HILL INLET
At the northern end of Whitehaven Beach is Hill Inlet. As the tide shifts, the silica white sand of Whitehaven Beach combined with the blue-green hues of the inlet blends seamlessly to create a swirling fusion of turquoise colours. Hill Inlet is best viewed from up high, whether it be from the lookout at Tongue Point or on a scenic flight.

World-famous Whitehaven Beach stretches over 7 km along Whitsunday Island, the largest of the 74 islands in the Whitsunday group. It defines nature at its best, so it’s no surprise it often tops the best beaches list worldwide. Experiencing Whitehaven Beach provides an amazing sense of relaxation and escape, and the sand contains 98% silica, meaning it is extremely fine and soft, with some comparing the consistency to that of baby powder! Be sure to check out the lookout at the southern end of the beach; the walking track takes you through Australian native bush and local rainforest. When you get to the top of the short 1 km walk, the Whitsundays Islands National Park opens up before your eyes, and it is every bit as unbelievable as the famous Hill Inlet.

There is a wide choice of day trips to Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet, most overnight sailing trips also stop in and many self-sufficient boaties are drawn to anchor along its peaceful shores. For amazing aerial views, you might want to see Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet by seaplane, light aircraft or helicopter.
