainable materials to create an organic and fluid movement, that reminds a muscle wich can follow the sun. The research begins with the observation of existing in nature heliotropic system and the need to have for the future PV systems not bulky, recyclable, light and modular that integrate harmoniously within urban contexts. Hence the APS project inspired by the enzymes present in the stem of the sunflower and hexagonal structures that are found in nature. Research materials and their symbiosis was a challenge that we have been able to deal well thanks to the numerous experiments and knowledge gained in the field of smart materials.

SPERIMENTATION In collaboration with my colleagues Anna Dell’Aversana, Pietro Liquori and with the help of the Professors Antonio Apicella and Raffaella Aversa, into the laboratories of the Second University Of Naples department of Architecture, we have begun a process of experimentation which brought us to realize a prototype of the panel and to the verification of his working. We have also re-created an electroactive polymer , starting from a membrane made of Nafion, doping it with different type of solution which allowed us to verify is effective functioning.

SOLID WORKS SIMULATION

SUN TRACKING The photovoltaic aps panel is able to deform smoothly and quickly through a polymer capable of changing its structure at the passage of electricity, while the structure just like a skeleton supports electropolimer, which makes him like a lightweight muscle and allows him to move towards the light. Panels are hexagonal and divided into 6 segments of electroactive polymer (eap) that deform at very low electric charges, creating the follower movement and rising up to 5 centimeters. The photovoltaic part is a deposition of cgis nanoparticles, a thin film similar to an ink that adapts to the flexible substrate. The eap layer with cigs one are protected by an addictional ultrathin and clear layer, a flexible glass of the latest generation, the willow glass.

Urban Mobility 2010 - Milan Project with Gino FInizio and Patrizia Ranzo. Light weight veichle for a sustainable city mobility. The man, as Gillo Dorfles says, has a natural attitude to change conditions that sorround him in its favor instead of adapting himself; a great designer doesn’t have to overpowering the ambient, he has to create that kind of extensions which put in relation the beneficiary with the nature.

Topaz dress 2016 - London Project with Moritz Waldemayer and Deborah Milner. Designed for Daphne Guinness, Natural History Museum, October 2016.

UNMADE 2015 - London Interactive sign for UNMADE shop in Flora Street. Covent Garden London

Moka 2015 - Naples Project for Wolfgang Murmann. A coffee maker for the pods and for the powder, realized in wood, steel, glass and abs, to return the warmth and comfort to make the experience for the coffee pleasant. The design of this coffee maker has followed and has been adapted in shape/ function to the classic rules for a really good Neapolitan coffee.

Vorolight 2014 - Naples Self production. From the experimentation of new technologies as 3d printers and the parametric modeling by grasshopper, arises vorolight. Based on a mathematical function by voronoi, this lamp wants to be a concept opened to the new border of the illumination and to the possibility offered by the technological progress, which must be indagated. Realized in brushed aluminum, oled light and a diffractor body made in a polymer printed in 3d.

Eox 2013 - Pompei Project for ChĂŠz DomĂŹ Beauty Farm. Oxygen dispenser for dyes made of steel, aluminum and polycarbonate, equipped with two pumps managed by an electronic control system which guarantees an elevated precision for the dosages. Designed with criteria of affordance, ergonomics and ease of use, meanwhile designed with innovative technical solution which safeguard the purity and the quality of the product and which facilitate the application, the management and the control.

Boom 2012 - Naples Self production. From the passion for the music to the union between handicraft and industry, it was born the project BOOM. Realized with one of the material longer present in the acoustic field, the ceramic, worked by pottery masters from Campania, linked to the new most advanced technologies in the field of the acoustic diffusion, BOOM offers a sound of high definition and a refined and elegant product which links acoustic physic, materials and advanced technologies to the work of the master of handicraft.

