There is a Port for every moment

There are four main styles of Port, with distinctly different profiles but all bearing the same characteristic hallmarks: a rich, intense and persistent aroma and flavour and a high alcohol content, between 19%v/v and 22%v/v. Ruby Full-bodied, rich and powerful, this wine is aged in large stainless steel or oak vats so that it retains its original characteristics reminiscent of fresh red fruits such as cherries and strawberries. Vintage stands out from all Ruby Ports. This extraordinary wine is selected during the finest vintage years for its quality and potential to age slowly in bottle over many years. Tawny These are specially chosen for ageing in oak casks. The wine is gradually exposed to air, there is a concentration of flavours and a maturation of colours that go from ruby to tawny, the aromas developing to create complex and subtle flavours of dried fruits, vanilla and caramel. Tawny with an indication of age is produced by blending wood-aged Ports of various years, the resulting wine having all the traits of a Port aged in wood for the length of time mentioned on the label. White Produced from white grapes according to the same method used for Red Ports, this wine offers a world of choice, with colours that range from pale white to gold and intense flavours that go from the very dry to the very rich and sweet. RosĂŠ Pink in colour, with lively aromas of cherry, strawberry and raspberry, it should be enjoyed young, chilled, on the rocks or in cocktails.

Short portrait Alta Pontuação Viticulture and wine trades Ltd is a young company born in 2008, after an application for a draft young farmer, with the aim of producing high quality wines from grapes grown in the Douro Wine Region. The Fifth embodying this project dates back to 1876, has about 5.5 ha and an area average size does not allow the production of large quantities, although the quality is proven. The farm is situated in the parish of Celeirós Douro, municipality of Sabrosa, with elevations ranging from 385 m and 450 m, with slopes exposed to the east and south mostly. The vineyard is composed of old vines, comprising more than 20 varieties of the most traditional Douro, aged over 50 years and is also composed of a zone that has been restructured to six years. Our vineyards have the following varieties: Touriga Nacional, Franca, Tinta Roriz and Barroca (paints) and Malvasia Fina and Gouveio Real (White is all old vines). Short portrait DOC Douro Wines are produced in limited quantities from traditional Douro Valley grape varieties, attentively cultivated, with small yields and the absolute minimum of fertilizers and spraying. The vineyards are located on the steep slopes of the river Corgo and on the left bank of the Douro, mainly west-facing, bathed by the warm sun and bright light of the Douro summer. White, red and rosé wines produced since 2010, with grapes harvested only when fully mature followed by careful wine processing.

Short portrait Casal dos Jordões is a vineyard exploration since 1870. In 1994 we began to make the organic agriculture. We have more than 55 hectares of vineyards and we are making the restore of the old vines. These are situated in the valley of the river Torto - São João da Pesqueira in the centre of the Delimited Douro Region at an altitude of between 90 and 350 metres. It’s schistose soil. The predominant red grape varieties are the following (in decreasing order): Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cão and Souzão and yet a little quantity of white grapes of varieties Malvasia Fina and Gouveio. Our exploration is a family company owned by the Jordão Family and the great quality wines are made in presses (lagares), ancient system to extract more colour and tannins.

Short portrait This important Douro Estate was the last great achievement of Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the legendary great Lady of the Douro, and the only property that was totally planted by her, on land purchased from the town council of Vila Nova de Foz Côa in 1877. It is now owned by her great-great grandson Francisco Javier de Olazabal, formerly president of the Port and Douro Wine Company A.A. Ferreira, to whom the grapes of the property used to be sold. In 1998 he decided to resign in order to develop its own winemaking project under the technical direction of his son, Francisco de Olazabal y Nicolau de Almeida.

Short portrait Quinta do Vallado, established in 1716, is one of the oldest and most famous “Quintas” in the Douro Valley. It once belonged to the legendary Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, and still belongs to her descendents. It lies on both banks of the Corgo River, a tributary to the Douro river, right near to its mouth, close to the town of Peso da Régua. The three cousins now in charge of Quinta do Vallado’s destinies are all descendants, in the 5th generation, of Dona Antónia. Short portrait Cristiano van Zeller’s family has been involved in the Port Wine trade since the early 17th Century. After selling Quinta do Noval in 1993, Cristiano van Zeller bought Quinta Vale D. Maria from his wife’s family in 1996, where he began the production of Quinta Vale D. Maria Douro DOC Wines and Port Wines. At Quinta Vale D. Maria, the Quinta has been divided into single vineyard plots, each a field blend of different varieties (up to 41 varieties), where wines from single vineyards are produced. Short portrait Quinta de la Rosa, located near Pinhão, has been in the Bergqvist family since 1906, although they have been in the port trade as shippers under the family name, Feuerheerd, since 1815. It currently has around 55 hectares under vine and produces around 50,000 litres of port and 160,000 litres of table wine each year. In 1988 Sophia and her father, Tim Bergqvist, decided to restart the family business and launched Quinta de la Rosa as a top quality port and wine producer onto the market place. Since 2002, Jorge Moreira, one of the finest wine makers in Portugal, has been making wines at La Rosa. Short portrait Quinta de Porrais was originally owned by the legendary Dona Antónia Ferreira. Situated in the Demarcated Region of Douro, at quite high altitude, 600m, it is particularly adapted to produce high quality grapes. The 36 hectares of the Estate are mainly covered with vineyards, of which 60% are white varieties (Rabigato, Códega do Larinho, Viosinho and Verdelho), and 40% red varieties (Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Sousão and Tinta Barroca). The vines are terraced or simply planted in ridges carved out into the rocky soil, having an average of 65 years but many of them are well over 100 years old. Short portrait Located in the heart of Portugal’s Douro Valley, Wine & Soul spans several picturesque vineyards. This innovative, yet rustic winery was founded nearly fourteen years ago by Jorge Serôdio Borges and his wife Sandra Tavares da Silva, both of whom wished to channel their extensive experience into a winery that would showcase the traditional varietals of the Douro Valley on an international level. Initially, the winery included a lone vineyard, Pintas, but throughout the years, it has gradually expanded to include additional properties, such as the magnificent Quinta da Manoella, located in the sparkling Pinhão Valley. Though widely recognized for its port production, Wine & Soul has also received considerable critical praise for its delightful, character-driven wines, all of which represent the exceptionally fruitful terroir of the Douro region.
