Telephone Gateway INTEGRATED RADIO SOLUTION FOR MOTOROLA DIGITAL SYSTEMS INTEGRATED RADIO COMMUNICATION Zenitel is an Accredited Radio Partner for Motorola Solutions. With our substantial experience in radio communication, we utilize Motorola Radio products integrated with our own Vingtor-Stentofon solutions for many applications and market segments.

▪▪ RADIO GROUP CALLS Calls between radios that have selected the same group.

RADIO TELEPHONE GATEWAY SOLUTION The AlphaCom MotoTrbo Telephone Gateway is an intelligent system to be used with Motorola’s Digital MotoTrbo radio system. The gateway can be used for easy telephone interconnects and works in a simple single-site system as well as an advanced larger trunked system. The AlphaCom-Mototrbo Gateway will help you increase the efficiency of your communication system because of the following benefits:

▪▪ ALPHACOM PABX CALLS Calls between a radio and a wired telephone or telephone conference, or between a wired telephone and a group of radios.

▪▪ RADIO PRIVATE CALLS Calls between two individual radios.

▪▪ ALL CALL Call used, for example, to forward PA/GA calls to all radios in the system. ▪▪ EMERGENCY CALL

The MOTOTRBO radio system and AlphaCom-MotoTrbo Telephone Gateway is an ideal communication solution for marine and offshore applications

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION VINGTOR-STENTOFON GATEWAY SERVER The heart of the system is the Vingtor-Stentofon Gateway Server. It communicates via IP with the AlphaCom Audio Server and the MotoTrbo base station repeaters. For each voice stream that is passed between the radio repeater and AlphaCom, the Gateway Server is equipped with an AMBE vocoder chip that translates DMR AMBE compressed voice format to 16-bit PCM code or vice versa. The vocoder chip comes in 2 versions where type 3000 handles 1 voice stream and type 3003 handles 3 voice streams. 24-PORT ETHERNET SWITCH The system also includes a 24-port Ethernet Switch with PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at). The PoE+ ports can be used to power the numerous types of IP-based desk sets

and control panels available to the AlphaCom system. Each PoE+ port can supply up to 30W power, and for the switch in total, 180W. PORTABLE AND MOBILE RADIOS CALLS Fixed subscribers as well as MotoTrbo mobiles and handheld radios are configured in the AlphaCom system. The radios are, thereby, a part of the AlphaCom numbering system, always using 4 digits for each subscriber or simplex conference call (group call). When radios are calling, the gateway monitors whether the called party number is a fixed subscriber or a fixed group number (simplex conference number) configured in AlphaCom. If it is, the gateway routes the call to AlphaCom. If it isn´t, the gateway is passive and leaves the MotoTrbo system to set up the call. ALPHACOM-MOTOTRBO TELEPHONE GATEWAY

SUPPORTED RADIO SYSTEMS The gateway can be used for telephone interconnects for simple single-site MotoTrbo DMR Tier II repeater systems, MotoTrbo IP Site Connect, and also for the advanced trunked v ersions, M otoTrbo Capacity Plus and Linked Capacity Plus. A trunked system is one where the radio

infrastructure uses a control channel called the rest channel in the MotoTrbo Capacity Plus and Linked Capacity Plus systems. The purpose of the rest channel is to automatically allocate a call to an idle resource. In the trunked radio systems, the resources are radio time slots and telephone interconnects.

CONVENTIONAL

IP SITE CONNECT

▪▪ Single site ▪▪ Up to 200 users ▪▪ Baseline capacity and coverage

▪▪ Up to 15 sites ▪▪ Up to 200 users ▪▪ Cost-effective coverage

The CONVENTIONAL SINGLE SITE SYSTEM comprises one or more MOTOTRBO SLR5500 repeaters, but only one of them is connected via IP to the Vingtor-Stentofon telephone gateway server.

The IP SITE CONNECT digital solution uses the LAN to extend the coverage of your MOTOTRBO communication system, making it easy to create wide area coverage and automatically roam from one coverage area to another with no manual intervention.

This example shows two SLR5500 repeaters. Repeater 1 is in digital mode (2 time slots per carrier) while Repeater 2 is programmed for either analog or digital mode. Analog mode is typically used if the end user has an existing large fleet of analog radios when migrating to MotoTrbo digital systems. Please note: In this example, only Repeater 1 is connected to the Gateway Server. The handheld and mobile radios manually select which channel (time slot) to use. The minimum configuration would be a system, where, for example, time slot 1 on Repeater 1 is used for telephony interconnects and the remaining time slots are used for normal repeater traffic.

4

The MotoTrbo IP Site Connect solution makes it possible to connect two or more single site systems into larger networks. An IP Site Connect system is one where the radio either is scanning or roaming, and the information can be broadcasted via more sites. In the IP Site Connect Example shown above, a single AlphaCom Audio Server caters to fixed subscribers at all sites, and the radios have the possibility of calling to fixed subscribers located at any of these sites. For the radios to be able to always receive private calls from other radios or from telephone subscribers, they must scan all RF frequencies in the system.