Anphi 2011 - Milan Project for Adamo & Eve team ideas. This project was born by the study of new technologies and materials, especially Edge Motion Control. From the Clio patent which has changed classic speakers in slabs of Plexiglas which, through piezoelectric transducers, to vibrate at certain frequencies, generating in that way sound waves; it was thought reinterpreting this technology through the ANPHI project.

Robots 2010 - Milan Project for Gino Finizio Srl. Furnishing entirely made of steel, though both for the smaller than for the large spaces. A column which can be unitize in four different parts which can be totally separated. A modular library which can be adapted to any kind of situation, both for the office than for an residence. The project was born inside a company specialized in furnishing realized entirely in steel. The ROBOTS in addition to satisfy the company brief, allows (thanks to the techniques of the advanced production) an easiness in the realization, which makes them lower costs, but meanwhile it offers a product of elevated industrial sophistication.

SLight 2009 - Naples Self production. Made of steel, with easy processors, the illuminated part is made up by a Led strip and by a diffusor realized in polycarbonate. By sliding the two parts of the auction, you can move from a soft light diffused suited to illuminate a room with a direct white light suitable for lighting a desk. Linked to a small industrial reality and to basilar process, it became low cost in material and processes, but it doesn’t make it poor, even better, it characterizes that with his minimal design, functional and at the same time innovative for his versatile being and energetically efficient.

Smart

C i t y shelter 2015 - Pompei Project for department of architecture and design Aversa. A shelter designed for areas of high tourism to serve public transports , sharing services and staging points. Realized following modular and fractal structures to maintain a forma purity and a structural lightness.

Smart

City totem 2014 - Naples Project for department DICDEA. Increase the Smartness level of our cities in an innovative and sustainable key in order to improve the life quality and the cultural level of the user/ tourist/resident and improve the touristic attraction of the city. Translate contents and resources of the cultural and creative heritage in new ways of using, through technological solution which allows rich, collaborative and interactive experiences in order to strengthen and expand the chain of the worth and of the culture.

Honey

Store&Food 2009 - Aversa Design concept for Prof. Marco Borrelli. oney, store&food is a project which was born to valorize the products made in Italy, especially to picking up the excellence in the field of the honey production, sensitizing, in that way, people to the problem derivative from the decrease of the bees and of the agricultural zone.

Visual Lab 2014 - Naples Project with Arch. Guido La Puca. The VisualLab study, a working group created by the Arch. Guido La Puca, is in the research and in the experimentation of the fractal nature and in simple modules. The object analyzed in this context is the Magnum Algida Ice cream rod. The module, since elementary geometry, has lent itself very well to this experimentation, creating life and games of three-dimensional textures very intriguing. The succession of modules, linked to the geometrical rhythm concepts, translation, rotation, imbalance and balance has generated visual movements which had full investigated the daily use. Contextualizing a job like this, through simulations made into different realities like a cellular tissue or an architectural landscape, has made visible the module fractal nature.

Matrice 2013 - Naples Self production. From the studies of the geometric configurations, matrices, and visual perception, going from the fractals to the charm of the origami. “Matrice is a flyer series and streets communication which tries to offer something more than the classical leaflet . Starting from the respect for the paper which is printed and 10 sec later is thrown, Matrice tries to intrigue people not only with messages but also with the experience taken from an unusual flyer which, folding it like a mesh or like an origami, can take different forms. In that way the experience of the construction of the origami is subjective and personal, obtaining a threedimensional flyer.

Geste 2008 - Naples Project for Patrizia Ranzo. ‘’Geste” is inspired to the respect for the body and for the re-creation of that ancestral connection which brings man to be an extension of the nature. The dress has no exasperated cuts modeling to avoid the violate tissue. “Geste” is a dress which accompanies, caresses and protects the body without forcing it. “Geste” take from the natural world also the decorative element: from gems, irregulars and multifaceted, taking cue from the origami technique, it blooms geometries on the dress which module the light and its reflex, giving rhythm and compositions.
