Metaplay 1.0
MetaPlay 1.0 was first session of series of workshop, a 6-day online design workshop that investigated the potential of emerging technologies such as parametric design, augmented reality, and virtual reality for digitally conceived and experienced built environment design. Participants gained hands-on skills in digital and parametric modeling, as well as cutting-edge game engine and CGI tools in the AEC industry. Working in groups, participants designed and built architectural scale projects within a virtual environment. The workshop was curated by Avani Institute of Design, India in partnership with Design Future Foundation and Dezact, London.
The workshop was a response to the COVID19 crisis and the resulting shift towards digital lifestyles. Social media and online games replaced physical social spaces, while remote work, digital shopping, and virtual play redefined daily routines and expanded personal boundaries. The workshop sought to explore how the “play” component could become the driving force behind activities in a gamified environment.
